Dr. Olson was born and raised in Omaha, NE and graduated from Millard North High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Kansas. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry where she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Academic Honor Society. Following dental school she completed her specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry, while also earning a Master of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Olsons Masters Thesis project went on to be published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Olson is board certified with the American Board of Orthodontics and is an active member of several professions organizations including the American Association of Orthodontist, Midwest Society of Orthodontists, Nebraska Orthodontic Society, Omaha Orthodontic Study Club, American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, Omaha District Dental Society, College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Julie (Gist) Olson is married to David Olson who is a native of Lincoln, NE. Together they have three children, Claire, Luke and Johnny. After completing residencies in Kansas City, they returned to Omaha where Dr. Olson joined the practice of her childhood orthodontist, Dr. Vic Monson. Away from the office, Dr. Olson loves spending time with her family and friends. She also loves to run and participate in local race events. She is an active member of the Junior League of Omaha and the Omaha Theta Alumnae Group, two organizations dedicated to community service and building relationships within the community.
Building relationships with our patients is the foundation of our practice. With our relaxed office atmosphere and friendly, courteous team it is no wonder why our patients always leave our office smiling!
Welcome to our practice! I have been a clinical assistant with this practice since 1988. I enjoy helping each patient personally with their orthodontic care. It is a joy to see what a positive impact orthodontics has on a person. Your smile is important to us!
Out of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Dave, our two daughters and their families. I love camping, reading, crochet, knitting, volunteering through my church, and, of course, Husker Football!!!

Never felt so welcomed, I'm 50 years and first time ever wearing braces, I was ashamed, embarrassed of my teeth, but my self esteem is getting better I feel welcomed here

My daughter had braces when she moved here, so I was beyond frustrated and angry when during a braces emergency ( she fell out of bed and her mouth landed on the corner of an open drawer) every orthodontist I called basically said that they wouldn't see her to even address the emergency even tho she has Medicaid. I guess medicaid pays the entirety of cost for braces at the beginning, so these places just flat out refused to see her because they wouldn't get paid. I'd called multiple places by the time I got to Olsen Orthodontics. Dr. Olsen offered to squeeze her in pretty much immediately to fix the issue and ensure she'd be ok until until I was actually able to get everything sorted out and get her in somewhere. Well, now is finally that time. I just spent over an hour trying to track down the orthodontist office name, which involved scouring over Google maps for landmarks I remembered in the 90th and maple area and narrowing the search area bit by bit when I'd remember something....and the first thing I do is write this review months after the fact....yeah. Go there. Her team is pretty amazing too. Time to call for an appointment.

I gave a 2 star review (jumping the gun) really sorry and I'd like to say Dr. Olson rectified my situation and I'm very pleased because I've been a patient here for over 10 years and will continue to be one of their patients. Highly recommend and her Staff is also Outstanding!!

Enjoyable experience. Was told all of my options. Met the orthodontist right away. And they genuinely took an interest in my life and wanted to know why i wanted to get braces. Can't wait to start treatment

Highly recommend Dr Olson and her team for pediatric and adult orthodontics. I was very impressed with the time she took for my initial consultation and felt she provided very individualized care. Dr Olson and her team are very prompt, caring and professional as well fun to work with. My results were outstanding.
