Though Dr. Yamamoto was born in Urbana, IL, he was raised in Honolulu, HI, after his family returned to their roots. Originally, Dr. Yamamoto wanted to be a social worker so that he could help people. After a couple of years gaining social service experience, he decided he wanted a change, so he chose to return to Illinois and attend dental school. He was inspired by his uncle, who was a dentist, and felt that hed enjoy the profession and the opportunity to work with his hands.

After beginning his education and volunteering to gain experience, Dr. Yamamoto discovered his passion for surgery. His wife encouraged him to pursue his dream, and so Dr. Yamamoto began his journey to become an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Dr. Yamamoto is extremely interested in orthognathic and trauma therapy but ultimately found his niche in implants. The most rewarding part of his job is his ability to restore someones health with implant therapy. He enjoys the chance at completely changing someones life with treatment.

Dr. Yamamoto completed his undergraduate education at the University of Hawaii, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. After realizing later on that he wanted to pursue dentistry, he was encouraged to apply to dental school. He chose to return to Illinois to attend Northwestern University. In 1988, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Societyand received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

After dental school, Dr. Yamamoto participated in a one-year general practice residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During this residency, he discovered his love for surgery and chose to continue his training by completing a four-year oral and maxillofacial residency at the University of California in San Francisco. During this residency, Dr. Yamamoto completed specialized training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He gained hands-on experience in the treatment of a wide range of oral and facial afflictions, and he also trained alongside licensed anesthesiologists, making him the highest qualified dental professional to safely administer all forms of sedation.

Outside of work, Dr. Yamamoto enjoys a variety of hobbies and activities. He enjoys teaching dental residents at the Lutheran Medical Center's AEGD program at Kokua Kalihi Valley Health Center. He enjoys spending time with his family, andhe also enjoys traveling with his wife now that his children are grown up and out of the house. In addition to traveling, Dr. Yamamoto enjoys music and the arts, and when he gets the opportunity to visit colder climates, he also enjoys snowboarding.

Excellent care for my teenage daughter for her wisdom teeth extractions. Dr. Hironaka took the time to explain everything and he did amazing work. My daughter was a little worried about the procedure but she left her appointment saying "that wasn't bad at all". Staffing was fabulous and did great follow up calls. The whole experience was very thorough and positive and we felt very taken care of.

Dr. Kitsmura and staff worked on both my sons for extraction of their wisdom teeth. The process from initial consultation to the surgery has been well organized, informative and preparation videos helped a lot. It helped reduce any anxiety that my sons had. Surgery was quick and staff followed up the day after. Very friendly and efficient!

My experience with my first dental implant is as my review 5 stars, professional and service orientated. I personally would highly recommend Dr Eva and her staff at Oral Surgery Hawaii Pearl Ridge. Between Dr Eva and my dentist Dr Kay they both did a bang up job on my implant. If needed implants is the way to go. Big Mahalos

Dr. Kitamura and staff were very professional and efficient. They made accommodations for me as I was experiencing excruciating pain that required an emergency extraction. I was a candidate for a same-day implant, and therefore I took the opportunity. I am actually in the dental field myself and had little knowledge about implants. The dental coordinator had my questions answered, and the surgical assistant (Michelle) was very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable in spite of the situation I was in. Throughout the procedure, Dr. Kitamura and the assistants were very professional and communicated so smoothly with eachother that you just knew you were in the right hands. Dr. Kitamura continuously asked if I was in any discomfort, and genuinely made it a priority for me to have a painless experience. The procedure was quicker than I thought. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I just remembered...some time between my procedure and follow up appointment, I scraped my gum in the surgery site and couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Called their office and had immediate response from their team, and their instructions made it stop. I'm so thankful for them; they really made a stressful situation from start to finish just a seamless experience. I've heard so much good things about them that I knew if I ever needed their expertise, they'd be the ones I'd call. So, I'm glad I was in their hands! They have multiple locations which made it very accommodating. When you have a hot tooth, you know there's no waiting around. Thank you so much Dr Kitamura and staff...you guys are the best!

Oral Surgery Hawaii is the best for many reasons. Dr. Yamamoto is a master of his craft and represents the excellence in the dentistry field. His surrounding staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly. I went to Oral Surgery Hawaii to have a implant done. The surgery and post op went very well. The surgery was fast and easy and speaks to the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Yamamoto and his staff. The post op care was good as well. Dr. Yamamoto also always made sure I knew what was going on. Overall, the implant process was a great experience and very important to me which is why I'm glad I made the choice to go to Oral Surgery Hawaii. I would recommend Oral Surgery Hawaii to family and friends.

Holy cow was I scared of having a tooth removed and an implant placed! I even started tearing up during the surgery! But Dr Eva was incredibly kind, encouraging and patient, and kept checking with me that I was ok at every step. It didn't hurt, it was just scary! Then afterwards I kept waiting for the pain, swelling and bruising, only to find that I had NONE of these! Not one iota of pain AT ALL. I told her at a follow up appointment today that she has magical powers or something because it went so well. Seriously, go here. These reviews aren't fake, the office staff are kind and friendly, I could keep going on and on.

Dr. Eva and her entire surgical team were incredibly accommodating, informative, and eased all my fears by answering the mountain of questions I brought to them. Their office corresponded every appointment with my General Dentist. I felt everyone was well informed with my specific case and it made me feel well taken care of. Dr. Eva walked me through the entire procedure, there were no surprises. The actual surgery was much faster than I expected and I only needed to take Ibuprofen afterward. I did not require any other pain medicine, It was actually quite painless! I went to work the next day. Dr. Eva is very kind, smart, and understands human emotion. Her bedside manner is A+. It is not easy to lose a tooth in your smile zone due to trauma. I am thankful I was referred to Dr. Eva and had this excellent experience during a difficult transition to a new smile. My implant healed in 2.5 months and is ready to be restored! The process is much faster than that of the past. Technology has advanced so much and Dr. Eva has all the knowledge of the latest and greatest. Go see her!!

The whole process of extraction and the installation of an implant was a little scary at first and I didn't know what to expect. I was a little confused on what was going to take place, but Dr. Yamamoto explained everything in great detail so that I understood exactly what was going to happen during and after the process. The staff was very friendly and also I really liked the koa wood at the Ala Moana office. I would highly recommend anyone needing implants to see Dr. Yamamoto at Oral Surgery Hawaii as I am very pleased with the results.
