In 1984, he received his dental degree from the University of Maryland Dental School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with several scholastic achievement awards and was ranked seventh out of 124 dental students. After graduation, he was commissioned by the United States Air Force as a dental officer and he completed an advanced general dentistry residency during the first year of his Air Force career.
After eight years as a general dentist, Dr. Carter earned a highly competitive Air Force scholarship and attended the University of Michigan where he received his Master of Science degree in Orthodontics. He chose the University of Michigan because it is a traditional leader in the field of orthodontic research and education. Dr. Carter is a certified, orthodontic specialist that uses only proven and predictable state-of-the-art techniques. As a bonus for his patients, his past advanced general dentistry experience keeps Dr. Carter mindful of his patients general dental health while he orthodontically designs a winning smile for each child or adult.
Dr. Carter served his country in Arizona, England, Japan, and at Dr. Gary Carter, the American Association of Orthodontists the Air Force Academy. He left the Air Force in 1996 after twelve years of honorable service during which he was decorated with the Commendation and Meritorious Service medals. Professionally he is a certified orthodontist, a published scientific author, and he is a member of the American Dental Association, Utah Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Utah Association of Orthodontists, and the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists.

When your braces or your childs braces are removed, Dr. Carter will offer to reshape the edges of your teeth if they are chipped or worn. He calls this procedure Hollywooding and it can dramatically improve your smile line!
To make your beautiful, straight teeth look WOW, we also offer three types of teeth bleaching procedures. The most economical choice to whiten your teeth is the prescription strength Crest White Strips. A better choice is to make custom bleaching trays from molds of your teeth. A special peroxide gel is used in the trays to whiten your teeth. As a third choice, we can use our convenient, one-hour, Rembrandt Sapphire bleaching process. This new procedure is done in-office where we use a special, plasma-arc light to enhance the bleaching system. This awesome procedure can lighten your teeth up to ten shades! I am thoroughly impressed with Dr Carter's staff and skill. We had a consultation for my 8 year old and the staff were interactive with him as if he were family coming to visit for dinner! My son was comfortable and all smiles the entire consultation. While there, I asked if he could improve my flattened, old looking teeth. Although not a normal patient there, he told me that he can help and created these natural "incursions" which make me feel and look younger!! Thank you so very much to Dr Carter and his wonderful staff!!

Dr. Carter and his staff are all amazing! I cannot say enough about the service and professionalism they bring to the relationship. My older son did not get the benefit of using Dr. Carter. I went somewhere else to get my night guard done, but they didn't adjust the night guard to fit my jaw for me. When I wear it at night it feels not comfortable to sleep with , and my jaw still hurting. I called doctor Gary Cater office to schedule appointment with doctor Cater. He told me to bring the night guard with me when I come in for my appointment. He took a looks at my night guard that I made from other place and he adjusted it to fitted my jaw perfectly, and my jaw not hurting anymore, plus l feel comfortable to sleep with it. I would Recommend this place to anyone. You won't disappointed Thank you so much Dr Cater.

I had some pretty bad teeth and was told I'd have them in for 2 years. Dr Carer is the best he set the requirements and what I needed to do and he would get on the phone with me if I had an issue (which was very few and far between) and I got them off at a year and a half. He made it feel like I was coming to family, I highly recommend him and his staff. Julie, Sarah, and Katie. are all amazing I'd give them 10 stars each if I could. Thank you Dr Carter I can smile bigger because of you.

Having been to several dentist and orthodontist in my life, I can honestly say that Dr Carter is the very best. He really does care about his patients, and he makes sure to show it. All 4 of my kids have absolutely loved him. His staff is wonderful and friendly. They do their best to accommodate your schedule, and make your life easy. We have been more than pleased with our results, and would recommend him to anyone for any reason!
