Orthodontics is so rewarding because I get to interact with so many kids, and they are a whole lot of fun to work and hang out with! I love keeping up with what they are doing in their day-to-day livesfrom work to school, the vacations they take, what teams they play for, and the milestones they make in their lives. We revel in their successes and feel their sorrow during their difficult times as well.
Good orthodontics is about setting goals and following a plan to achieve them, and Ive found that the best results come from teamwork. This is a vital concept that we all take to heart in our practice. Ive been blessed with a dedicated team of people who all share the philosophy that all patients deserve our time and undivided attention.
I participate in various orthodontic continuing education courses throughout the year regarding digital technology enhancements for our practice, as well as the latest in treatment methods. As an office, we strive to stay ahead of new treatments and digital enhancements to make our patients more comfortable with their care and treatment results.
Ive also held faculty positions as a Clinical instructor Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry for the past 26 years and a Clinical instructor at the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation for Orthodontic Research and Education for 13 years. These teaching positions allow me to constantly verify my treatment planning and delivery skills with residents and highly skilled faculty from the University of Michigan and around the world.
I grew up in Lathrup Village and currently live in Bloomfield Hills. My wife Maureen and I have been married for nearly 15 years and we have three children, Max, Gabe, and Melanie. We have lots of pets including three dogs, a snake, a bearded dragon, two fish, and several birds. Its a veritable zoo that we and the kids love.
When Im not in the office, I can be found at one of the local and not so local ice rinks watching my kids practice or play games as all three play for local teams. When there are no sports to go to, we can be at home spending time fishing and playing on our trampoline raft in the lake.
I am passionate about the positive change that I see during my patients treatment. I understand that so many of my patients are held back by the fact that they do not think their smile is acceptable to others. I love when I see their confidence grow as the treatment progresses.
As a team, we are dedicated to creating an exceptional experience for our patients. From the moment they walk into the office, they will feel like they belong to a special place. We treat our patients how we would like to be treatedlike family!
I receive extensive continuing education through local and national dental and orthodontic meetings. I also teach at the University of Michigan and the Charles H. Tweed foundations orthodontic course, which keeps me on top of all the latest technology and advances in orthodontics.
Dr. Hummon and I pride ourselves on using the latest technology to provide the best experience for our patients. We have eliminated the need for most goopy impressions by having two intraoral scanners that scan the teeth for our study models and our retainers. We also recently incorporated a 3D printer to create models without using fragile and messy plaster.
My wife Deanna is a hairstylist and also takes care of our three kids. People joke that we specialize in working from the shoulders up! We have two girls, Katherine and Julia, and a boy named Tommy. We also have a black lab named Diesel and a miniature longhaired dachshund named Stella who is super cute.
When Im not in the office, I like to spend time outdoors. We live by Lake St. Clair and if I am not in the water, I am at trying to get there. If it is cold, I try to get on a mountain and do some skiing. Most of all, I also like to be with my kids at their sporting eventshockey, lacrosse, golf, and soccer to name a few.

I was very pleased after bringing both of my sons in for assessments. Dr. Hummon was honest and insightful with his findings. His professionalism gave me confidence in the decision for my sons' future ortho care. The facility was well kept and the staff was friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend them!

Dr. Gebeck and the entire staff at Orthodontic Associates are wonderful people. They are incredibly kind and patient. They do a thorough job and answer any questions or concerns you may have. During my treatment, I received a job offer out of state and continued my treatment with Dr. G whilst I was almost 1,000 miles away! Very accommodating and was glad I could continue to work with him to finish the process out. If you're looking for an ortho, I'd highly recommend Dr. Gebeck!

First time visit for consultation for continuing orthodontic treatment. Dr. Gerbeck was thorough and explained everything to me. Pre-appointment scheduling, reminders and covid protocols were great. I live downtown Detroit but office is in a great location on Woodward.

From the moment we walked in all of the staff was super friendly, there was even a pup in the office, how cool! Dr Gebeck was also very friendly, easy to talk to very relatable to myself and my daughter, he took his time and explained what he thought was going on, and only being a consultant, we.left there feeling very confident, my daughter is excited to get started.

I'm a grown woman with teeth that are "good enough" but with a cross bite and a full-fledged grinding / clenching habit (that 2020 really exacerbated) I decided to finally look into braces. I was really hesitant - would it be expensive? Am I going to look like a teenager with a mouth full of metal? How long will it take? From walking in the door and being greeted by a friendly staff member, to the COVID precautions in place I was immediately put at ease. Dr. Gebeck was kind, informative, and discussed my options. As a candidate for Invisalign the staff immediately checked my insurance and explained the full cost. The overall fee was much less than I had anticipated - so I signed on! They were able to immediately fit me in for measurements and a scan. The woman who helped me with this part of the appointment was professional and personable! I'm no longer dreading the process, I feel confident that I'm in professional hands, and am looking forward to having the mouth of my dreams!

When I go to Orthodontic Associates I feel like I am with my family. My three sons received braces from Dr. Gebeck many years ago and now it is my turn and I am in my 50's. Greatest staff ever! I don't know what I am going to do when I am done with my braces!

This has been such a positive experience for me, and a huge success. I wondered I was too old to straighten my teeth, but Drs. Hummond and Gebeck were incredible thorough and got the go-ahead from my dentist and a periodontist. Gebeck has been really wonderful to work with -- supportive, encouraging, responsive (even by text a few times), and reliable about the timing and tasks involved. I am in the home stretch of my Invisaligns and am truly amazed at the difference. I highly recommend this office for all ages.
