Dr. Eric Oxley received his undergraduate degree from Milligan University in Johnson City, Tennessee, and his dental degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. After dental school, he began his dental career with the U.S. Navy at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency.

He then reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to continue his service with the Navy. During that time, Dr. Oxley served as a clinical director, mentor for residents and dental hygiene students, and daily clinical practice. He also worked part-time in the private sector to prepare for his career outside of the Navy.

Dr. Oxley continuously works to hone his practice through numerous continuing education courses and is a self-identified dental nerd. He has received Fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry, completed numerous advanced Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry CE workshops and courses, and graduated from the AAID MaxiCourse in Implant Dentistry. Dr. Oxley seeks out opportunities to enhance his patients' quality of care in terms of cosmetic dentistry and restoring and maintaining functional oral health. Dr. Oxley's believes it is important to stay up-to-date with technological advances in the field to better meet patients' needs and deliver the highest quality available. Professionally Dr. Oxley enjoys digital dentistry, smile design and makeovers, CAD/CAM, porcelain and laminate veneers and bonding, dental implants and prosthetics, 3D CBCT digital radiology and complex restorative and prosthetic dentistry.

Dr. Oxley is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. When he isnt at work, Eric is enjoying time with his wife, son, and two dogs. He also enjoys exercise, the great eastern North Carolina outdoors, and local community involvement.

Practice Manager Lisa joined the dental field in 1989, and 32 years later, she still enjoys every second. Lisa has completed dental consulting training and a range of courses. She now works as our practice manager, helping the practice run smoothly. One of the things Lisa loves the most about her job is meeting people and building lifelong relationships with patients throughout their dental journeys.

Outside of work, you can find Lisa on a boat, at the beach, or with her family and friends. She also enjoys shopping, sports, and the simple things in life. Lisa says she also feels blessed to have a son and a daughter, both of whom she is very proud of.

Registered Dental HygienistOriginally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, Kris graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelors degree in dental hygiene and sociology. Since 1990, she has called Emerald Isle her home and has been practicing in New Bern as a dental hygienist since 1992.

In her off time, Kris enjoys spending time with her familyher husband, Jeff, their son, Jared, and daughter, Courtneyas well as gardening, playing the piano, being involved in church, going to the beach, and watching sports.

Registered Dental HygienistTaylor is a dental hygiene graduate of Coastal Carolina Community College. She moved to North Carolina in 2016 with her husband, who is in the Marine Corps. Taylor knew from a young age that she wanted to be a dental hygienist, and shes worked hard to achieve her career goals. One of Taylors favorite things about her work at Oxley Comprehensive Dentistry is helping patients improve their oral health and building relationships with them.

Registered Dental Assistant Sarah is a dental assistant who graduated from California State University San Marcos. After completing her certification, Sarah served as a dental assistant instructor while specializing in infection control. She moved to North Carolina in 2020 when her husband was stationed at Cherry Point Air Station. At Oxley Comprehensive Dentistry, Sarah is known both for her kind care of patients and for keeping Dr. Oxley supplied with caffeine and hydration so he can focus on performing at his best.

Endodontics deals with the soft tissue, or pulp, inside of the tooth. Treatment is mostly required due to pulp damage, major decay, inflammation, or infection. Root canal therapy treats the condition by removing the pulp. Dr. Oxley then cleans the root and seals it to help prevent future infection.

We always restore teeth when possible, but sometimes a tooth cannot be saved. In this instance, your dentist will recommend an extraction. At Oxley Comprehensive Dentistry, we make the extraction process as comfortable as possible for our patients. We provide local anesthesia to numb the area, and our caring team works gently while keeping you informed of whats happening every step of the way. We also offer sedation options such as nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or a combination of both to help you relax through the procedure.

Early detection is key to fighting oral cancer. But the earliest warning signs of oral cancer are not obvious to the untrained eye. Thats why preventive dentistry is so important. Dr. Oxley performs an oral cancer screening at each of your regular dental checkups to make sure any irregularities are caught as soon as possible.
