Dr. Thomas Durisek made Phoenix his home in 1997 immediately after graduating from dental school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was attracted to the warm, sunny weather and big open skies of Arizona that allow ample opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities such as running, hiking, camping, and exploring 4X4 trails. Dr. Thomas Durisek also has a passion for automobiles and enjoys travel and reading.
Dr. Thomas Durisek founded Open Wide Dental in 2001 and is proud of the current high-tech facility that opened in 2007. He likes the challenges of dentistry and providing his patients with the highest level of general and cosmetic dental care using the most modern equipment and techniques. He maintains his membership in the ADA, AzDA, and Academy of General Dentistry by attending continuing education classes and participates in a Spear Education Dental Study Club based at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry. Dr. Thomas Durisek at Open Wide Dental is such an excellent dental care provider. I have been a patient under his care for 10 years and have no complaints, his work is impeccable. My first visit and I'm thinking why haven't I been coming here? From the moment of scheduling appointment to checking out after my visit - everyone was happy, nice and attentive to what I wanted in a dental experience. No hard sell on services or products that you don't want. Focused on the health of your teeth and gums versus the bottom line on your bill. Emily and Dr. Durisek were excellent. Looking forward to making this my new dental practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. Durisek at Open Wide Dental for the past several years and wouldn't hesitate to recommend their Professional Dental Services. Moreover, the service provided by their staff is always friendly and professional. As soon as you walk in the staff at Open Wide make you feel relaxed, they are very professional and answer your questions. On my last appointment I saw Jason and I find him to an excellent hygienist. He takes the time to explain all the procedures to be performed thoroughly during the appointment. I find Jason has a naturally lovely personality and I would recommend him to anyone. I have faith in Open Wide Dental and that is why I am a long-term patient and will continue to be.

Always kind and friendly. Service is great and I never have an issue getting an appointment! The staff are all wonderful! I always enjoy chatting with the staff and they go above and beyond to accommodate my needs. After ten years as a patient at open wide dental, I'd absolutely never go anywhere else!

I really enjoyed the staff and Doctors at this office. They were fun, professional, and very busy. Aside from 2 visits where I had a longer than normal wait time due to other patient care time, I had a very positive experience! That is until I got my Cigna EOB, indicating that Open Wide Dental was Out of Network. This was never explained to me during the pre-review phase of how much the insurance would cover. Prior to the procedure, I was given an a Total Amount that Insurance would cover and how much I would owe. I paid my portion, and lo and behold, once the insurance company paid I suddenly owed an additional $1200+ for my procedure. Trust me, I don't have this kind of money just lying around, even for necessary procedures, and had I been told that they were out of network, I would have gone to an in-network provider so that my limited dental dollars would go farther. DO NOT TRUST THAT JUST BECAUSE A DENTAL OFFICE SAYS THEY ACCEPT ALL DENTAL PPO'S THAT THIS MEANS THEY ARE ACTUALLY IN NETWORK WITH YOUR DENTAL CARRIER! Before you say yes to your likely expensive dental procedure, check with your provider to confirm. That was a very costly $1200+ lesson that I have learned. Other than that, these guys are darn good at what they do. Just not great at the billing explanation. Cheers, Kevin

I have a lot of anxiety visiting any dentist. The staff at Open Wide is extraordinary sensitive and nurturing. They do excellent work and my dentist has a wonderful character. They had my back to optimize my insurance to my benefit. So in my opinion if you have to go to a dentist they are the ones to go to.

In preparation for a permanent bridge that will fix a missing tooth, I was amazed two temporary caps were made that perfectly allowed my flipper for my missing tooth to be utilized until I get the permanent bridge. In summary, it was precision with the upmost technical ability mixed in with comfort and fun. Yes fun. The employees are full of pleasure! So fortunate to be a patient at Open Wide Dental!

I am not a person that enjoys going to the dentist actually at terrifies me but going to open wide and hanging out with Dr D is the best thing in the world they are fun they are professional and they always make sure to keep me at ease and make me feel comfortable all the time even when they're Drilling in my mouth we'll never go anywhere else

I thought I was having an issue with my teeth but Dr. took the time to ask me the right questions and verify that it wasn't my teeth but my jaw and gave me some placed were I can go to get it checked out he did not just say not my problem and was to keep informed of my progress with this issue, you will not go wrong with this office
