Growing up in southeast Michigan, Dr. Hyduk graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He participated in a rotating internship at Sinai Hospital, Detroit, and completed an orthodontic residency at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack, New Jersey. At the age of 23, he became the youngest certified orthodontist to practice in the United States.

His professional engagements have led him to affiliations with the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, and the Michigan Association of Orthodontists. In 2012, he was elected President of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics one of the fields most prestigious organizations.

Orthodontics as it relates to psychological well-being has motivated Dr. Hyduk to perform extensive research in the field. Through partenerships with numerous hospitals and universities including Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hackensack, NJ, Montefiore Hospital, New York, NY, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, he has helped the medical community better understand the delicate relationship between degrees of facial deformities, patient self-esteem, and the role of an orthodontist. These experiences have expanded his expertise beyond the orthodontic office, influencing how he approaches care for all patients.

Dr. Hyduk is currently active on the medical staffs at William Beaumont Royal Oak and Troy, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and Pontiac, and Crittenton Hospitals Rochester, and is a senior team member of the Ian Jackson Craniofacial & Cleft Palate Clinic through the department of neurosurgery at Beaumont, Royal Oak. He is also works as an associate professor through the Department of Surgery at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, MI, and maintains a residency teaching position at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. He continues to teach and lecture both nationally & internationally.

By this time, your childs first permanent molars and incisors will have probably started to emerge, and Dr. Hyduk will be able to spot any subtle problems with the growth of the jaw. For girls, a check-up around age 5 is recommended due to their expedited development.

One of the main benefits of beginning treatment for your child at a young age is the ability to pursue Two Phase Treatment: an orthodontic approach that first addresses the proper relationship between your child's jaws, before correcting the alignment of their teeth.

Once your childs facial growth is complete (around age 10), the window of opportunity for impactful Phase 1 treatment closes. Corrections to jaw alignment later in life will require complete nonsurgical remodeling of the jaw or possible jaw surgery, so early childhood treatment is a much preferred alternative.

There is a common misconception that successful orthodontic treatment isnt possible for adults, yet the truth is that healthy teeth can be moved at any age. While our youngest patients are newborns (often with craniofacial anomalies or other birth defects) our our oldest patient ever was 82 years young when he revisited his childhood dream of having braces. Our experience has shown that orthodontic forces move teeth for adults the same as they do for children.

The primary difference between adult and child orthodontics is that childrens jawbones are still developing during treatment. Because of this, treatment plans for adults may include the possibility of orthognathic surgery since facial development has ceased. Often, though, we are able to disguise the jaw imbalance with non-invasive techniques, addressing the patients' chief concerns with a short-term approach to orthodontic care.

The following conditions may mean youre eligible for treatment: Gum or bone loss (periodontal disease) Worn, prosthetically restored and/or missing teeth Incomplete orthodontic treatment from childhood

Please note that veneers, crowns, and other bonding procedures are rarely considered acceptable treatments for teeth alignment, and thus should be considered in tandem and not instead of orthodontic treatment.

Beyond creating a more confident smile, orthodontic care for adults can lead to healthier mouths. With proper treatment, you can reduce the likelihood of tooth decay and gum disease by making it easier to brush and floss. And in recent years, a growing number of orthodontists have started uncovering new links between oral health and the overall health of your body.

Your temporomandibular joints (TMJs) connect your lower jawbone to your skull and are two of the most complex joints in the body capable of moving in infinite combinations that allow for speaking, chewing, swallowing, and yawning.

TMJ disorders occur when your jaw muscles and joints function improperly, leading to recurrent pain and spasms. Causes for TMJ vary greatly, though often are the result of facial trauma, arthritis, or severe stress. Millions of Americans suffer from undiagnosed TMJ disorders, and the highest incidence rates occur in females ages 20-44.

If you notice abnormal, recurring pain in your jaw, we recommend scheduling an examination. Dr. Hyduk will help you determine if you suffer from a TMJ disorder and will work with you to create a customized treatment plan to bring you relief.

Sleep apnea is a medical condition that temporarily obstructs breathing during sleep. A patient suffering from sleep apnea stops breathing hundreds of times during the course of one night, with each breathing pause lasting between 10-20 seconds. Each time breathing stops, the lack of oxygen temporarily wakes the body up and repeatedly interrupts sleep.

Left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to fatigue, headaches, and even high blood pressure, diabetes, and risk of heart failure. More than 18 million Americans suffer from sleep apnea today, many of whom proceed without treatment.

If you suspect you suffer from snoring, sleep apnea or other sleep disorders, consider scheduling an examination with Dr. Hyduk. Treatment plans vary greatly depending on individual needs, though often involve the use of oral devices that an orthodontist can prescribe to prevent throat blockage. Dr. Hyduk will assist with your diagnosis and will work with your primary physician and possibly other doctors to improve your sleep.

Stay far a clear of the Hyduk team. I had and still have an unfortunate experience. I got my braces on in 2015. I put $3,000.00 cash down and made $400 payments to pay the remainder of my $8,000.00 I was charged for the "best of the best" the doctor says, "the Ferrari of braces" he said. My treatment of supposed to be 1 year. Sadly I had a terrible incident happen to me in the summer of 2016. I was date rapped and went to a Trauma center out in Arizona the heal my Trauma. I still have PTSD and deep emotional issues. When I returned I paid my treatment off but this wasn't good enough. In order to keep seeing the doctor I was ordered to pay $110 per month. Even though I never signed or agreed to it because my $8,000.00 "Ferrari braces" were paid off. I went on and picked out my retainer, the $340 one because this was recommended by the doctor or my "teeth would move" he said. So this is what I bought. Later I get a $340 for "continued treatment" even thought my braces are paid off. I called Tina tried to explain my situation. They want no part in hearing me out. I now see a therapist because of the pressure and stress they have put me through. I haven't seen the Doctor for two months because I'm trying to send them money when I can to pay for the $340 bill. Today I got a bill for $490. I told them can we please remove my braces. But they will not until my bill is paid off but I don't have that kind of money. And they keep threatening me to put it into collection. I can not work because of my PTSD and Trauma. So my bill keeps getting higher because they feel they have a right to force people in to paying money or they threaten you with collection. Don't get into the same mess with these label money hungry people who have zero humanity. I'm am trying to move on with my life. But they keep reminding me that I am a victim of my past situation (date rape). I really feel hopeless and lost. How did I trust these people who have zero humanity to take care of my smile? They were so nice at first don't let them deceive you. There are millions are amazing good understand nice people in this world, they are not that. I thank God me the ME TOO stand that has been going on feels unbelievable comforting there are people out there that care.

Dr Hyduk and his practice in Troy have exceeded my expectations in providing orthodontic care for my 13 year old son. He had an impounded tooth which caused an asymmetrical bite. Delaying treatment for financial reasons, we were met with understanding and compassion at our initial consultation. Then, after learning about this exceptional doctor's superior credentials and amazing work with cleft palates, I knew we made the right decision. We were pleased to be accepted as patients and have received outstanding care with courtesy and professionalism at every appointment. Having gone elsewhere for my daughter 's care 4 years prior, I knew what a difference it would make to start off on the right path and be in good hands throughout this treatment. I am very happy thus far and it is very conforming to me. My son is going to have a great smile in the end. There is no better choice in my opinion.
