The oral surgeryspecialists at our Oak Ridge, TN, and Crossville, TN, practice form a highly capable and dedicated team. We value building relationships with our patients and with the widercommunity. We also take a collaborative approach to treatment, coordinating with your general dentist, the dental lab, and any other specialists to ensure that you receive the most effective care. Drs. Andrew Cheung,Lindsey Nagy, and Travis Witherington each have extensive experience, and they have worked with the same surgical team for years.
Each of our surgeons has an extensive educational background and years of practical experience. We also have a veteran office staff, some of whomhave been with us since we first opened. Because we have been together for so long, we have a great rapport that has benefited many patients. If you are in need of oral surgery, we will work together to determine the best way to meet your needs.
We believe that oral surgery should be a collaboration. We will join with your regular dentist, prosthodontist, our dental lab, and any other necessary practitioners. By sharing our knowledge, we can enhance your experience and provide you with lasting results. Of course, you will also play a vital role as we plan your procedure. Our doctors will outline every possible approach, often using detailed images and software to educate you about your oral health. Our surgeons will speak to you with respect and compassion, using terms that you can understand.
Oak Ridge is a scientific community, known for the nuclear research in the nearby area. Culturally, it is very diverse. Our communityvalues education, research and development, and the performing arts. Our surgeons and staffare proud of the community and its commitment to higher education. We often partner with local high schools, providing opportunities for health sciences students to visit, learn about oral surgery, and explore possible career options. Our practice also partners with local colleges to enhance the educationof dental professionals. In addition, we provide American Heart AssociationCPR training to dental professionals and community groups.
We are also proud to lead our Manhattan Study Club. This is a study club of dental professionals in the community who meet monthly to collaborate on patient care. It is designed to make OSST an extension of the general dentists office. Currently have an average monthly attendance of 40 local dentists.
Of course, we are also committed to continuing education for ourselves. Our extensive training allowsus to offer a wide range of treatments and surgical techniques. As part of our cooperative approach, we often train other dental professionals in some of the newer and more advanced procedures.
Dr. Andrew Cheung completed his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1997. He received his dental degree from The University of Michigan in 2001 and completed postdoctoral training in a hospital-based General Practice Residency in 2002, followed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency from The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville in 2006. Dr. Cheung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Gratis Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a guest lecturer for the University of Tennessee Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and University General Dentistry (General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville). He maintains a private practice with Oral Surgery Specialists of Tennessee and has specific interests in office-based dentoalveolar and implant surgery, navigation/guided surgery and associated emerging technology. Dr. Cheung and his surgical partners at OSST have been asked to co-author a few chapters in the Fonseca Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery textbook and have published articles in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Nagy originally hails from Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School. Her initial introduction to the south east was during her four years of undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, but it wasn't until she returned to TN for her residency that she truly fell in love with the area.
Dr. Nagy graduated from the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2010. She joined the OSST team in August of 2010. She has enjoyed being an active participant in several of the local dental societies and study clubs includingsecond district, Roane County Dental Society, Anderson Dental Society, Cumberland Dental Society and the Manhattan Study Club. She also enjoys her affiliation as volunteer faculty with the Oral and maxillofacial training program at UT in Knoxville.
Dr. Nagy thoroughly enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery and is especially enthusiastic about all of the technological advances in the field that have helped enhance the profession. When not at the office, Dr Nagy enjoys all of the outdoor activities that East Tennessee has to offer including hiking, boating, wake boarding, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Cheung and his team over at OSST. From the front of the house, all the way to the recovery room this practice is absolutely fantastic! My 8 y/o needed to have surgery to remove a supernumerary tooth, and she was afraid of the IV. OSST took their time to make her feel comfortable, and safe. My daughter even wanted to go back AFTER her surgery to stop in and say hi. If our family ever needs oral surgery in the future, this is where we will go. And, we will certainly spread the word to our family and friends too.

Excellent service doesn't adequately describe my experience with Dr. Cheung and the staff. I felt like a family member being advised by professionals who really care about whats best for me. If you need Oral Surgery do not go anywhere else.

In August 2016 This was supposed to had been A free consultation with my insurance covering the x-rays but the surgery was too expensive and my insurance would not cover the surgery And I was lied to about them excepting Humana for the x-rays which was not covered Humana had spoke with them before I left their practice and they agreed to write it off because they claimed The x-rays and the free consultation was covered by them only if they were doing the surgery which they did not state that when I set up the appointment and when I got there and spoke with them before the consultation! Now this is on my credit report and it is June 18, 2022 giving me a bad credit report I will be contacting the news media and a lawyer because they are claiming I owe them $144! Which I am refusing to pay for something that was their fault! Thank you Brian S

There are no words to explain how amazing all the nursing staff, office admin, and Dr. treated my son!! Kindness and gentle goes a long ways with little people who is anxious and nervous!! My family is genuinely appreciative of them all!

Dr. Andrew Cheung and staff were great! Had oral surgery (2-23-2022) with literally zero pain after surgery! Can't believe it! Recommend highly. They were all very knowledgeable, explained all procedures (where I could understand) and executed with excellent skills! If and when I ever need oral surgery again, I will be a return patient. . . .they even called to make sure I was doing ok!!

Beyond impressed with this office! My 6yr old has autism & a lot of sensory issues that come with it. Dr. Nagy & her staff were outstanding with him. They took their time, explained well, & made him as comfortable as possible.

I was physically assaulted and treated extremely rudely by Dr Worthington at this place! The nurse told me I could accompany my father (a fearful dementia patient) to the room until he got his IV. I was careful to stay out of the way. But then Dr Worthington came in, grabbed my arm, and forcefully PULLED me from the room without a greeting or explanation before the IV was in. He then lectured me with obvious anger and told me to stay out, closing the door in my face.! As a medical professional myself, I am appalled by his actions and his attitude. DO NOT go to these people except for Dr Nagy!

Everyone seems really nice and DR is great. But one of the lady thats working there. I believe her name is Amy was VERY VERY RUDE. I came for help because I needed help. Because Im not train in this field. Patient comes to a DR's office for help. If you feel like they telling you about their problems are complaining then maybe youre in the wrong field. Theyre telling you so you can help them. I cant say or ask anything without her bashing me back. It's like arguing. I didnt wanted to argue. I NEEDED HELP. But overall this place is great. Just had bad experience with one person thats all.

I have had the most wonderful experience. Every single staff member was so incredibly sweet. I felt so comfortable with them, even having never been there before. They were so compassionate and understanding. I cried while I was in their care, not because of pain or nervousness, but because of how incredibly thankful I was to have found them and how they completely understood my situation. I would recommend this place to everyone in the area. I needed to be taken care of and they were the only ones who seemed to understand that.

I have never been to an office that every single person that I came in contact with was so nice and very pleasant. They explained everything to me down to the billing aspect and made sure I understood everything. I just wanted to say thank you to Chandra, JoAnn, Amy(RN), Sherry and the man/the bomb Dr. Witherington from the bottom of my heart you guys are awesome. If you need any type of dental procedure I strongly recommend this office you won't be sorry.
