Dr. Mitra Derakhshan has worked with Invisalign for over 10 years and has demonstrated her expertise with the clear aligner system by being published in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, giving seminars in orthodontics, and lecturing on orthodontic topics worldwide.
Before Dr. Derakhshan joined the OX Orthodontix team, she received her dental degree (DDS) at the University of Michigan and her masters degree (MS) and Certificate in Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Sandra Selnick is dedicated to staying on the cutting edge of innovative orthodontic treatment to provide the best possible treatment results for her patients. Dr. Selnick takes pride in creating beautiful smiles for all ages using the latest advancements in orthodontic technology.
As the daughter of a pediatric dentist and a pediatrician, Dr. Selnick was bound to work as a medical professional too! She graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) from the University of Miami before earning her doctoral degree in dentistry (DDS) from the University of Maryland where she graduated with special recognition from the American Association of Orthodontists. After completing a hospital-based General Practice Residency with the VA Medical Center in Baltimore, Dr. Selnicks interest in orthodontics led her back to the University of Maryland for three years of specialty training resulting in a Certificate in Orthodontics. She concurrently pursued her research in orthodontic computer analysis, earning a Master (MS) in Oral Biology.
In previous positions, Dr. Selnick was in private practice and worked as a staff orthodontist at Childrens Hospital at Washington Hospital Center. She is leader and innovator using Invisalign to treat patients since its introduction.
Dr. Selnick is also dedicated to giving back to her community and her strong ties in the Howard County area are a source of pride in her professional and private life. When she is not in the office, Dr. Selnick is active with her son, who is a swimmer attending the Naval Academy and her daughter, enjoying her first year at University of Maryland.
Dr. Kathleen McKeon has been excited about orthodontics since she was a young girl growing up in Catonsville, MD. It has been her lifelong dream to be able to share that passion and to make happier and healthier smiles in her hometown. Dr. McKeon graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) from the University of South Carolina before returning to Baltimore and earning her doctoral degree in dentistry (DDS) from the University of Maryland. While in dental school she was recognized by the American Association of Orthodontists and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. Her interest in orthodontics then led her to the University of Pittsburgh where she received a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Dental Science degree (MDS) after three years of specialty training. In her free time, Dr. McKeon is a certified yoga instructor that enjoys spending time with friends and family (including her two cats!), staying active, and enjoying good food and wine. Dr. McKeon is excited to be back home again, to serve the community she grew up in, and to be a part of the OX Orthodontix team!
I have been with OX Orthdontix since 2011. I enjoy learning about orthodontics and the new technology the office embraces, which is amazing. I look forward to seeing everyone with their beautiful smiles! I am originally from Carroll County and now reside in Howard County. In my free time I enjoy to travel, shop, and watch movies.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be working in an environment where I am constantly learning an abundance of information about the field of orthodontics. I love being challenged to always provide top notch care and the ability to work with the latest technology. I am honored to be a part of the OX team. It is a pleasure to work with both the staff and the patients.
Ive been a part of the OX team since 2010. I like learning about new advancements and technology as they occur in orthodontics. I am a southern girl at heart, but currently reside in Gaithersburg, MD with my husband and two-year-old daughter, Julianna. Together, we love to go to the park, shop (more like look!), and bake scrumptious desserts for everyone at OX.
Shannon has been an ortho tech for almost four years. She was born and raised in Maryland and of course, loves seafood. She has five beautiful children. Shannon said, I love what I do at OX because I love people and I love seeing patients smiles be transformed and the joy it brings them.
Candace has over 13 years of experience in the dental field starting as an assistant and working in all other aspects ofthe dental field as well. The knowledge she has gained through the years and the experience she has, makes it possible for her asa treatment coordinatorto help patients gain more confidence that they will achieve the beautiful smile they envision.
Casey was born and raised in Catonsville, MD. She has been in orthodontics for 8 years. Casey said, I love it because I get to enjoy patients new smile journey with them! When shes not at work, you can find her cuddling with her cats or binging Netflix!
Malinda grew up in Centreville MD, a very small town on the Eastern Shore.She said, I like working at OX because I enjoy meeting new people, and love helping others achieve their beautiful smile.A little-known fact about Malinda; she traveled to Italy to play softball and represent the USA.
Rikell has lived in Maryland all her life and is originally from Annapolis. She has worked in orthodontics for 11 years. Some of her favorites are singing and Tacos! Rikell said I enjoy working at OX because of how technically advanced the office is. That makes OX a cool and hip place to work.
Nicole originates from Indiana, lived in Arizona for 5 years and then moved to Maryland. She has worked in the dental industry for 27 years. Favorites are pizza and also her 3 cats. Days off, you can find her riding on the back of a motorcycle through the country roads. She loves working at OX not just because the doctors and staff are AMAZING; the orthodontic field has been a large interest of hers in all those years of dentistry.
