Orchard Hills Dentistry - General dentist in Yakima, WA

Dr. Connell was born and raised in Yakima. He earned his DDS degree at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and spent the first few years practicing in the Vancouver/Portland area before coming back to the valley.

Dr. Connell enjoys all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry and strives to bring the most up-to-date techniques to his practice through continuing education. He is licensed in IV and oral sedation. He is a graduate of the White Cap Implant Institute, where he furthered his training in dental implants; and he provides custom-made anti-snoring/sleep apnea devices. He also enjoys working with kids; with four children of his own, he is able to relate and make them feel at ease.

Dr. Young was born and raised in the Tri-Cities. He attended Columbia Basin College and the University of Washington where he earned degrees in Zoology, Psychology and a doctorate degree in dentistry (DDS). He moved to Yakima shortly after graduating and acquired the practice of the late Dr. Thomas Rosier.

Dr. Young has had the opportunity to learn and grow from years of experience in the dental profession. The knowledge acquired from listening to his patients, helping them with their needs and furthering his education through CDE training has allowed him to provide excellent dental care to patients of all ages. He especially enjoys doing cosmetic dentistry and seeing the patients face light up when they get to see their new smile for the first time.

Orchard Hills Dentistry - General dentist in Yakima, WA

Dr. James Innes was raised in Kent, Wa. After graduating from Western Washington University, where he studied Chemistry, he spent two years as a chemist analyzing hops in Yakima. During that time, he gained an appreciation of the valley and decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Innes attended NYU College of Dentistry, where he received his DDS degree. Dr. Innes has always enjoyed working with his hands, working as a part of a team, staying busy, and serving others. A career in dentistry seemed like a great fit. His favorite part about being a dentist is helping patients feel comfortable enough to access the dental care they need and ensuring they are able to maintain their healthy smiles.

Orchard Hills Dentistry will always strive to provide comprehensive dental care for the entire family. Our brand new, state-of-the-art facility was built to provide the most up-to-date dental technology and comforts including CEREC or same day crowns, digital x-rays, intraoral cameras and more. We also offer many forms of sedation dentistry such as IV sedation and oral sedation to help you feel as comfortable as possible. At Orchard Hills Dentistry, comfort and quality care are top priorities. Our doctors and staff understand your dental team is one you build for life and they take that responsibility seriously.

Dr. Young was great! Along with the rest of his team! My two-year-old son and I went in just for a pre-exam check-up, which I have never experienced before. It was great, no other dentist has been that detailed, made me feel very well taken care of. It's hard to bring my 2-year-old son with me places, but they were able to count all of his teeth and give me some advice on how to help keep up his oral hygiene. After they were done with his teeth, Dr. Young and his dental assistant started to work on mine and before my son could turn their facility into complete chaos and destruction, they put on Mickey Mouse through Netflix on a monitor ( has more functions that just showing us our creepy looking x-rays). And that was just the pre-exam!! we are going back for a cleaning in a couple of months. On the way out they even have a treasure chest that kids can pick out a toy. All in all amazing experience.

Out of my 22 years of living, I've been to multiple dentists and this was the first dentist felt like home, as odd as that may sound (I know a lot of people fear the dentist). The girls were amazing and the service matched that. I appreciate a place I can go and feel myself. Thanks, guys!

I had a great experience with Dr. Connell. I decided to get veneers on 8 of my top, front teeth, and I wanted to find a dentist that could sedate me and make my smile look great. Dr. Connell and his staff made me feel very comfortable. The sedation worked like a dream and the entire procedure went smoothly. The color we chose for my veneers is perfect and the shape of the veneers really balanced my smile. I am so happy I chose Dr. Connell to be my dentist. I couldnt have asked for a better experience I actually enjoy smiling now! Thanks so much!

We are a contracted provider for several insurance companies. Please call our office for the most up to date list. If you are free to choose your dentist, we would be happy to bill your insurance company directly for you.

We understand dental financing and the challenges associated with creating a new smile. Our staff may be able to offer you several options for payment. Our goal is to help you select the right option for your needs. We currently accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and CareCredit.

We are very proud of our fees because they represent the quality of care that you will receive. We use the highest quality materials, a great lab, and our staff is very highly trained. Each persons needs are so individual that in order to give you a an accurate estimate, we would need to see you for a new patient exam.

There are many things that determine how long a crown lasts: diet, home care and the kind of bacteria in your mouth. You will get a lot more life from a crown when you commit to routine recalls and exams. If you are able to do your recall and get regular checkups every 6 months, we can detect problems early on.

Fillings wear out because of the force of your jaw, the kinds of foods you eat and the temperature of your foods. As an example, chewing on ice is extremely bad for fillings. Ice is very cold as well as intensely hard. Another problem is that often times the silver filling doesnt break, but the tooth does! Because silver fillings are so rigid, they will generally hold up but your tooth will not. There is not a lot of resilience to the amalgam material so its usually a part of your tooth that will break before the amalgam breaks.

Tooth colored filling material has really come a long way. In the past, they would last anywhere from 5-7 years before they would start to wear out. Now the tooth colored material is better and stronger than ever before. Because of the mercury in silver fillings, many patients are choosing tooth colored fillings. The tooth colored material is a more popular choice for aesthetic reasons also.

A new filling can have some sensitivity to cold and sometimes to bite pressure. We do place a desensitizing solution that will help cut any sensitivity. We check your bite carefully. If you do have sensitivity to cold, this should gradually go away over time. Be sure to call us with any concerns.

Insurance company benefits are for basic services and 95% of adults need more than basic services. It would be better to have your treatment done now. You might break the tooth or the decay can get much worse if you delay. Preventative treatment, such as exams and cleanings, is always less expensive than emergency treatment. You are lucky that you have insurance, but I would not recommend waiting until your insurance renews for a service that you need right now.

With your insurance, our dental office is a third party in the relationship. The relationship really exists between the insurance company and yourself; the insurance companies wont always give us accurate information. Were happy to bill your insurance company for you. We cannot guarantee that this is the exact amount that they will pay and your will be responsible for any difference.

You were considered a routine adult prophy before and an adult prophy was paid at 100% by your insurance company. Your needs have changed and you now have signs of periodontal disease. This happens for a lot of adults. Sometimes its caused by aging; other times, the bacteria in your mouth can change. For some people, gum disease runs in their family. Its really important that you have your teeth cleaned thoroughly; this will be the best way to prevent more bone loss. If you lose the bone around your teeth, your can lose your teeth. With your insurance company, you benefit plan will pay approximately 80% for any periodontal service. Your deductible will also apply. Because your needs have changed, your insurance coverage has changed as well.

I was so impressed with this office. The front desk people are very friendly, the hygienist and assistant were friendly and efficient. I also took my brother there who is in the beginning stages of dementia. He has been to 4 appointments now and every time they are so patient and kind with him. When they came up with his dental plan they did a print out so he would know his full costs (which I thought were very reasonable) and said they take 50% down and will take payments on the rest! I am so impressed I recommended a friend and she was also so pleased with them. I highly recommend Orchard Hills Dental!

surprised i've never reviewed orchard hills because it's one of those places i love. Heather, my hygienist, is so wonderful. she's extremely gentle and comforting. I see Dr. Connell and though i don't get as much interaction with him, i always feel welcomed there. even the receptionists are super super nice and give off an energy that the whole office is fun and friendly (idk if that's totally true, but my experience tells me they probably are). since going to Orchard Hills, i have had really positive experiences with my dental care. LOVE LOVE LOVE orchard hills. if you're looking for a dentist, check them out! the take both my insurance and my husbands's (regence and premera)

From the first time we met, Dr Stephen Connell, has been a highly skilled pro and a kind and gentle hand. That's a big deal and such a selfless guy, he skipped I believe it was his lunch to get my mother in who had broken a tooth on the way over to Yakima for a visit, (she is from Montana) that's just the way Doc is. Couldn't give a higher rating or recommendation with no reservations or hesitation. He also used his deft skills and creativity to help me stave off a root canal that I needed for a couple years, with lesser invasive techniques. I ended up having it done but that 2 years to me was fantastic. Great team comfortable facilities, and they put up with rarely flossers (or as I call it semi occasionally) flossers like me.

The staff, and I mean all staff, from Kristy and Rachel in the office area, to the hygienists like Carrie, Melissa and Jessica, to Dr.'s Young and O'Connell, performing their jobs in a quality manner, but truly make their patients feel like family. I have always had a great experience at Orchard Hills and appreciate their excellent dentistry and attention to customer service!

My husband and I were treated poorly from ANOTHER dentist facility. A friend told us about Orchard Hills. We are so grateful! They treated us with the utmost respect. They always made sure our questions were answered and that our dentures fit properly. The staff genuinely cared and treated us like family rather than a paycheck. Thank you for the wonderful service!!!!!

The service at Orchard Hills Dentistry is phenomenal. The staff are very attentive and thorough. I'm someone who is normally pretty anxious about going to the dentist so naturally I was nervous going in my first time but that all quickly dissolved shortly after walking through their doors. My experiences here are always positive but the real star of the show is my amazing hygienist Heather! You will instantly be enticed by her great energy and vivacious personality. Most people will have a hard time showing enthusiasm towards their work after obtaining 25 years of experience under their belt but Heather clearly has a true passion for her profession. She's my dental guru and always gives the best advice on how to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Before I wrap this up I also want to give a shoutout to Carin at the front desk for being a great communicator. I definitely vouch for this office and their practices. They are all highly skilled professionals who consistently provide outstanding service. (If this review seems a little bias it's because it is. They're really that good.)

I have been going to this dentist since I was a little kid, (when Dr. Ellison owned the practice) and I must say that I have never had a reason to leave. The staff has always been very friendly and professional. They have always taken good care of my teeth and suggested practices that have helped me maintain a healthy smile. Plus Dr. Connell likes motorcycles so what's not to like. :) I would recommend to any family or individual looking for a Dentist.
