Dr. Russell received his B.S. Degree in Neuroscience from Washington and Lee University. After graduate study in Physiology at the Medical College of Virginia, he earned his DDS from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. Following dental school, Dr. Russell completed a General Practice Residency program at the Baltimore VA hospital which has been ranked as one of the nations top post-graduate programs.
Dr. Russell had the distinction of serving as Chief Resident during residency and was awarded his ADA Certificate. During residency, Dr. Russell underwent advanced study in all aspects of dentistry including Cosmetic Procedures and the Surgical Placement and Restoration of Dental Implants.
The Russell Family roots in Annapolis run deep. The family has lived and worked here since the 1700s. While part of this time found family members working as Watermen, recent history has established the Family in the maintenance of Annapolitans health.The Russells beginnings in health care can be traced to Dr. John T. Russell who after finishing medical school in 1909 came back to his home in Eastport to treat patients and make house calls as one of only four physicians in the area and later served on the first staff of Anne Arundel Medical Center. His two sons, Carl P. Russell and my grandfather, Oneal F. Russell Sr. both attended the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and graduated in 1927 and 1934, respectively.
Both of their sons, John Russell and my father, Oneal F. Russell, Jr. followed in the footsteps of their fathers and also attended Dental School graduating in 1968 and 1975, respectively.With a desire to continue the family tradition I graduated from University of Maryland Dental School in 2006 and then completed a residency at the Baltimore V.A. Hospital where I served as Chief Resident before returning to Annapolis. It gives me a great sense of pride to continue to serve Annapolitans and I look forward to welcoming you into our Family practice.

After 41 years of Dental practice, I have retired.My son took over my practice seven years ago and I have had a diminished role since then. Now is the time to remove myself totally from the practice as age and physical ailments take their toll. I know it is time for me to let my son have his practice without me.
I greet this new phase of life with mixed feelings but not without appreciation for all those who allowed me to be their Dentist. Many of my patients have become close friends. Many children in the office who I watched become adults have children of their own who have also become patients. The Russell Family has had a proud record of healthcare to Annapolis residents since the early 1900's. Some of my patient base was delivered by my physician Grandfather, saw either my Father, Uncle, or Cousin as their Dentist before me, and now see my son. Four generations of medical or dental providers.

Dr Russell is fantastic and I fully trust him. After I moved to Westminster, I considered switching to someone closer to me but I realized that I'm happy to drive an hour each way to see him and his staff!

Very positive experience. New patient, hoping to find the right dentist fit since my previous dentist recently retired. Chose Dr. Russell based on reviews and he accepts my particular dental savings plan. Routine cleaning and exam, and I have some minor perio issues that need to be closely monitored. Tierney and Dr. Russell were great. Both examined me closely, asked questions, and clearly communicated findings and advice. Friendly, efficient and professional sums it up. I plan to return for my next check up and any other dental work

If you ever go here ,please make sure you know your own benefits for EVERY visit. The fact they do any service/work on you and don't tell you your patient's responsibility, is so unacceptable and unprofessional. Also don't ask to talk to Dr Russell via email,because either he won't get the message or he just don't care to call you. Oh well, it was good while it lasted and 2 stars for my "ex"hygienist ,she is pretty cool,will be miss

My husband and I struggled to find a new dentist in the area after moving here a few years ago, and had some less than stellar experiences at other local offices. Then we found Dr. Russell's office, and we could not be any happier. Not only is he a fantastic dentist, he is a genuinely caring and thoughtful practitioner who always remembers personal details about you, whether coming in for routine maintenance or for more advanced dental work. The office is always willing to get you seen when necessary, even getting me seen right away when one of my dental implant crowns was found to be loose during a routine cleaning. Tierney their hygienist is so thorough and friendly, and Michelle at the front desk always makes us feel welcome. I can not say enough wonderful things about this practice and I highly recommend them for anyone searching for their family dentist

Zzzzzeeee BEST DENTIST!!! His dad was awesome and now his son is too. You can't say enough good things about this doctor. Unfortunately, we had to change dentist because it was so far and I really can't stand to drive through that Baltimore tunnel. I don't miss that tunnel one bit!

I've been going to Dr. Russell since 2014 and won't go anywhere else. He and his staff are professional and friendly. The work flow is extremely efficient. My appointment confirmations are digital, which I love. His office feels like a spa and I've never, in 6 years, waited. I got a filling two weeks ago and was in and out in less than 30 min. The procedures are always painless. I feel very safe with the changes they've made due to COVID. Thank you to everyone there!

Dr. Russell is amazing and every employee in the office has excellent customer service! I've been a patient for years and have never had a problem. They are efficient, polite, and answer questions before they even arise! I couldn't be happier. I moved out of Crofton and still travel back because I couldn't imagine going any where else!

I needed to find a new dentist since moving to the area and this place is awesome. So welcoming and friendly in a genuine way. As crazy as it sounds they made the dentist fun lol. They're also extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoroughly. 10/10 would recommend!

Every experience at Dr. Russells is an amazing one. Michelle is always so friendly on the phone and in-person. The office is very clean and the waiting room is inviting; although I haven't spent much time there because they take you back so quickly. Besides Dr. Russell's skills being top-notch, he has impeccable bedside manner and is easy to talk to. Susie did my cleaning today and was kind and gentle. I highly recommend this Practice to every person I know because it is the absolute best experience you can have at a dental office. I wish I could give them 10 stars!

I came to Dr. Russell after moving to Maryland from St. Louis. I have always dreaded going to the dentist, even for a cleaning... but not with Dr. Russell! I had to get a filling and was very anxious, but he made it quick and painless...I was actually in and out in less than 30 minutes! Not to mention the Novocaine shot was the easiest one I have ever gotten. He really cares about his patients and it shows after just 2 visits. Thank you Dr. Russell!
