Orthodontics, for Dr. Jeff, has been a family affair. He enjoyed practicing with his father, Dr. William Thompson, from 1983 to 2001, when Dr. T retired.They have authored numerous scientific articles, and written and published textbooks and chapters on orthodontic techniques, biomechanics, orthodontic engineering, and facial aesthetics. They have patents on numerous orthodontic braces and auxiliaries.

Having lectured all over the country at almost every college residency and graduate program, they have also spread their orthodontic knowledge overseas to nine countries at their associated orthodontic departments. By working with leaders in his profession and being actively involved in the development of current technology, Dr. Thompson continues to pursue excellence in his specialty.

Dr. Jeff was raised in the Bradenton/Sarasota area since 1960. Upon graduating from Manatee High School with honors, he pursued his education at The University of Florida in Gainesville. After a focus on architecture, biology, and medicine, he was accepted to and completed his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at U of F College of Dentistry at Shands Hospital in 1983. This was followed by being the first U of F dental graduate accepted into the orthodontic graduate residency program, which he completed in 1985. He believes that continuing education is vital in order to provide excellent patient care and is a lifelong endeavor. He trains constantly and consistently exceeds the requirements for continuing education each year.

Returning home from college, he immediately began enjoying practicing with his father at their established West Bradenton facility. In 2001, Dr. Jeff opened his east office by Lakewood Ranch. Both offices are full-care facilities and are open every week.

Dr. Jeff is a member of the College of Diplomates for the American Board of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Orange Coast Orthodontic Study Club, and Delta Sigma Delta Dental Honor Society. He is a Diplomate to the West Coast Dental Association and past president of the Manatee County Dental Society and all its levels. He is an Eagle Scout, a past commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America, chairman of the Manatee Technical Institute Future Directions Committee, and an original director/founder of the Wildcats Youth Football League.

Melissa has worked in the field of orthodontics and with Dr. Thompson since 2003. Her favorite thing about the practice of orthodontics is the professional, inviting, and growing practice itself, and that the staff complements each other well. Melissas favorite thing about working with Dr. Thompson is that he takes his job to heart. She enjoys seeing the joy he has when he makes patientssmiles beautiful. Her favorite thing about her job is that she gets to be as creative as she desires.

Melissa is a native of Merrimack, New Hampshire. She currently lives in Bradentonwith her husbandJeff, daughtersBryanna and Ella Grace, and sonsEvan and Easton. Melissa enjoys working out, cooking, and spending time with and enjoying each one of her children.

Janean has worked in the field of orthodontics with Dr. Thompson since 1996.She loveswatching Dr.Thompson interact with the patients and watching the before and after of each patient, meeting new people and building relationships with the patients.

A native of Florida, Janean has lived in Bradenton since 1970. She has a sonJoey, and a daughterKristi. When not working with Dr. Thompson, she enjoys reading, cooking, spending time with family, and church.

Darla has worked in the field of orthodontics and with Dr. Thompson since 1988. Her favorite thing about the practice of orthodontics is being a part of a team that contributes to creating a positive outlook for patients. She loves what our office stands for and how the doctor and staff work together to make beautiful, healthy smiles. Darla feels that her work has been and will continue to be one of her greatest opportunities.

Darlas favorite thing about working with Dr. Thompson is that, for many years, the workhas proven to be a real asset for her because of the establishment of a certain trust. Dr. Thompson has given me the freedom to help the practice grow by allowing my ideas to become realities. Working in this capacity keeps everything fresh and has proven beneficial for the growing practice. She truly enjoys the consistent mind stimulation of running the behind-the-scenes part of the practice. I have been here for 20 years and still enjoy what I do at my job and this title carries a lot of responsibilities and never leaves room for monotony.

Brenda has worked in the orthodontic field and with Dr.Thompson since 2014, but she worked for an oral surgeon for 24 years before that. Her favorite thing about the practice of orthodontics is watching the patients transform their smiles. Her favorite thing about working with Dr.Thompson is that he has a great sense of humor and makesthe patients feel special when he is at their chair.

Brenda is a native of Columbus, Ohio,and moved to Florida with her husband. When shes not at work, Brenda enjoys biking, boating, going to the beach to search for sea shells and spending time withher husband and family. She has a son who serves in the US Air Force and is currently stationed in Aviano, Italy with his wife and two daughters.

Brianna is a recent graduate of Smile Smart that is located on State Road 70 in Bradenton, FL graduating with a certificate in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting and a certificate in Radiology. It is a pleasure working with Dr. Jeff because he truly cares about his patients. Seeing the patients outlook of themselves change is the best part of working here. I love how we all work together as a team.

Briannawas born and raised in Bradenton.She loves spending quality time withher husband as well asher family and friends.She goes to church every Sunday andvolunteers there weekly.She likes to play games (board games, card games, video games).She loves spending time outside in nature, reading books and rock climbing.

Courtney recentlymovedto Sarasota, FLfrom Maryland in 2017.She had workedfora General Dentist for 4 years beforeworking forDr. Thompson.Courtney has her heart set on Orthodontics and gives our patients the best care.She loves working with Dr.Thompson and everyone in the practice. She says everyone is family toher here.She likes being able to build relationships with all of our patients.
