Dr. Kahng is also Faculty and serves as anAssistant ClinicalProfessorat theUniversity of Southern California Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. She is passionate about mentoringfuture dentists and was awarded as2018s Outstanding Faculty. She also workson the Admissions Committee to select the best candidates to gain admission into this presitigous school. By working in academia, she can naturally stay 2 steps ahead of all the advances that dentistry has to offer.
Each year Dr. Kahng takes many hours of continuingeducation courses, at conferences and meetings, as well as staying abreast of the latest published research findings.Knowing its essential to stay current on developments in oral healthcare, she seeks out courses that will most benefit her patients. Growing up in a Christian household, giving back is a priority to Dr. Kahng. While in dental school, Dr. Kahng and 3 other leadersheaded anInternational Mission Tripto Fiji for a team of 30 dental students to treat hundreds of villagers.During the weekends, she also participates in theAYUDA program, supervising dental students as they volunteer to provide dental care for underserved children at elementary schools throughout Los Angeles and Orange County.
When not caring for her patients, Dr. Kahng loves taking her rescue pup, Hercules, to the dog park and paddle boarding with her husband.She also enjoys exploring new restaurants, as well as staying active with Pilates,Orangetheory Fitness classes,and gardening.Her guilty pleasure? Reality television on Bravo.

My name is Dr. Julianne Shaw and I am the dentist on Mondays atOrange And Magnolia Dental Studio since early 2017. Dr. Kahng and I work closely together to provide our patients with cohesive and streamlined care. I was born and raised locally in Tustin and it is wonderful to be back home.I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco and furthered my education by completing a General Practice Residencyat the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. My goal as a dentistis to provide our patients with the knowledge and education to maintain and improve their oral health. While prevention is my focus, if treatment is necessary, I strive to provide quality, patient-centered dental care with a gentle touch. Aside from the technical aspects of dentistry, my favorite part of the professionis getting to know each of my patients and creating a comfortable environment while also giving the patient a voice to feel included and informed.
I love to learn and I attend many hours of continuing education each year to ensure that I stay up to date of the technology and techniques essential to providing quality dental care for my patients. Giving back to the community is also very important to me. While living in North Carolina I had the opportunity to give back by providing dental treatment to elementary school children in rural communities who lacked access to dental care.
When I am outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and dog, Skip. Ivetrained and certified Skip as a therapy dog and on my days off I volunteer with him at a local elementary school in their reading program. My husband and I love being outdoors and enjoy running, hiking, and going to the beach.I look forward to meeting everyone and caring for their smile.

Love this dental practice. Dr. Joyce Khang is very professional, uses up-to-date techniques, and has a great chair-side manner. Very clean and modern office, with efficient and polite staff. Most importantly, quality care! I posted the above message some months ago. Just visited again and had my opinions reinforced. Hygienist Soji (sp?) excellent and efficient; Dr. Khang always professional.

Dr. Kahng and her staff were extremely welcoming and polite. Everything from the phone call to confirm my appointment to leaving the office was friendly. I have a very difficult time with x-rays and Dr. Kahng's assistant was patient with me and encouraging me to just breathe through it. Dr. Kahng has a very gentle touch to everything she does and I appreciated her thorough explanation of each thing she did. The visit gave me a better understanding of my general oral health and how I should maintain my teeth.

I went in for a cleaning and examination after receiving a referral from another dentist who I adored in the past. I am sure that Dr. Kahng does good work and this is more in reference to my personal experience during my appointment and leading up to my appointment. There were a few people I spoke to prior to visiting the office an hour away from me and most of them were helpful although I received conflicting information on a couple of occasions which was quite frustrating and I spoke to one person who was extremely rude and that should have been enough to make me look elsewhere. As for the appointment itself I found it to be rather unpleasant. The assistant was kind and made an effort to put me at ease (let's be honest it's hard to find a good dentist who is well skilled AND who has a good bedside manner). I have very sensitive teeth which I shared before the cleaning and Dr. Kahng referenced how sensitive my teeth were a few times in what felt like a bit of a ridiculing way as opposed to asking if I was okay or finding ways to ease the discomfort which other dentists have done in the past. They also didn't put any type of Vaseline or chapstick on my lips and my mouth was so dry the entire time and the constant cold water on my sensitive teeth was a bit much. She did take a lot of time to answer questions which I appreciated. The deciding factor for me was after I went to see another dentist for a consultation a week following my appointment and they are charging me literally 1/4 of the price per tooth and this is an amazing dentist (very skilled, really cares about preserving your natural teeth, and went above and beyond to make me more than comfortable while spending a lot of time educating me about the health of my teeth).This new dentist also indicated that the two teeth that Dr. Kahng said need to be filled actually do not need to be filled right now and explained how doing so now could adversely impact the health of those teeth in the future. I hope this feedback is considered so that positive changes can be made in the future. I'm sure Dr. Kahng is a good dentist, just not the right fit for me.

My first visit to a new dentist in 40 years! Everyone was perfect and took good care of me. Xrays, cleaning, full exam. The price felt right in line with my prior dentist (who retired). I feared the worst as I had not seen a dentist in about 2 years. But was reassured all was as well as could be. I will return in 6 months for cleaning and update on any further needs. I would definitely recommend. Adding my review of recent visit to the above - today being 4/19/22: A very great experience with Dr. Kuong and her staff. Had to redo old filling and crown. (And generally speaking, I am pretty much a Big Baby). I am totally impressed with her ability and her meeting my needs for hearing details. Dr. Kuong has that rare ability for kindness, communication and detailed technical dentistry. I felt I was in the best of hands. And no pain (except a tiniest bit from the needle - which I would not mention but just to assure you that she was the perfect person for that job!...constantly with me on the needle journey asking me how it felt, how I was doing, etc. - I feel very much trust in her).
