After graduation from Tufts Dental School and completing a one-year General Practice residency, which involved a significant amount of emergency dentistry and head and facial trauma, he continued on with a two-year orthodontic residency at Montefiore-Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Podhouser focused on joining an established practice in Mainea place he fell in love with after a college ski trip to Sugarloaf.
Dr. Podhouser started practicing at Orthodontic Associates in 1992 and added a satellite office in downtown North Conway in 1996.Dr. Podhouser works hard to continually evolve OA into the most modern and technologically innovative orthodontic practice in northern New Englandincluding a recently added digital scanning machine that replaces those uncomfortable impressions that many patients dread.
Dr. Podhouser is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an esteemed position awarded after presenting cases to a panel and passing a rigorous series of exams. He is highly involved in the dental community at the local and national level, including volunteering with the Maine Medical Center Cleft Palate Team and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists; New England Orthodontic Study Club; Maine Orthodontic Association (past-president) and Greater Portland Dental Society (past-president).
Eric was a dentist in the Philippines before moving to the U.S. and then he served in the US Navy for 8 years before joining OA in 2002. At OA, he is the Operatory Manager and oversees our website and social media pages. He is married with two children and enjoys golf, table tennis, bowling and playing music.
Rita has been with OA for 26-years and is currently our Treatment Coordinator, which involves setting up new patient plans so they can get their new smiles underway. When not at work, Rita enjoys time with her husband, daughter and a rascally yellow Lab.
Lorie recently celebrated her 25th anniversary with OA! Her first introduction to the practice was getting braces at eight-years old with OA founder, Dr. Tanner. (We are glad that didnt scare her away!) Now Lorie is our Financial and Insurance Coordinator. She is a proud mom to a daughter who is getting ready to start her senior year in high school.
Sara wears hats of both Clinical Assistant and Treatment Coordinator. She has been sharing her bubbly personality with OA for over seven years. When not at work, Sara loves listening to music, getting together with family and friends and squeezing in beach time during the short Maine summers.
Nadine is the newest member of the OA team and is a Treatment Coordinator. Outside of the office, she enjoys being outdoors, traveling and shares her love of animals by volunteering at the animal rescue.
Jackie has been a Clinical Assistant at OA for 24-years. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, running and camping with her husband of 29-years and her grown children (as well as a spoiled five-year old Springer Spaniel). She loves music and especially line dancing.
Amanda is a registered dental hygienist and graduate of the University of New England. She loves the beach and boating on the ocean. One of her favorite things to do is haul lobster traps around the islands with her husband, Nate.
Nancy has been in the dental field for over 25-years as an assistant, front desk and billing coordinator. She really enjoys working with patients and seeing the changes in their smiles. She has also been a firefighter/EMT for over 20-years so helping people is very important to her. In her free time, her husband and she enjoy antique trucks, camping, traveling and snowmobiling.
Shannon lived in Maine all of her life. She especially loves fall when she hikes and goes on adventures with her goofy German Shepard, Rondo! In the summer she spends her free time on the boat traveling to places she has never been. Shannon is a new assistant in the office and looks forward to learning a new profession.

Both of my kids see Dr. Podhouser for orthodontic care and we couldn't be happier. He is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, while being warm and personable. Everyone on his team is always helpful, going out of their way to make visits as convenient as possible. It was even easy to work out the financial aspect of treatment for two kids in braces at the same time. I can not say enough good things about everyone at this practice!

Recently finished my 1 yr + 1/2 Invisalign treatment (changed out my aligners each week using the VPro5, which I highly recommend. Cut the treatment time in half). My teeth were severely overcrowded, crooked, and had multiple cross bites... Along with Invisalign, they shaved small amounts of enamel between teeth (totally easy and painless) to make more room in my small mouth without having to needlessly pull teeth. The staff at OA is one of the friendliest, most competent and accommodating. They answer the phone right away and they kindly addressed any concerns I had during my treatment. I would choose them again a thousand times over.
