Though Dr. Yamamoto was born in Urbana, IL, he was raised in Honolulu, HI, after his family returned to their roots. Originally, Dr. Yamamoto wanted to be a social worker so that he could help people. After a couple of years gaining social service experience, he decided he wanted a change, so he chose to return to Illinois and attend dental school. He was inspired by his uncle, who was a dentist, and felt that hed enjoy the profession and the opportunity to work with his hands.

After beginning his education and volunteering to gain experience, Dr. Yamamoto discovered his passion for surgery. His wife encouraged him to pursue his dream, and so Dr. Yamamoto began his journey to become an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Dr. Yamamoto is extremely interested in orthognathic and trauma therapy but ultimately found his niche in implants. The most rewarding part of his job is his ability to restore someones health with implant therapy. He enjoys the chance at completely changing someones life with treatment.

Dr. Yamamoto completed his undergraduate education at the University of Hawaii, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. After realizing later on that he wanted to pursue dentistry, he was encouraged to apply to dental school. He chose to return to Illinois to attend Northwestern University. In 1988, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Societyand received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

After dental school, Dr. Yamamoto participated in a one-year general practice residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During this residency, he discovered his love for surgery and chose to continue his training by completing a four-year oral and maxillofacial residency at the University of California in San Francisco. During this residency, Dr. Yamamoto completed specialized training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He gained hands-on experience in the treatment of a wide range of oral and facial afflictions, and he also trained alongside licensed anesthesiologists, making him the highest qualified dental professional to safely administer all forms of sedation.

Outside of work, Dr. Yamamoto enjoys a variety of hobbies and activities. He enjoys teaching dental residents at the Lutheran Medical Center's AEGD program at Kokua Kalihi Valley Health Center. He enjoys spending time with his family, andhe also enjoys traveling with his wife now that his children are grown up and out of the house. In addition to traveling, Dr. Yamamoto enjoys music and the arts, and when he gets the opportunity to visit colder climates, he also enjoys snowboarding.

Dr Mike Hironaka and his assistants Jaelynn & Nicole were immediately kind, welcoming & incredibly professional. You can instantly feel the comradely in that office and professionalism during the procedure. It was my first time visiting that office and staff and I can honestly say that I'd definitely recommend them and will definitely return and very likely to use them for my next procedure. Very personable and comforting. The notifications leading up to the appointment & post is also a great benefit.

I was referred to Dr. Thomas Yamamoto by my dentist for implant, but I also did my own research by reading reviews. Getting dental work done is not something I enjoy and especially with this implant, I was very very nervous. But I am so glad I choose Dr. Thomas Yamamoto. Dr. Yamamoto is wonderful at explaining the procedures and taking the time to ensure you fully understand. He is gentle, warm and caring by always asks if you're doing ok or feeling any pain. I can definitely say that Dr. Thomas Yamamoto is a great dentist to go to. And his team. They all are friendly, welcoming and making me feel comfortable. Truly grateful for both Dr. Yamamoto and his amazing team!

(Translated by Google) I had a great experience with Dr. Yamamoto. I was nervous and scared before the treatment, but Dr makes me comfortable and makes sure if everything is ok. All staff members are very nice and friendly. I am so happy that I had an implant treatment there. I recommend Dr. Yamamoto. Mahalo It was very depressing to have the implant treatment. When I went to the office on the day, the staff was very friendly and the doctor was attentive from beginning to end, and the treatment was completed in less than an hour. I am satisfied with everything. If you are considering implant treatment in the future, we recommend Dr. Yamamoto. I hope you are well treated now. The Dr. himself is nice and comforting. He made me feel confident and comfortable during and after the surgery. I've been having some trouble and anxiety about my post op after getting all four wisdom teeth removed. More than 2 weeks later and my facial structures are still strained and aching. I called a few times after my post op and even went in to see that everything was fine which was comforting. But the phone calls with the medical staff were not comforting and are not the nicest to talk to, therefore I do not want to reach out again. Additionally, I would've liked a little more information and service. No one told me bringing headphones was an option and they forgot to send or tell me what prescription I would be getting. I had to ask them to send it over.

Dr Craig Yamamoto and his great staff did an excellent job with my implant procedure and I would highly recommend his office for your implant needs! Dr Yamamoto took the time explaining in detail what he would be doing. The procedure was amazingly fast, painless and the duration of time it took for the entire process was very fast. His chair side manner, surgical skills along with his highly trained staff and the most up to date high tech diagnostic digital X-rays and equipment were very impressive! He even included a 3 -D Digital X-ray of my implant area so I would not have to get fitted for a cap when I return to my general dentist, making it so much more convenient and expediting the process. Thank you Dr Yamamoto and staff!!

Very friendly walking in but not on the phone. The staff were friendly, but they could have done a better job communicating what insurance doesn't cover BEFORE the surgery started. I guess they assume you'll just pay whatever. They also just told me to take OVER THE COUNTER 200mg ibuprofen when my pain after was so bad for so long I had to go to the ER for something stronger. They seem so young and just spoke on their issues during surgery as if I wasn't there. The staff all seem so young and i was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Before surgery I asked about getting a stress ball or something doctor proceeded to tell me that "Daniel" can get it but after asking for it twice since I was so nervous, my request was ignored. I also wanted to take my teeth with me and they just trashed it.
