Dr. Tomkoria is a diplomate of the American board of Endodontics who received her predoctoral training in Biology at the University of California in Irvine and later added additional studies in business at Pepperdine University in Malibu. She subsequently graduated from Columbia University School of Dentistry in 2000, with her degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery.
After graduating from Dental School, Dr. Tomkoria went though a General Practice residency with University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Medical Center and worked with a number of non-profit community outreach programs in Los Angeles including the Union Rescue Mission. In 2001, Dr. Tomkoria moved to the private sector and practiced as a general dentist. During this time, she continued providing assistance to the under served.
In 2008, Dr. Tomkoria returned to USC as a resident Endodontist in the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry where she trained under the tutelage of endodontic founding fathers Dr. Wayne Bemis and Dr. James Simon. During this time, she provided key Endodontic research as well as published papers in endodontic journals with canal irrigation techniques, as well as tooth morphology / anatomy. She was also involved in research related to bone grafting. During this time, Dr. Tomkoria received her permit in Conscious Sedation under Dr. Stanley Malamed to better serve apprehensive patients.
She is a professional member of various local and national dental organizations which include the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, Harbor Dental Society, and Orange County Society of Women Dentists. She is also a member of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology as well as the California Society of Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Tomkoria continues to be involved withUniversity of Southern California as a part-time faculty member in the Advanced EndodonticsDepartment.
On a personal note, Dr. Tomkoria (Anita) is the loving wife and mother of four children Kaylie, Cameron, Caiden and Conner. Anita enjoys jogging, walks on the beach and Gwertzmeiner Wine while watching the sun set.
