After leaving Alabama to attend dental school at the University of Louisville, Dr. Carter returned home to Birmingham with his wife, Dr. Laura Crocker Mitchell, a pediatrician in the ER at Children's of Alabama. When not at work, he is often found in his home gym or spending time with their fur baby, Dasher. They love eating at the amazing Mountain Brook restaurants. At your next visit, make sure to ask him about his love of Cheez-its.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve with new variants and low vaccination rates in Alabama, our primary concern remains your safety. Dentistry has been at the forefront of infection control for a long time. We have been preventing the spread of diseases by preventing cross-contamination and using full barrier techniques. We will continue these practices, and we have a new level of precaution since COVID-19 is a respiratory disease. Please be aware of these additional measures

I drove from Alexander City to Mountain Brook for my dental work, and it was worth the drive! Wonderful dentist and staff! I would definitely recommend Dr. Carter.

First visit here and I was very impressed. Up to date setting with modern technology, but we all know the real factor is the staff. I can't say enough about how pleasant, professional and personable everyone was. They didn't recommend a bunch of procedures or try to sell me any upgrades. Just straight up great dentistry.

This was my first time ! I was amazed by Rhonda-the teaching and care that she shared with me. Susan , at the front desk, answered all my questions ! Dr. Carter was so knowledgeable!! Best dental experience I have ever had!

I had the best experience at OTM Dentistry! I had a small filling fall out and my tooth was really sensitive to cold. I reached out to Dr Carter to let him know what was going on and he was able to see me the same day. I'm not a big fan of getting shots in my mouth (who is??) so I was really nervous. Dr Carter and Rhonda did a great job reassuring me through the appointment. The best part was Dr Carter was able to reshape and fill the tooth with NO SHOT AT ALL! My tooth felt better immediately, like someone put a warm blanket over it :) To them it was just a small filling but to me it was so much more. I can't recommend this practice enough.

Great service and patient care. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating, I have never been a big fan of going to see the dentist but the team at Over the Mountain made it way more comfortable!

Great experience. Rhonda was amazing at explaining the problems found and long term solutions needed for my teeth. She also has a gentle touch. They also use text message with a real live person in their office to help you schedule and change appointments as needed. No more phone tag!
