Dr. Trent Westernoff is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with seven years of extensive surgical experience. He graduated with honors when he received his bachelors degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1994. In 1998, Dr. Westernoff completed his post-graduate degree, obtaining a doctorate in Dental Medicine at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, with cum laude honors. During dental school, he became a US Army reservist and was commissioned as a captain on the USS Constitution.

Wanting to pursue a profession in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Westernoff continued his education at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) residency program and the UCSF School of Medicine. During his six years at UCSF, he completed oral maxillofacial surgery training, obtained his medical degree (MD) and finished a year of general surgery training. In addition to his extensive education, Dr. Westernoff was activated and promoted to the rank of major in the US Army where he served for three years as full-time hospital staff at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. While there, he practiced full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery. He was deployed in 2005 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and served at a Combat Support Hospital in Mosul, Iraq. Dr. Westernoff received a Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding service while in Iraq.

Dr. Westernoff completed board certification for both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and he currently holds diplomate status in both organizations.

After completing nine years in the US Army Ready Reserve and three years of active duty, Dr. Westernoff and his wife elected to move back home to Southern California, where they are raising their family and continuing their professional careers.

Crowns for Kids Program The Community Outreach Committee at West Los Angeles Dental Society (WLADS) has been working hard to help the South Bay Childrens Health Center (SBCHC) provide dental care to dentally underserved children in our community. The Crowns for Kids Program, which was spearheaded by Dr. Westernoff, had a very successful first year. Any dentist can collect crowns from their patients. Its easy to ask, and patients feel like they are giving back, as well. You would be amazed how many people donate.

An estimated 10 million Californians experience barriers to dental care. The California Dental Association Foundation and CDA host CDA Cares, a program that allows volunteer dentists, with the assistance of other dental professionals and community volunteers, to provide dental services at no charge to more than 2,000 patients at each event.

Give Kids a Smile The American Dental Association started Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) nine years ago. It is the nations largest proactive approach to serving the dental needs of children from low income families who do not have access to care. The program includes education, as well as preventative and restorative care. GKAS takes place in every state. The program is supported by the California Dental Association. GKAS is an annual centerpiece to National Childrens Dental Health Month (NCDHM), and is observed every year on the first Friday in February, while NCDHM is celebrated during the entire month of February.

Western Los Angeles Dental Society (WLADS) has assisted in organizing a community GKAS event with the South Bay Childrens Health Center (SBCHC) for the past few years. As a member of the WLADS board, Dr. Westernoff has supported these events by recruiting volunteer dentists and securing supplies and funding.

In 2010, Oral Surgery Partners volunteered a weekend day for no-cost oral surgical services in support of the GKASs annual event with SBCHC. The success of this program was brought about through coordinated care with Dr. Megha Sata, who is the primary dentist at SBCHC.

We are looking forward to the next GKAS event on February 4-5, 2018, at the SBCHCs new location in Lawndale, California. Drs. Johnsin and Westernoff along with the [practice_naem] team expect to continue their support at their office in Redondo Beach.

Remote Area Medical (RAM) Founded in 1985 by Stan Brock, this Tennessee-based, non-profit organization initially provided remote medical services developed in the Amazon rainforest for the Wapishana Indians. Since then he has expanded his services to remote and underserved areas throughout the world.

RAM sponsored two Los Angeles events in August 2009 and April 2010. Approximately 700 volunteers donated their time and talents to thousands of needy Southern California residents. Each event spanned approximately seven days and provided free medical, dental and vision care to approximately 8,000 uninsured or under-insured patients.

Oral Surgery Partners joins forces with Everyone for Veterans. Dr. Trent Westernoff and Dr. Martin Mardirosian are proud to support local veterans by participating in the Everyone for Veterans. This valuable program pairs local, under-served veterans to participants in order to receive needed services and support.

Very professional, beautiful office, kind and caring staff. Dr. Mardirosian was extremely thorough during my daughters wisdom teeth removal consult. The procedure was efficient and she seems to be improving every day. My daughter loved that she got to listen to her favorite music and sing along with the tech in the room (I wish I knew his name!). I am pleased with our experience!

Everyone was very helpful during both the consultation and surgery. The doctor followed up with me after the procedure which I appreciated. The one thing that could have been more helpful is more details in the post-op instructions

Very courteous and professional office. I had a tooth extraction with general anesthesia. Office staff, prep staff, and doctor were all friendly and confident. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars was they forgot to send me the internet paperwork, which would have informed me that I was going under general anesthesia instead of a local. But, so far so good on the tooth, which is the important part.

I had an incredible experience yesterday. Unexpectedly I had to have a molar removed. I was scared and not looking towards this experience but I must say that not only was the surgery quick and painless- all I had were the numbing injections, but the surgeon, the nurses and the assistants were absolutely amazing. Efficient, caring, very well versed in their responsibilities and totally caring about my well being while I was there. The doctor called me last night to inquire how I was. It turns out that my neighbor goes to them also and we can not say enough good things about this practice. I would recommend everyone to this facility. Truly a great experience and no bleeding or discomfort after the surgery. They are the best! And I have been to others so I do have a point of comparison.
