We also take a collaborative approach to treatment, coordinating with your general dentist, the dental lab, and any other specialists to ensure that you receive the most effective care. Drs. Andrew Cheung,Lindsey Nagy, and Travis Witherington each have extensive experience, and they have worked with the same surgical team for years.
Each of our surgeons has an extensive educational background and years of practical experience. We also have a veteran office staff, some of whomhave been with us since we first opened. Because we have been together for so long, we have a great rapport that has benefited many patients. If you are in need of oral surgery, we will work together to determine the best way to meet your needs.
We believe that oral surgery should be a collaboration. We will join with your regular dentist, prosthodontist, our dental lab, and any other necessary practitioners. By sharing our knowledge, we can enhance your experience and provide you with lasting results. Of course, you will also play a vital role as we plan your procedure. Our doctors will outline every possible approach, often using detailed images and software to educate you about your oral health. Our surgeons will speak to you with respect and compassion, using terms that you can understand.
Oak Ridge is a scientific community, known for the nuclear research in the nearby area. Culturally, it is very diverse. Our communityvalues education, research and development, and the performing arts. Our surgeons and staffare proud of the community and its commitment to higher education. We often partner with local high schools, providing opportunities for health sciences students to visit, learn about oral surgery, and explore possible career options. Our practice also partners with local colleges to enhance the educationof dental professionals. In addition, we provide American Heart AssociationCPR training to dental professionals and community groups.
We are also proud to lead our Manhattan Study Club. This is a study club of dental professionals in the community who meet monthly to collaborate on patient care. It is designed to make OSST an extension of the general dentists office. Currently have an average monthly attendance of 40 local dentists.
Of course, we are also committed to continuing education for ourselves. Our extensive training allowsus to offer a wide range of treatments and surgical techniques. As part of our cooperative approach, we often train other dental professionals in some of the newer and more advanced procedures.
Dr. Andrew Cheung completed his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1997. He received his dental degree from The University of Michigan in 2001 and completed postdoctoral training in a hospital-based General Practice Residency in 2002, followed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency from The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville in 2006. Dr. Cheung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Gratis Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a guest lecturer for the University of Tennessee Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and University General Dentistry (General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville). He maintains a private practice with Oral Surgery Specialists of Tennessee and has specific interests in office-based dentoalveolar and implant surgery, navigation/guided surgery and associated emerging technology. Dr. Cheung and his surgical partners at OSST have been asked to co-author a few chapters in the Fonseca Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery textbook and have published articles in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Nagy originally hails from Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School. Her initial introduction to the south east was during her four years of undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, but it wasn't until she returned to TN for her residency that she truly fell in love with the area.
Dr. Nagy graduated from the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2010. She joined the OSST team in August of 2010. She has enjoyed being an active participant in several of the local dental societies and study clubs includingsecond district, Roane County Dental Society, Anderson Dental Society, Cumberland Dental Society and the Manhattan Study Club. She also enjoys her affiliation as volunteer faculty with the Oral and maxillofacial training program at UT in Knoxville.
Dr. Nagy thoroughly enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery and is especially enthusiastic about all of the technological advances in the field that have helped enhance the profession. When not at the office, Dr Nagy enjoys all of the outdoor activities that East Tennessee has to offer including hiking, boating, wake boarding, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

Miranda and Dr. Cheung were so great. I was taken on as an emergency case as a mess up of another oral surgeon. He did imaging, cultures, etc. He was able to do emergency surgery to place a drain tube and he prescribed the proper medications to help clear the infection that the other oral surgeon caused. Will continue to go to Dr. Cheung and Staff!

Let me start off with Dr. Chung is a very good Dr. But I have called both Crossville and Oak Ridge office to get my 15 year old daughter a time for her procedure because she needs 4 wisdom teeth taken out ASAP and have called them 5x still no call back. I will take my money to Cookeville! I am sure Dr. Chung will not appreciate losing money

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed on a Friday. They called to check on her on Monday. She explained she was still in pain. "This is normal". We called back on Tues "this is normal" called back on Thurs and I said she needs to be looked at. Two dry sockets!!' They rinsed her out (the nurse was very nice) and gave some medicine soaked cotton. It helped with the pain. However, one side still hurting and it's been 10 days. She asked if she could get more cotton for left side and they said no she could buy pain gel at the store!! I have 2 more kids to go through this and we will definitely NOT be back. It has NOT been a good experience. The nurse that rinsed her mouth out gets 4 stars. Everyone else My daughter has been very upset with this experience.

I'd rate no star if I could. Quote you one price then suddenly changes in doctors insurance plans result in exceedingly higher price. Then billing dept has issues with making payment plan. I'll drive to Nashville next time.

Horrible experience I woke up of course out of it and was told there was a hole in my sinus cavity not to sneeze ,cough , or blow my nose for a month and didn't explain anymore! They said it was already there but than why didn't they mention it before when x rays were took . I was giving a numbing shot only for pain that was supposed to last 3 days . It was wore off by the time I got home and I was in extreme pain . Can't ever reach the office when you need to

The front office staff, the nurses, Dr. Nagy, and every person I dealt with made me feel better! They warned me that I was being "worked in" and would have to wait. I waited maybe an hour but it kept me from having to suffer all weekend. HIGHLY recommend this office if you need any sort of dental surgery!!!

These people are SUPER amazing! I went and got my wisdom teeth pulled and I didn't get anesthesia, and they totally made feel so comfortable and not a bit scared! I highly recommend these people! Dr Andrew Cheung was amazingly friendly. If I had to redo this experience I am definitely going back to him!!
