After more than 40 years of practicing dentistry, the most rewarding thing for me is getting to know my patients. A person sharing stories, telling me about their life experiences, family, and dreams, is an experienceI remember and treasure for years.

The most important part of dentistry is the relationship I havewith each patient. I want people to be comfortable and confident in their treatment plan and to understand theres no such thing as too many questions. Its essential a person is informed, encouraged, and supported throughout care. Achieving optimal oral health and greatsmiles requires a team, and the patient is the most important part of the team.

I take pride in the quality of my dentistry, whether its a childs first check up or a complex multidisciplinary case with an adult. But, at the end of myday, it is the individual Iremember themost, not their dental situation.

My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. I then enrolled at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago, where I graduated with Honors and earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).

While I received a great education at the University of Illinois, it is essential to build on that knowledge and stay up-to-date. Many changes in dentistry have occurred since my graduation in 1980. Completing continuing education courses provides me knowledge and insight I can use to better treat my patients.

I was born and raised in northern Illinois and maintain strong ties to the Midwest farming community. I was the first Oleson to not be born on a farm since the Viking days! My great-great-grandfather emigrated from Norway in 1872! Im still connected to my Minnesota farm cousins and Norwegian cousins.

Ive lived in Hoodsport, WA, since 1980. My wife and I live in a house in the middle of a forest at the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. My two sons are both Huskies: the oldest is a CPA and the youngest is a PHD chemical engineer. We have always had pets, usually a long-haired cat or two and an Adopt-a-Pet dog. Our current dog, Mocha, is a black lab who loves being queen of the forest.

One of my favorite pastimes is maintaining our property as a habitat for wildlife. With the exception of our house and garden areas, we have tried to keep our property in its native condition and to encourage wildlife to use it as their home. It is sometimes challenging though to keep the deer and rabbits out of the strawberries and tomatoes. The bear, Horace The Horrible, needs to leave the birdfeeders alone!

It will be our joy to do the same with you. Ive been part of the practice since Dr. Oleson, my husband and Istarted it in 1982. I have an MSN in nursing and have workedmanyyears in the dental field.

When not working, Im an avid reader. Ive a strong preferencefor murder and mayhem, with just a touch of horror thrown in.Im also a perennial gardener, always trying to keep the hummers, butterflies, and mason bees happy. We have had ragdoll cats as part of our family for many years. This charmer isArwen, affectionately known as Wennie-Kitty (a lover of computers!)
