Dr. James Omlie received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of St. Thomas in 2009. He went on to graduate with Honors from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2013. Dr. Omlie began his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in 2013. During this time, he received his Medical Degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2017, completed 1 year of general surgery, and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2019.
Dr. Omlie was involved in clinical and scientific research during his residency with interests in resorbable fracture/orthognathic plating systems and evidence-based management of medically complex patients. He authored two chapters in Perioperative Management of the Maxillofacial Patient and presented at the annual AAOMS meeting. Dr. Omlie enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery with particular areas of interest in orthognathic reconstructive surgery, dental implant reconstruction, dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma, pathology, and anesthesia.
James is the son of our Dr. Mark Omlie. He grew up in Eden Prairie and continued his undergraduate and dental training in Minnesota. In his free time Dr. Omlie enjoys being with his family, waterskiing, downhill skiing, studying history, and cheering for the Timberwolves, Vikings, Twins, Gophers and Wild.

I got my wisdom teeth out the other day and they could not have been more helpful. Very friendly staff, didn't feel a single thing during the procedure, and I've had next to no pain since.

I couldn't be happier with the professionalism and kindness of the entire staff. I felt their assessment of my situation was very accurate, and Dr Luke McMhaon very efficient and precise when working: I am nearly done with my new implant, just a return visit after the crown is placed, and after my initial payment for the oral surgery, have had no surprises. The cost was well within reason for a procedure of this magnitude, and less than I was quoted elsewhere. I would overwhelmingly recommend the Savage location for any work you need done.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SCHEDULING A CONSULTATION! The receptionist staff was great, professional, and the office was very clean. Please be aware that if you are seeking multiple consultations, this office is going to charge you $375, and tell you this will not be covered by your insurance. Their services were the highest out of all surgeons I went to and they recommended unneeded procedures. I was told by other doctors I went to that their additional surgeries were not needed and they were trying to get as much money out of me as possible. After getting work done at another office and everything turning out perfect, I now know the corruption in this industry and how some medical providers are just out to get your money and not out to help you. To break out what this office was trying to do: Recommended 3 surgeries over 1 year- Only needed one at the other office I went to. Asked me my profession before supplying me with a proposal Proposed surgery at 15k- Other office did their work for 3k- turned great, could not tell I ever had work done.

I was turned away from another oral surgeon but was welcomed with open arms here. Everyone made me feel comfortable and confident in their practice. I was nervous but everyone their comforted me. They got me in fast because of my pain and did surgery the same day as my consultation. I recommend everyone go here. From the staff to the surgeon, everyone is simply amazing.

Dr. McMahon, Missy and Karen were all just incredible today during my dental work and helped me through some pretty severe anxiety. They genuinely care about their patients and very much did all they could to ensure I was comfortable. I'm beyond grateful to each one of them. I'd highly recommend them to anyone needing their services.

The doctors and nurses at this location were very nice and explained everything they were doing, were cheery and super nice the whole time, and made the experience of getting my wisdome teeth pulled a lot less horrible than I imagined. They were always concerned with my comfort and very eager to answer any questions I had.
