Our staff is a caring group of individuals dedicated to making you feel comfortable in our office while making every effort to ensure successful and effective treatment. They are all certified dental assistants and have over 50 years of combined orthodontic experience.
Dr. W.C. Coby Buchanan, Jr. graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University, with a B.S. in Microbiology. He received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry where he was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He received his masters degree in orthodontics at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Some of his research efforts in residency were recently rewarded with publication in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Buchanan is an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists, as well as the Texas Dental Association, and the Denton County Dental Society. Dr. Buchanan attends continuing education classes throughout the year to keep up to date with the continuous advances in the orthodontic field. Dr. Buchanan is committed to supporting the surrounding community. Throughout the year he takes the time to educate students by visiting local schools and is involved with local charities. Dr. Buchanan joined the practice in 2006 and resides in Denton with his wife and two sons. When not at the office, you can expect to find him spending time with his family, or pursuing his favorite hobby-bass fishing.
If you have an emergency, please call our office immediately. In most cases we will be able to see you that day. If the emergency falls over a weekend, or a day that we are out of the office, please call the office number (940-381-1988) and you will hear a phone number to call in the event of an emergency. The doctor or assistant on call will be more than happy to meet you and relieve you of any orthodontic associated discomfort. There are no additional fees for emergency visits.

Didn't choose him because our second opinion doctor said our daughter had good alignment for braces instead of his recommended extra procedure that would have added a year and $2k to our treatment plan. Also would not share the X-rays that I paid $375 for with the other doctor. Other doctor gave my kids X-rays for free.

We have gone to Dr. Buchanan for both of our boys braces. He and his staff are top notch, professional and made us all feel at ease. We will be taking my daughter to him as well when it comes time for her to get her braces. He and his staff put together a plan. He even suggested holding off on one of the boy's braces so we didn't get into a tough situation later based on development.

I needed an orthodontist to look at my permanent retainer, which I have had for almost 20 years. After a recommendation, I chose Dr. Buchanan, and I am so glad that I did. He and his staff are helpful and friendly. His prices were extremely reasonable and he took time to explain everything as we chose an approach together. Amazing doctor, will absolutely recommend!

We LOVE Dr. Buchanan and all of his staff. They are so friendly! Both my boys went through the braces process and their teeth look great. We chose Dr. Buchanan because he took the time to create a specific plan for each child and explained the process in detail. He had the foresight to ensure their smile and bite fit their face not just to get straight teeth. It made all the difference! Plus, I felt the cost was appropriate for each. As they grow their teeth/bite/smile still look awesome.

Dr Buchanan and his staff are outstanding! By far the BEST orthodontist we've ever had, and we've had three now with our four boys. Dr Buchanan is kind and considerate of the patient's needs/wants and also of the parents questions/concerns about treatment and anything else while in the office. I have no idea what that Daniel guy who left a one star rating was talking about! He obviously doesn't know Dr Buchanan or his staff at all! Dr Buchanan supports practically every patient that comes in asking for help with a fundraiser. He is an annual monetary supporter of Grace Like Rain (which helps Denton County families in crisis). He supports Denton Benefit League- which provides grants to Denton county non profits. He also supports First Refuge - which provides free dental and medical care. He does dental education presentations for surrounding schools and he contributes to many of the Denton area schools' athletic, band, fall festivals, etc and other programs when they have fundraisers- from elementary up to high school. Maybe talk to Dr Buchanan and his staff and find out what kind of people they truly are before you badmouth them for no reason!

HIGHLY recommend this place for their knowledge and talent, as well as all of their incredibly friendly staff. I started my braces process when I went to college in town and continued coming here for 2 years. I had extreme anxiety about all things dentist, and Dr. Buchanan made me feel comfortable from my first appointment. He answered every question I ever had with patience and usually humor. However, I moved out of state before I could get my braces off here! The reason I'm writing this review is because I went through a rough period where I could not afford anything, let alone keeping up with my braces, so I ended up keeping them on for a year longer than anticipated. The braces not only lasted through the entire mess, but I recently was (finally!) able to get them off, and my teeth are absolutely PERFECT. I used to have a snaggletooth and twisted teeth and chains and wires galore, but the ortho taking my braces off said whoever fixed my teeth absolutely knew what they were doing. I can smile with the most confidence I have in literal years. Sorry for the long review, but I am very thankful to the team that keeps this place going, especially Dr. Buchanan! Please consider coming here if you need good braces and friendly faces :)

We are so thankful for Dr. Buchanan! We visited another ortho who said my daughter needed braces and an expander. Dr. Buchanan really took the time to analyze exactly what she needed and proposed the least invasive plan for her! He truly cares about what is BEST for the patient! We are thankful for his honestly and kindness.
