After graduation from Tufts Dental School and completing a one-year General Practice residency, which involved a significant amount of emergency dentistry and head and facial trauma, he continued on with a two-year orthodontic residency at Montefiore-Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Podhouser focused on joining an established practice in Mainea place he fell in love with after a college ski trip to Sugarloaf.
Dr. Podhouser started practicing at Orthodontic Associates in 1992 and added a satellite office in downtown North Conway in 1996.Dr. Podhouser works hard to continually evolve OA into the most modern and technologically innovative orthodontic practice in northern New Englandincluding a recently added digital scanning machine that replaces those uncomfortable impressions that many patients dread.
Dr. Podhouser is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an esteemed position awarded after presenting cases to a panel and passing a rigorous series of exams. He is highly involved in the dental community at the local and national level, including volunteering with the Maine Medical Center Cleft Palate Team and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists; New England Orthodontic Study Club; Maine Orthodontic Association (past-president) and Greater Portland Dental Society (past-president).
Eric was a dentist in the Philippines before moving to the U.S. and then he served in the US Navy for 8 years before joining OA in 2002. At OA, he is the Operatory Manager and oversees our website and social media pages. He is married with two children and enjoys golf, table tennis, bowling and playing music.
Rita has been with OA for 26-years and is currently our Treatment Coordinator, which involves setting up new patient plans so they can get their new smiles underway. When not at work, Rita enjoys time with her husband, daughter and a rascally yellow Lab.
Lorie recently celebrated her 25th anniversary with OA! Her first introduction to the practice was getting braces at eight-years old with OA founder, Dr. Tanner. (We are glad that didnt scare her away!) Now Lorie is our Financial and Insurance Coordinator. She is a proud mom to a daughter who is getting ready to start her senior year in high school.
Sara wears hats of both Clinical Assistant and Treatment Coordinator. She has been sharing her bubbly personality with OA for over seven years. When not at work, Sara loves listening to music, getting together with family and friends and squeezing in beach time during the short Maine summers.
Nadine is the newest member of the OA team and is a Treatment Coordinator. Outside of the office, she enjoys being outdoors, traveling and shares her love of animals by volunteering at the animal rescue.
Jackie has been a Clinical Assistant at OA for 24-years. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, running and camping with her husband of 29-years and her grown children (as well as a spoiled five-year old Springer Spaniel). She loves music and especially line dancing.
Amanda is a registered dental hygienist and graduate of the University of New England. She loves the beach and boating on the ocean. One of her favorite things to do is haul lobster traps around the islands with her husband, Nate.
Nancy has been in the dental field for over 25-years as an assistant, front desk and billing coordinator. She really enjoys working with patients and seeing the changes in their smiles. She has also been a firefighter/EMT for over 20-years so helping people is very important to her. In her free time, her husband and she enjoy antique trucks, camping, traveling and snowmobiling.
Shannon lived in Maine all of her life. She especially loves fall when she hikes and goes on adventures with her goofy German Shepard, Rondo! In the summer she spends her free time on the boat traveling to places she has never been. Shannon is a new assistant in the office and looks forward to learning a new profession.

They decided to stop taking our insurance for my kid and she loves this dentist office I don't understand y they do this.

I went through treatment at OA years ago and had a great experience. I recently had a problem with my retainers, and the Conway office got me right in to fix them - much to my relief, because it was just a couple of days before my wedding! Everyone was as friendly and helpful as the day I got my braces off, and it's great peace of mind to know that the team is at the ready if I need help, even after all this time! I would definitely recommend OA to my friends and family!

Just got two kids out of braces and it was well worth it! What a difference! I appreciated the excellent care the kids received at Ortho Associates and especially was grateful for the ease with which they adjusted appointments when necessary to accommodate the kids' ever changing schedules. We are really pleased with the results we got here!

It is a bit of a travel for us but we are so happy with the level of care. I wouldn't take my son anywhere else. The staff is so kind but most importantly they all seem very happy doing their jobs! Thanks again to the Orthodontic Associates Team for making this such a positive experience for our family!

A friend recommended this office and I certainly feel comfortable rating Orthodontic Associates five stars. I have found everyone to be very friendly, professional and accommodating in every interaction I have had with them either in person or on the phone. Besides myself getting braces another member of my family just had the invisalign put on here also. I can also use the office in Scarborough Maine if I wanted which provides me some flexibility. Well worth the drive from Dover to North Conway.

10 years ago at the age of 56 I consulted with Dr. Podhauser about straightening my teeth. (I had consulted with other orthodontists in the past and had been advised not to pursue the idea as I had had braces in my teens.) Since that first meeting when Dr. P said he could help me, I have not had a single regret. The staff is wonderful. Eric got me through the jarring "glue" removal when I was had the braces removed and he has always been so kind and proficient. This decision was the best thing I could have done and this group of professionals are a joy. I am SO grateful to them for a confident smile.

Hi Carol! Thank you for stating your concern. Were you calling about a patient of our's? That's very odd because we usually see emergency patients a lot sooner than that, usually within a day or 2 and even on weekends that we are closed.

Tried to schedule an appointment. It was a 6-8 week wait just to have glue put on. No such thing as prompt service here.
