At our oral surgery practice in theSanta Fe, NM, area,we make your health and aesthetic needs our top priorities. Dr. Sean M. Healyand Dr. Diego Hurtadoarehighlytrained oral surgeons who use advanced technology. We also have a team of experienced implant coordinators. These staff members will act as patient liaisons, helping you every step of the way. Additionally, with various types of sedation and computer-guided implant surgery, we can ensure efficient care that involves minimal discomfort and recovery time.

To qualify as an oral surgeon, Dr. Healy and Dr. Hurtado underwent four to sixadditional years of training beyond therequirementfor a general dentist. During this time, they focused exclusively on surgery and general sedation. This education included training in the latest techniques and innovations in the field. With this impressive background, we can ensure outstanding treatment results with a negligible risk of adverse side effects.

At our practice, we strive to provide completely personalized care. We know that oral surgery can be a major decision, and we want to make the process as easy as possible. For this reason, we have two implant coordinators on staff, who will serve as your personal liaison throughout your treatment. Your liaison will manage scheduling and treatment planning. She can also explain our financing options and help you find a solution that fits your budget. You will have your liaisons email address, so she will be readily available to answer any questions that you may have.

Both of our implant coordinators have 10 or more years of experience with implants and oral surgery. Your liaison will be able to walk you through every aspect of the implant process, telling you exactly what to expect and alleviatingany concerns you might have.

Our advanced technology enables Dr. Healy and Dr. Hurtado to perform faster, more accurate treatments with less discomfort. For example, we use CT scans, cone beam scans, and Panorex x-rays to produce extraordinarily sharp images of your jaw. With these pictures, our surgeons can diagnose dental problems and look for signs of bone recession. Then theycan create a completely personalized treatment plan.

Our X-Guide by X-Nav is one of the hallmarks of our practice. In fact, we are one of the few offices in the state to use this type of technology. X-Guide offers live navigation throughout your implant surgery. With 360-degree views of your jaw, the system will provide our surgeons with turn-by-turn guidance for greater accuracy and precision.

One of our primary goals is to provide completely stress-free dental care. We offer a full range of sedation options, includingnitrous oxide, oral sedation, and intravenous (IV) sedation. All three methods are highly effective and we will help you choose the type of sedation that is most appropriate for you. If you opt for deep IV sedation, you will be safely monitored for the duration of your treatment, thanks to Dr. Healys and Dr. Hurtado's advanced training in general anesthesia.

To further ensure your comfort and safety, our surgeons can perform several advanced surgical techniques. For example, during wisdom tooth extraction, we will use a platelet-rich fibrin membrane to accelerate the healing process. In other cases, you may benefit from same-day dental implants, All-on-4 implants, or related treatments.

I needed an extraction and implant for my back molar. During my consultation, Dr Healy told me I needed a bone graft along with the implant. I'm sure he does fine work, but the amount quoted was ridiculous. So I drove to Rio Grande Oral Surgery in Albuquerque for a second opinion, and Dr. Drew Steel told me I did not need a bone graft. He did excellent work with the extraction and implant for less than half the cost quoted by Dr Healy. Dr Steel and his staff are very professional, and the experience was as good as it could have been. Definitely worth the drive to ABQ! Thanks Rio Grande Oral Surgery!

I cannot recommend the office of Dr Healy after my last visit for a tooth implant. I was referred to Dr. Sean Healy for the implant and was told by their office that the cost of the implant would be $2,800. I understood that this was for the implant only and would not cover the cost of the crown or the cost of my $300 extraction. After waiting 2 months for my appointment, I arrived to the office and was told I needed a CT scan. I had a 15 minute consultation with Dr Healy where he explained in detail, the procedure he would be performing. I was given a smock and a clipboard at that time with a contract for payment of $4,600.00. I was stunned, since I was told nothing more about the cost of this procedure, other than a quote of $2,800. When I pointed out the discrepancy to the assistant that was in the room, his response was, "Yeah, I don't like it when they do that," meaning the receptionist, I suppose? Am I to believe that they have never taken the time to instruct the people running the office to give a more accurate estimate? If there are THAT many other costs associated with an implant other than the $2,800 metal post that is inserted in your jaw bone, shouldn't they share that with you when they give you the quote? The cost of the rod is only about half of the the cost associated with the implant. Why do they allow you to wait for 2 months, get $300 into imaging and consulting fees, put a robe around you and then inform you that the cost is $2,000 more than the price they quoted you? I'll tell you why: Because you're invested in it, now. You've waited your time and you've spent money on x-rays. You've taken the time off from work and mentally prepared yourself for this day. I bet many people capitulate at that point. It's deceptive, at the very least. "Bait and switch" is a more accurate description. It's like agreeing to purchase a car for $10,000, you arrive at the dealership to complete the sale and they tell you the wheels, windshield and engine will cost you another $5,000. A car dealer has more integrity. Disgusted, I walked out. As I left, they told me I needed to pay for the CT scan and a "new patient" fee of $125.00. "I'm not a new patient," I informed them. "Well, yeah. It looks like it's been a little over a year since you've been here," they said. What a scam.

Dr. Hertado is a very caring individual, and a very meticulous and profession oral surgeon. I went to have implants removed that were improperly done on every level in Mexico. Stay away from Mexico! I had been dealing with a long lasting infection from the unprofessional work done in Mexico, and was so nervous about the oral surgery to be done. Dr. Hertado thoroughly explained the procedure to be done, and put me at ease. I learned to be careful with just trusting anyone to do a medical procedure, and feel very fortunate to have met Dr. Hertado and his staff. I can not believe how quickly the work that he did on Thursday is already healing. Today is Sunday. I really thought that I would be dealing with pain for the next few weeks, but this is just not the case! I feel grateful to have found Dr. Hertado, and will recommend him whenever someone I know is in need of oral surgery. Thank you so much for your fine work and for caring.

Dr. Healy has performed surgical wisdom teeth removal on both my teenagers and they both had a positive experience. I noticed that even within one years time he changed his practice so when it came to my daughter we followed her regime as given and her recovery went even better than my son's. Dr. Healy has a great patient manner and develops trust with his patients. He takes his time and explains things very well. Thank you Dr. Healy for doing such a great job with both my children. The dental assistants are wonderful!

I had to create a google account to post this review....they're THAT GOOD!!! I've suffered a lifelong phobia of dentists since our childhood dentist physically abused us for years (slapping, arm wrenching, rubber blocks in jaws...welcome to the 60's...and thanks for NOTHING mom & dad). As such, I never think of going to a dentist until all hell is breaking loose in my mouth. We moved from Chicago, where an oral surgeon wouldn't take your call without a direct reference from a dentist. I ultimately did find a top notch oral surgeon but he was arrogant and didn't discuss as much as dictate. Seven years later, we've retired to NM and I'm suffering from 1 completely rotted molar (nothing above the gumline), 1 molar about 50% decayed and 1 premolar about 30% gone. Inevitably I developed an abscess (a BIG one...from my eye down to my chin...right side of my face was numb from nerve compression and the pain was starting to become unbearable - which for someone who survived the nerve death of 2 rotting molars, that's saying something!). I'd spent hours online researching dentists & oral surgeons (assuming NM would operate like Chicago) and the day after Memorial Day I had to act. The chosen dentist's staff was very kind and explained you don't need a referral here (bliss!) and they suggested Dr Hurtado - who happened to be my research preference. I called his office and they were able to squeeze me in for a quick exam later that day (Thank you!!!). Dr Hurtado listened to me, talked to me, suggested a plan of action and I was scheduled for 3 extractions 2 days later. His manner was friendly, direct, professional and most important, HUMAN. He assured me that he hears from a lot of people with histories like mine (rather than berating me for waiting so long, like the Chicago Dr) and instead of digging my nails into the chair's arms and feeling like a 5 yo watching a horror movie, I felt like this was someone who was going to help me and I could trust him. Two days later, I'm back for the surgery. By this time I've dealt with at least 3 of the staff and everyone of them were upbeat, gentle and kind. Dr Hurtado had offered me an anti-anxiety script at the exam (I typically have to have an Atavan just to get to the Dr's office) so I wasn't crawling out of my skin. Once in the chair, the telematics were connected, O2 started and the Dr was in within 5 min. He started the IV & administered the anesthesia and I was out. Next thing I know I'm being collected by my spouse, my mouth is made of rubber, and the protein shake I'm drinking in the car is pouring back out of my mouth all over me and the seatbelt (nice visual, huh?). A dose of hydrocodone before bed and I slept better than I had in several months. Day 2, I wake with ZERO discomfort. I'm not sure how this is possible, but Dr Hurtado has extracted 3 teeth, drained an abscess and I'm feeling no pain as a result. The area 'stretched' by the abscess is a bit raw but Advil is keeping that at bay until healed. I realize it's early in the healing, but given the excellent job Dr Hurtado did I don't really anticipate any issues like dry socket. I know this review is LONG, but I can't express enough how grateful I am to Dr Hurtado & his staff and I can't begin to write a strong enough referral for anyone out there suffering...This man cares...he's extremely proficient...and, imo, his rates are a blessing (we have no dental insurance so it's all out of pocket). If you're like me and your brain can't overcome the emotional damage done to you in your past (another source of embarrassment in addition to the dental condition), you must try Dr Hurtado at your earliest opportunity. He's one hell of an asset to Santa Fe and I hope he's in practice here for many many years to come!
