As a child, Dr. Oshins always asked a lot of questions and took a huge interest in going to the dentist. The fact that he always liked caring for people, helping people, and liked finely-detailed projects like drawing and artwork drew him into the profession. Starting at an early age, he always enjoyed exceeding peoples expectations. Given these qualities, he knew dentistry would be the perfect fit for him. To Dr. Oshins, dentistry is not a job, it's a hobby. He loves being a dentist because it's fulfilling in so many ways.
Dr. Oshins graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, he was one of two students across the United States selected for an internship at the United States Penitentiary Atlanta, where he worked under the most prestigious dentists in the Federal Government.
Upon graduation, he completed a two-year residency at Ellis Medicine in Guilderland, NY. During his second year of residency, he worked with various local oncologists and cardiologists and developed protocols for patients before starting chemotherapy, radiation treatment, or cardiac surgery. He stayed on as a staff dentist until 2000 when he opened up his own private practice. Dedicated to providing his patients with the most effective, up-to-date, and proven dental treatments, he pursued multiple post-graduate programs in advanced dentistry, studying under the top dentists in the world, such as Dr. John Kois, Dr. Frank Spear, Dr. John West, and Dr. Ronald Jackson, completing over 100 continuing education hours each year. Dr. Oshins is also a graduate of the renowned Kois Center, an advanced didactic and clinical program for practicing dentists. This includes completing a comprehensive, rigorous nine-course curriculum with the latest advances in esthetic, occlusion, implant, and restorative dentistry.
Dr. Oshins furthered his education by completing a dental sleep medicine residency at the University of North Carolina in April of 2019. He is now able to incorporate all that he has learned in the field of dental sleep medicine from the brilliant minds of Dr. Mayoor Patel, Dr. Terry Bennett, and Dr. Gregory Essick, to make snoring and sleep apnea care a part of his dental office. Dr. Oshins is able to help his patients that may have a sleep breathing disorder and ultimately add years onto their lives by creating oral appliances to open their airways. And thats not all. Dr. Oshins continues his pursuit of excellence today as he works toward certification as a Diplomate of Sleep Medicine.
Gerri has an impressive 30 years of dental experience, and she says she still loves her work and enjoys helping patients of all ages overcome their fears to achieve optimal oral health. In addition to her dental hygiene training, she is also certified in the administration of local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation. She exceeds the requirements for continuing education each year and has extensive training in periodontal (gum) therapy.
Gerri lives in Esperance with her three childrentwo are in college and her youngest is in high school. When not attending her childrens track and field events, she spends her free time hiking, skiing, practicing yoga, and having a great time with her very large and fun extended family.

My friend recommended Dr. Oshins to me. From the first visit, I could see why she spoke so highly of him and his staff. I had some trust issues going in, because of some unfortunate experiences with prior dentists, but he and his staff put my mind at ease. He immediately earned my trust. He thoroughly explains and shows you everything, so you know why it's needed. And he's extremely skilled at what he does. Dr. Oshins is the first dentist I've had who actually knows how to numb properly before a procedure. He restored my faith in dentistry. I recommend Dr. Oshins to anyone who is looking for a dentist!

As soon as I walked through the door I was warmly greeted by Sarah, whom I felt like I'd known for ages through our previous phone conversation. Irina took some x-rays in such a kind and gentle fashion. Then I had an extensive consult with Dr. Oshins. (I had also spoken with him previously on the phone, and he made me feel at ease.) I knew I was in good hands, and could totally trust his judgment. What a comforting presence he has, and his expertise is far-reaching. I was also able to get a cleaning done by Gerri, who explained things to me I had never heard before. She was amazing! This is definitely the A-Team as far as professionalism goes, but also a group of genuine and caring people who have concern for more than just your teeth.

What a phenomenal couple of experiences I've had at Oshins of Smiles. This team cares about excellence and treated my Husband and I with such kindness. BEST dentist ever!! I will start by saying I have an intense fear of having dental work done due to very painful past dental experiences. After going to Dr Oshins and having completely painless dental work I can not imagine going anywhere else. He is kind, gentle and thorough going above and beyond to insure his patients have top of the line care. I am beyond grateful for his dedication to making his patients healthier and able to walk out of his office smiling a little bigger than before, inside and out. Dr. Oshins is without a doubt a good dentist. He took his time and explained where I was at with my dental health and thoroughly explained all my options. Not real happy with the pricing and I was then scheduled for a cleaning which I again canceled due to the cost. I have been waiting almost a week now for my records to be sent to my new dentist. Not real pleased at this point.

I've been a patient of Dr. Oshins for 20 years! Now I bring my grandsons. He is up on all the latest technology and embraces continual education. He has a great personality. All Staff are pleasant and very helpful. Dr. Oshins understands and my needs and delivers the solution. I recommend him whenever I get an opportunity.

50 years of going to lesser quality dentist practices make me glad to be a patient of Dr Oshins. Minimal discomfort and maximum thoroughness in a clean setting, is standard here. Dr Oshins takes the time to provide helpful knowledge and advice on maintaining a healthy mouth. I don't mind going to the dentist office anymore. Two enthusiast thumbs up.

I had my first visit at Oshins Of Smiles for a toothache. The office was very clean and followed Covid screening protocols. Dr.Oshins and his assistant were very professional and did an excellent job explaining my options. I would highly recommend this office.

I chipped my tooth Monday from my kids cereal & needed to be seen to get it fixed. The woman I spoke to on the phone was so pleasant and shared some laughs with me - she scheduled me right in for Monday afternoon! I was seen & evaluated on same day & scheduled to come back Wednesday (today). I had such an amazing experience, Dr Oshins did everything to make sure I was comfortable. He completely numbed me first try- I had NO pain & felt comfortable the whole time. I found myself in quite a bit of pain and discomfort with a tooth that no doubt needed to be extracted. I reached out to Dr. Oshins and was accommodated immediately. From the minute I stepped into the office, and until I left I felt a sense of comfort and relief. A day later I received a follow up call from Dr. Oshins to check on my progress, a practice that is incredibly appreciated, other health professionals often have another staff member follow up. A week later I am feeling incredible relief. The professional attention I received put me at ease, and I'm thankful for modern medicine and the team at Oshin's of smiles.
