At Orange County Pediatric Dental Group we believe in providing true comprehensivePediatric Dentistry&Orthodontics. Dr. Renzi and Dr. House believe that our practice should be your childs dental home from the time he or she begins in the practice until he or she is ready to transition to a general dentist.

In providing comprehensive pediatric dentistry, your childs dental needs can usually be provided by Dr. Renzi and Dr. House. This provides continuity ofcare whether your child needs routine cleanings, a full mouth of restorations, orthodontic care, surgical care, or care of dental trauma. As your child is already familiar with Dr. Renzi, Dr. House, and our staff, he or she does not have to establish rapport with someone new. If your child is undergoing orthodontic care with us and needs teeth extracted as part of the orthodontic treatment, we can provide this service as well. Since Dr. Renzi and Dr. House have California Conscious Sedation Permits, if your child needs sedation, our office is equipped to provide this for your child. We provide general anesthesia services in-office or in the hospital operating room setting. Our practice also provides care for adults with special needs and Dr. Renzi and Dr. House maintain privileges for adult dental care at local hospitals.

The Advanced Pediatric Dentistry programs train residents in comprehensive pediatric dentistry, yet many pediatric dentists choose not to practice this way. We feel that it benefits our patients if they dont have to go to multiple locations and see multiple practitioners to seek care.Are there times when we refer patients to other specialists orpractitioners?Yes, when it is outside of our scope of practice or if it is in the best interest for the patient to be seen by another provider.When we refer patients to outside practitioners, we keep in contact with the practitioner and family to coordinate care. We also work with our patients physician, as appropriate, to coordinate care.

We take dental care seriously, but believe that children should have a fun, positive experience in the dental setting. Our doctors and staff use various techniques to make coming to the dentist something that your child will look forward to. In fact, we hear from many of our parents I dont understand it, but my kids look forward to coming to the dentist.

Dr. Renzi and Dr. House are Diplomats of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Pediatric Dentists complete a two to three year program after four years of dental school. During the training to become a Pediatric Dentist, the doctors learn about growth and development, child psychology, child behavior (and behavior management techniques) and receive more intense training in the dental treatment of infants, children, and adolescents. Skill and compassion go hand in hand when providing exceptional patient care. As dental professionals,we stay up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide the most current treatment options forour patients.As doctors,we recognize thatour patients are unique individuals who have placed a great deal of trust inour team. That is just one reason whywe value each and every patient relationship.

Dr. Renzi is a Southern California native who received his undergraduate degree in biology, as well as his masters degree in biology with emphasis in population genetics and ecology, from the University of California, Los Angeles. He earned his dental degree from Georgetown University and completed his residency in pediatric dentistry at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Renzi has been a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist for over 25 years and has been practicing dentistry for over 37 years. He maintains a conscious sedation permit and is a senior evaluator for the conscious sedation permit on-site exam for the Dental Board of California. Dr. Renzi has contributed to the community by being the Co-Chair of the Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) advisory board for the Irvine Unified School District. He continues to be involved in legislative issues that affect the profession of dentistry and the community. He has served organized dentistry by maintaining good working relationships with our elected congressmen. He continues to do in-office research and supports new technologies and develops new techniques. He has also served as an expert witness in many high-profile dental cases. He has a broad background in many fields that he brings together when formulating treatment plans for his young patients.

In dental school and in her residency, she enjoyed taking what she learned from different classes and seeing how the different information worked together. She applies this to pediatric dentistry by bringing your childs dental, orthodontic, behavioral, and medical needs together. She then works with the parents and children to develop a plan so that each child will have an outcome that is pleasing and successful.

Dr. Karilyn House is a Southern California native, growing up in Orange County. She earned her B.S. in Psychobiology from U.C.L.A.. She enjoyed being a Bruin so much that she wore the blue and gold for another four years, also completing her D.D.S. at U.C.L.A.. As Dr. House also has family members who are loyal Trojans, she decided to travel to the other side of Los Angeles, completing her Pediatric Dentistry residency at the U.S.C. Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

After completing her residency and earning the Hugh M. Kopel Annual Award (also known as the Resident of the Year Award), Dr. House returned to Orange County in 2000, where she has been practicing comprehensive pediatric dentistry in the private practice and hospital settings. She is a member of the Part-time Faculty of the U.S.C. Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry for the Pediatric Dentistry residents at CHOC Childrens Hospital in Orange.

Dr. House became a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist in 2007. In 2001, she received the Richard C.Pugh Achievement Award after scoring in the top 3% nationwide on the written portion of the Board Examination (now known as the Qualifying Exam). Dr. House is also one of the few pediatric dentists in California that maintains an active Conscious Sedation permit. She serves as an Evaluator for the Dental Board of California Conscious Sedation Permit on-site evaluation. She has served as a consultant for the CSPD Sedation Workgroup as legislation is being made to ensure that conscious sedation and general anesthesia continue to be practiced safely for children.
