In 1982, he earned his Doctorate ofDentalSurgeryfrom the Medical College of Virginia;and in 1990, he completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery with the U.S. Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Ford is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He has been appointed to the position of assistant clinical professor in the Department of Otolaryngology (ENT/Head & Neck Surgery) at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Ford is the go to provider for complicated oral surgical care. His special interests include obstructive sleep apnea and coordinated orthodontic surgical care.
Dr. Ford is a former director of the Division of Oral Medicine at EVMS and currently an assistant professor of oral andfacial surgery at VCU. He is an active member of numerous local and national medical and dental societies. Dr. Ford is a retired captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve and U.S. Air Force. He was mobilized during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, during whichhe provided extensive care to our troops.
Dr. Guter is a native of Bogota, Columbia in South America. He grew up in Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University, as well as The Ohio State University of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Dr. Guter is a Diplomate and member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Guter is a former director of the Division of oral medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School and an active member of various dental and medical societies.
Outside of the office, Dr. Guter enjoys golfing and travel. He is an active member in his church and looks forward to the annual mission trip with Graceful Giving in El Salvador, providing dental treatment to those in need.

I don't even know where to begin. I have severe anxiety when it comes to doctors, hospitals and of course major and minor surgeries. I needed to have 4 wisdom teeth and a second moral removed (wisdom teeth were impacted)for a total of 5 teeth. Dr. Ford and his wonderful team took such GREAT care of me and were so gentle in trying to ease my anxiety. They gave me as much information during the process of sedation that they thought my anxiety could handle and threw in several jokes along the way to further ease my worry. Dr. Ford is truly AMAZING at what he does and his bedside manner is impeccable!!! OST is a wonderful oral surgery practice and we are extremely lucky to have them in the Tidewater area! While I hope I don't have to visit again anytime soon ( lol anxiety) if ever I need oral surgery I will have no questions about where to make my appointment. OST has a patient and referral for life! I had been referred to OSTVB for some extractions. The process so far from scheduling to completion of consultation, the staff has been nothing but phenomenal and reassuring. Lenni in reception, Jahveena, Dr. Ford's assistant, Dr. Ford and Laurie covering the financial and insurance aspects were incredibly accommodating, friendly and professional. I'm one with pretty intense anxiety related to anything dental, and through their combined efforts, all of my fears have been allayed. Now just to finish the procedure and be on to recovery. The staff was so professional from the receptionist to the Dr. Assistant (Nikki) , the financial person( sarah) and finally Dr. Guter. They all made me feel so welcome. I felt no negativity and seen no negativity with the staff. I even made a comment to the financial person that every one here is so friendly. Thank you all!!! Everyone is awesome. Update: On 9/8/22 Dr. Guter performed my implant. He always makes sure I am comfortably before he starts..either a pillow under my knees or a pillow behind my neck. Dr. Guter is so professional to his helpers who are assisting him. I was very happily surprised when I received flowers later that day of my implant. Its been a year long process of my implant . It is the last step of my journey. I will miss Dr. Guter and his staff. They always made me feel important and cared for. Thank you for your warm welcoming from start to finish. You are the best!!!!!
