The path to my career as an orthodontist was certainly not a linear one, but the orthodontic seed was planted early on in my young life. My dad began his career as an exceptional general dentist who decided to return to school after service in the army to complete his orthodontic residency.

There he laboriously trimmed, polished, soaped and dried them to allow them to be viewed for future diagnostic analysis. As this was pre-digital age, he would later share with me the many amazing success stories (the beautiful smiles he created) by showing me before and after models and slides.

So, it wasnt a huge leap when I decided ultimately to pursue a career in dentistry and eventually the specialty of orthodontics. I joined my fathers practice full-time after graduating and was able to spend the next 10 years practicing next to my dad before he retired. This was truly a blessing and an incredibly transformative experience for both of us. We both believe that our patients are part of our extended family, and I consider it a gift that I have been given to be able to really make a difference in the lives of my patients.

After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University in 1977, I went on to perform an additional year of biological studies at Boston College. The next year I began my dental studies at the University of Connecticut, where I graduated in 1982 with my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Then, I began my orthodontic residency program at Columbia University, where I graduated with a Certificate in Orthodontics in 1984

I strive to provide the highest standards of orthodontic care to my patients and maintain memberships in a number of vital organizations in order to stay on the cutting-edge of changes and technological advances.

I routinely attend continuing education seminars and have lectured nationally to my colleagues on advanced 3-D diagnostic technologies in the digital age at various orthodontic meetings. My most recent article on the subject appeared in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

My team and I have also received numerous awards for our accomplishments with SureSmile. I was also asked to be one of the few orthodontists nationwide to serve on the SureSmile advisory board and faculty. I have always prided myself on staying ahead of the curve and have recently enjoyed teaching other orthodontists around the country about virtual treatment and the future of orthodontics. As a clinical associate professor at the University of Connecticut Department of Orthodontics, I also enjoy instructing and sharing orthodontic knowledge with my residents to help prepare them for their future career in our specialty.

I met my wife, Bebe, in New Haven. At the time, she was acting as Coordinator of the Child Life Program at Yale New Haven Hospital. We have been married for 30 years. After completing my residency training, we moved back to Fairfield to the same neighborhood and street that I grew up on. We have two children, Lauren and Evan. Lauren is a TV writer in Los Angeles, and Evan is a BioPhysics PHD candidate at Stanford University.

In my free time, I am an avid golfer and now share my passion with my son. Exercise, music, the Connecticut Huskies and electronics help me to relax, but spending time with my wife and two children is what I really enjoy and value outside the office. Together, my family takes pride in being involved in our community. By supporting many organizations, local sports teams, area schools, synagogues, churches and many patients endeavors, I have been able to give back to the community that has helped me fulfill many of my dreams.

Our most recent advancements include 3-D digital imaging via theSureSmile Treatment Process.
