Dr. Murthy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (UPENN), where he was the recipient of the Matthew H. Cryer Award for academic excellence. After completing his Dental Medical Degree, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Comprehensive General Dentist serving the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. He was stationed in Hampton, Virginia; Seoul, South Korea; and Tampa, Florida. Upon completion of his service commitment, he returned to UPENN to complete his specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Murthy has achieved board certification via the Gateway Program from the American Board of Orthodontics. He will present cases to his peers every few years to maintain his board certification status. Furthermore, while in the Air Force, he completed an additional residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry, which allows him to combine all aspects of dentistry during diagnosis and treatment planning. He is an active participant in national and local dental and orthodontic societies, such as the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontistsand Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Murthy grew up in Queens, New York. In college, he majored in Biology and participated in Army ROTC. He moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to pursue his dental degree and his orthodontics specialty training. He practiced orthodontics for several years in a well-established practice in Philadelphia before moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts.
While Dr. Murthy is passionate about his career as an Orthodontist, his greatest joy is being the best father that he can be to his twin boys. He lives in Belmont with his boys and their kitties, Tigger and Goldie Man.

Katia is in charge of the schedule and patient flow, and works alongside Dr. Murthy to engage with potential new patients and their families. She graduated with a degree in Social Communication with focus in Journalism, which has been a huge asset as she helps our practice grow in our local community. Katia enjoys seeing the results of Dr. Murthys cases. She is fascinated by the progress that can be made with peoples orthodontic treatment.
In her free time, Katia loves spending time with family and friends. On the weekends, she and her husband love exploring new parts of New England. They enjoy tasting local beers and wines and paring them with their favorite meals, especially barbecue in summer and cheese fondue in winter.

Meticulous Dr. Murthy! My 2 children have been in the practice around 5 years. Dr. Murthy is thorough in his explanations and willing to answer any and all questions. Dr. Murthy works with precision and uses state of the art technique and technology. Dr. Murthy shows empathy towards my children. Dr. Murthy is a father with children (in braces) of similar age so he understands their concerns. Dr. Murthy's staff are kind and efficient. My calls are returned within 20 minutes sometimes. The office is immaculate and full of children's artwork. I have recommended friends to Dr. Murthy with no reservations, he provides wonderful orthodontic care.

They claimed that I missed 3 appointment, and terminated my son from their office and stopped his treatment. I found it very odd that they accuse me of 2 missed appointments from over a year ago. Several weeks back I had to cancel an appointment for the 1st time by leaving a voice message the night before. This caused their office (Sarah ) to call and accuse me of missing 3 appointment. In this conversation I informed her that this was my 1st cancelled appointment and she ignored what I was saying and continued to accuse me. I went into the office to speak to Sarah and schedule an appointment, she immediately got defensive and accused me of lying about my missed appointments. I expressed that I never received an email. The doctor stormed out in a loud voice and interrupted the conversation I was having with Sarah and stayed that he is stressed out and that Im not allow to miss appointments. I explained that their must me an error, and he didn't let me talk. As a woman I did not appreciate his response and the way he stepped up to me with anger. It was a horrible experience, as of they had to be right.

I just had my braces taken off after two years. Overall great experience. Never had to wait for more than 5 mins, appointments start and end on time. The team is very friendly and professional. When I broke my braces a couple of times they scheduled me in right away, never charged extra. During covid times had to reschedule many times, no problems. Yea, would highly recommend this place.

I would highly recommend this practice. Dr. Murthy is extremely kind and smart. He always answers all my questions and covers and concerns I have. He does a great job of explaining his work and always makes sure I have a pleasant experience here! Moreover, the practice is always clean and feels super welcoming and it's always so easy to get an appointment that works for me! I would 100% recommend this practice to everyone!

My experience at Orthodontics of Cambridge has been absolutely top-notch in a variety of ways. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Murthy's impressive expertise and appreciate his affable, engaging demeanor with patients as well as his patience in explaining the orthodontic process whenever I ask. His office manager, Katia, is a model of competency and professionalism, and is always pleasant and responsive when I've interacted with her. Moreover, the office itself is tastefully decorated and immaculate, and quite convenient with its proximity to Fresh Pond and off-street parking. Finally, I am thrilled that my smile has been dramatically transformed. I am so grateful for the excellent care that I have received from Dr. Murthy and his team and would highly recommend Orthodontics of Cambridge.

Less than an hour ago, I got tailgated and nearly run off the side of the road by a dark colored Toyota vehicle bearing multiple Orthodontics of Cambridge stickers (license plate ending in 314). The driver was so aggressive that he drove through the bike lane AND INTO THE GRASS to pass me on the right...on Greenough Blvd, where the speed limit is only 25mph. It's very hard to positively ID someone who is driving that aggressively, honking and swerving, but considering the bumper stickers I do not want to rule out that this was Dr. Murthy himself. I would not trust him anywhere near my mouth, after that sort of aggressive and reckless behavior.

I am an adult patient of Dr. Murthy. I don't usually write reviews but needed to because Dr. Murthy has quite literally transformed my smile and face!! I finally have the confidence I have always wanted. When I first saw Dr Murthy he offered me my chose of traditional braces, lingual braces, or Invisalign. I just finished Invisalign. I am so happy I trusted you with my teeth and I will miss visiting the office. Thank you Dr. Murthy!!!

Life-changing!! For my adult braces journey, no one in Massachusetts is better than Dr. Murthy. I was very nervous about getting braces at 37. I needed to fix my bite and was unhappy with my teeth alignment. But being educated at The University of Pennsylvania, serving as an orthodontist and Captain in the US military, and opening up his own practice gave me confidence in his abilities. I have been 110% pleased!! Katia, who will book your appointments, always makes me smile and is incredibly professional when it comes to her office responsibilities. I am about six months in on my approximate eighteen month journey with Orthodontics of Cambridge. So far, so good! I have no complaints and am optimistic about the remaining months and outcome. After a generous and thorough consultation at Dr.Murthy's office, I was sure his office was who I wanted to work with. Katia, in the office, is always a pleasure to schedule with and Dr.Murthy is a wonderful, extremely knowledgeable professional. I saw him today for the fifth time and especially appreciated his warmth and receptivity!
