Lindsay Bettez Shortly after earning my degree in elementary education in 2005, I found myself seeking employment. By chance, I came upon an administrative position with an orthodontic practice through a friend. Though this was not in my field of study, I accepted the positionand it was a great fit for me! I fell in love with orthodontics and my work. I moved from Florida to Virginia and was very fortunate to have the opportunity to re-enter the field in a clinical capacity with Orthodontic Arts in October, 2011. I am excited to be a part of the Orthodontic Arts team and am enjoying a beautiful life here in Central Virginia with my husband and five children.

Jean FergusonI began working as a clinical assistant for Dr. Zechini in 1980, and now I enjoy my position as a member of the front desk team. I am mother and friend to one special son, Rocky. I also have a wonderful daughter-in-law and awesome grandson. I really enjoy spending time at the beach and try to get away to the North Carolina shores whenever I can. I have seen many smiles change over my years in orthodontics. Its a pleasure to help our patients gain a smile for a lifetime. I love working with all of my coworkers and the doctors because each person is unique in their own way.

Leah MayhughAt 12 years old, my father gave mean important lifetime gift, the gift of a great smile. Before having braces, I hid my teeth and never wanted to be in pictures or laugh in front of people. I have foundthat a great smile exudes confidence and opens doors for success. I have been blessed in life with a supportive, fabulous husband and three beautiful, healthy children. After being a stay at home mother for several years, I decided it was time to re-enter the workforce.Remembering my own orthodontic treatment was to me, my prayers were answered with a career opportunity at Orthodontic Arts! It is fulfilling as a treatment coordinator to see people transform through their treatment process at Orthodontic Arts.

Connie McCallWanting a new and exciting career, I joined the Orthodontic Arts team in August 2010 as the insurance coordinator. My past experience was in the medical field, and now Im in a fast paced orthodontic office and loving it! Orthodontic Arts was no stranger to my family because my two children were treated by Dr. Zechini and later by Dr. Prillaman. My husband and I were always impressed by the care and concern that was shown by the staff. Now Im here helping parents with their insurance questions. I have three children and one grandson. In my spare time, I enjoy decorating my church for services and special events, designing floral arrangements for weddings, and spending time with family and friends.

Amber RobinsonIve wanted to be in the dental profession since eighth grade. When I found out my high school had a dental careers class I jumped at the opportunity to explore the different specialties of dentistry. The one that caught my attention the most was orthodontics. I was excited when I got the chance work in an orthodontic office during one of my clinical rotations. I became part of the Orthodontic Arts family in July 2011. Although I was the youngest member, I felt welcomed and part of the team. I enjoy working at Orthodontic Arts. I have a wonderful little boy who keeps me busy outside of work. In my spare time, I love to read, catch the latest movies, and do fun activities with my super active son.

Sonya PrillamanI met Dr. Prillaman when we were both students at the University of Virginia, and we got married a few years later. I worked in the human resources field for the Federal government and in private industry before taking time off when we had our two daughters. I am the office manager at Orthodontic Arts and enjoy working with our staff and patient families to make our office an outstanding place for everyone. I stay very busy with our daughters, Emma and Phoebe, in their activities and sports. I am also involved in my church and enjoy reading and traveling in my free time.

Dr. Prillaman is absolutely wonderful! He truly went out of his way to help me even though I was a transfer patient with serious teeth problems. He is very talented, conscientious and kind. He keeps up with the research in the field and is brilliant at coordinating with other doctors. It's always a pleasure to work with Orthodontic Arts. The staff is wonderful. They are optimistic and fun, and are quick and effective about coordinating your insurance. They are on time, friendly, and run a creative upbeat facility. We are blessed to have them in Lynchburg!

I love this place! Not only did I have my braces done here as a teenager, when my teeth started shifting because I didn't wear my retainers, the staff was extremely friendly and gave me an extremely discounted set the second time I needed to get braces. Not to mention the arcade room, playroom, and complimentary coffee/hot chocolate I used during every visit. The decor was so nice, even when I was in the chair for my checkups, the ceiling was entertainment enough! I cannot think of ways to improve this awesome place!!

Today I spoke to Brenda to make appointments for my two children. Well let me back up. We made the initial appointments back in December 2019 for April 2020. We received a call from their office saying they had to cancel the appointments due to Covid-19 and that when things opened back up I would receive a call to reschedule. I understood, no biggie. After we went into phase 2, I waited a few weeks and then called and was assured that I was on the list to be called and they had many people to reschedule. Now fast forward to today. I called because I never got the call from them to reschedule. Brenda answered the phone. I explained the situation of not getting a call to reschedule. She told me they were no longer excepting patients that had Medicaid. I said so I guess that is why I never received a call back to be told this? She point blank said yes. WOW! I explained to her that their office comes very highly recommended and I really wanted my children to be seen there. I asked her what the policy was for payments if was decided that my children did need orthodontic care. She explained the process to me and I asked her to please go ahead to schedule my children's appointments for the consultation. Brenda then told me that orthodontic care was VERY expensive ( as if I wasn't going to be able to afford it), which I already knew due to the fact my son has already underwent a quad-helix and head gear when he was younger. Then Brenda proceeded to ask me if I wanted to go somewhere else that would take my insurance as it would be free for me and again reiterated that is was very expensive. I said no, your facility came highly recommended and sometimes you get what you pay for. Please make my appointment for my kids, thanks. I was then put on hold and somehow got disconnected. Brenda called me back and it went to my voice mail. She stated in the voicemail that she had put me on hold because she needed to go ask the office manager if they were going to be able to put me on the schedule at all and the office manager apparently told her is was alright to schedule me. I have NEVER EVER been so humiliated or degraded in my life! First off, you should have honored those patients that were scheduled prior to the Covid-19 shutdown. Second, even if you had decided to not except my insurance a phone call to tell me this would have been a business courtesy and third you should NEVER treat someone like common trash just because they have a state mandated insurance. Just for the record, The state mandated this insurance to my kids, I didn't ask for it. I have a good job and could have afforded your services. Your office should never treat someone poorly just because of an insurance carrier, you dont know what someones circumstances are so never judge that person. My worry is, if you treat someone on the phone like this how do you actually treat the patients that you assume are poor or not well off financially.
