Dr. Schuster received his DDS degree from the renowned University of Iowa College of Dentistry and maintains surgical privileges at two local hospitals. He completed extensive postgraduate continuing ed. course work in Orthopedics, Orthodontics, Dental Implants and Dental Sleep Medicine.
Additionally, he has studied the treatment of TMJ/TMD Disorders under the worlds foremost expert, Dr. Harold Gelb. He is a native Iowan, an Army/Navy veteran, and is happily married to Tamara since 1992. Together they have four boys that keep them on their toes.
Dr. Schuster continues to ensure that his patients have the finest care possible by attending professional seminars, completing advanced continuing education courses and sharing information with colleagues.
Mark joined the team in 2008 after serving as a high school Ag teacher / FFA advisor for 17 years.Marks duties include assisting Dr. Schuster with the day to day operations and assisting chair side as needed.
Sam has been in the dental profession since 1993 and joined Dr. Schuster in 1998. Presently, she serves as the insurance coordinator, assists chair side as needed, and helps Mark with management duties.
Amanda joined our team in October 2017. She graduated from the Kirkwood Community College Dental Hygiene Program in 2013. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Iowa Dental Hygienists Association.

Wisdom teeth (3rd molars) are usually poorly positioned impacted teeth that can cause substantial discomfort such as swelling, pain, stiffness or even changing the alignment of your teeth. Removal or the extraction of your wisdom teeth usually takes care of these issues.
If you have a cracked, infected or broken tooth we usually recommend trying to save the tooth (i.e. fillings, crowns, root canals). In the case when the tooth cannot be repaired then it will need to be extracted. With tooth extractions, treatment options are discussed for replacing the teeth (i.e. dental implants, partials, dentures).
Do you have dentures that are loose? Are you missing one or more teeth? Depending on your bone structure, dental implants may be an option if you answered yes to either of those questions. Dental implants are small titanium screws strategically placed to help stabilize dentures or replace missing teeth. Dr. Schuster currently holds a Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).
The National Institutes of Health indicates there are over 80 million Americans suffering from chronic headaches, migraines, TMD, tinnitus, and jaw/facial pain. It is estimated that over 80% of these symptoms could be improper dental forces or orofacial pain-related conditions and/or TMJ/D. Weve been successfully treating these conditions for over 15 years.

Sleep apnea can affect anyone at any age, even children. Risk factors for sleep apnea can include being male, overweight, large neck size, a family history of sleep apnea and gastroesophageal reflux or GERD. If left untreated, sleep apnea can include a number of health issues such as high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, heart failure, irregular heartbeats, heart attacks and a significantly increased risk of Alzheimers. Untreated sleep apnea may also contribute to poor performance in everyday activities such as work and school, motor vehicle crashes, and underachievement in adolescents and children.

if you live in the area you owe it to yourself, and your teeth to check out Osky Dental! not only is the staff extremely friendly and gifted at putting you at ease Dr. Dan is both quick and efficient. I have had him do a filling and a root canal with a crown. all of the procedures were honestly nearly painless! I could not be happier with the results!

I'm a little late at posting this and I don't often do reviews. I have to brag about Osky Dental though! When I first went there I wasn't sure how to feel about it but I didn't have very healthy teeth so of course all of my appointments required dental work, which is no ones fault but my own. I've been going here for a few years now and I love doctor Dan and his crew! He removed all four of my wisdom teeth last winter and I had very little pain during my recovery, most people told me not to let a general dentist remove my wisdom teeth but he did an excellent job! He also saved me thousands of dollars on Orthodontal work. I have nothing but good things to say about Osky Dental. They are always super friendly and they love to talk, which is important to me because I love to talk. They're good at making you feel more relaxed especially when you have bad dental anxiety. Doctor Dan and his crew have actually helped me get over my dental anxiety a lot over the past few years.They genuinely care about you and aren't all about the money like a lot of places. Instead of fearing my dental appointments, I actually look forward to them!

I was pleasantly SHOCKED today when my (overly anxious/ tense) son had to have two fillings done today. Dr. Dan and team explained to him EXACTLY what would happen, step by step! I swear he was in and out in 15 minutes! I would 100% recommend Osky Dental to anyone! You become family! Thank you so much for making our dental experience better!

Went about a year and a half ago and was told I needed a night guard for clenching. Fast forward to present day and I'm visiting my new general dentist in Seattle. She literally thought I got my guard over the counter and was in disbelief that an actual dentist would have given me this particular type of guard. The guard may as well have been mouth guard for football. She didn't even have an example to compare with. Needless to say, I now have occlusal trauma on my back teeth from clenching and my jaw is inflamed from biting so hard on the soft piece. And I'm pretty sure a nightguard shouldn't look like a wad of chewed gum. I would literally find myself waking up in the night chewing on this stupid thing.

I had my two front teeth fixed before I went back to work on Monday today. Dr.Dan is absolutely amazing and I love how he explains what he is doing, and how he wants to make sure that my teeth were fixed perfectly. He also fixed my eye teeth to make my teeth more uniformed. His assistant was also amazing and they both made me laugh which put me at ease. I would 100% recommend Osky Dental to all my family and friends. Thank you so very much Dr. Dan.

Dr. Schuster and staff always provide A+ customer service from the time you walk in the door, through the procedures, and even the billing process. I've been a patient of Osky Dental for many years and have had everything from cleanings to root canals. Dr Schuster has taken emergency calls on weekends when I've had an excruciating toothache, called in a prescription all the way to Wall Drug in South Dakota when I was on vacation, and didn't judge me once when I told him I have a difficult time with anesthesia due to being a redhead (google it!). My daughter had her wisdom teeth out yesterday and Dr Schuster and staff made sure to check in on her recovery. Exceptional service every time and he even makes shots as painless as possible! I will be a loyal patient as long as Dr. Dan is in practice.

We have been getting dental care at Osky Dental for 4 years. The staff are warm and welcoming and take the time to communicate. After having our daughter Dr. Dan was observant and aware of our needs as a family. At the time there was not a changing table in the restroom, he promised to get one and held true to the promise. I am grateful for the patience and communication given to my 5 year old as well during dental procedures. They are honest and compassionate.

Hey internet, my name is Matt and I have been a patient of Dr. Schuster my whole life. My wife developed a tooth ache during this whole Covid-19 shutdown, and it was extremely difficult to find a dentist near me that was available to see her on short notice. Even though we live in Dubuque (about 2.5 hours away) it was very comforting to know the Dr. Schuster was only a phone call away. He was able to see my wife for her dental emergency right away! While we were there, I found out that he actually never shut his office down and that he remained open for his patient's needs and emergencies. I also learned that he put into place procedures to protect his patients before the CDC even came out with guidelines or recommendations. I dont know about you, but to me these things show how much he cares about his patients. I can't think of any place that I would trust my growing family's dental care to more than Dr. Schuster and the awesome Osky Dental team. We seriously appreciate everything they were able to do for my wife and would never hesitate to make the drive to see them. Thanks Osky Dental!!
