Dr. Ted Melchers graduated in 1984 from MUSC School of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Other special interests are sleep apnea, treatment of snoring, conservative aesthetic treatment, and laser dentistry. Dr. Melchers approach to dental treatment is conservative with minimal invasion. It is the norm here, not the exception, for clients to experience truly pain-free dental care. In order to keep a stress- and pain-free environment, Dr. Melchers utilizes excellent techniques with the use of lasers, nitrous oxide, anxiety-reducing oral medication, and the use of new anesthetics.
Dr. Melchers has been married for 39 years and has 4 married children and seven grandchildren. He also has one dog and 4 grand-dogs. Some of his other interests include fishing, hunting, beekeeping, and playing trumpet. Dr. Ted has played with various musical ensembles in town including Charleston Community Band, Charleston Wind Symphony, South Coast Symphony, East Cooper Baptist Church Orchestra, and other music groups. Dr. Melchers is a fifth-generation Charlestonian and an active member and Elder of East Cooper Baptist Church. Dr. Melchers and his family have served in the Charleston and Mt. Pleasant community for generations.

I have been a patient of Dr. Melchers for many years but my recent experience has made me even more devoted to this practice. He has always been caring and gentle and he truly delivers on a pain free experience. Truly. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

The nicest most kind dentist I've ever talked to! He came on the phone during my appointment sign up call to ask about the kind of pain I was in. The women answering the phone was also incredibly nice! So refreshing to have someone sound like they want to help! I have yet to go for my appointment but they have already gone above and beyond! Can't beat a family business too! True southern hospitality!

Old Mount Pleasant Dentistry is the best. I was in need of an emergency evaluation and they got me in right away and with the right direction helped me get to where I needed to go to take care of my tooth. They followed up with me and saw me the next week when I needed to come in quickly for a fix up. The staff is so pleasant and comfortable to be around!! Can't recommend this place enough!

Amazing experience. No needles no pain. Had 2 cavities done in 15 with hydro laser. Dr was so kind and staff amazing. I left the dentist smiling I have never done that. Would recommend to everyone.

This is one of the best dental offices I've ever been to. The dentists there are remarkable! I think what I love best is the laser, I mean how cool is it that I can get my fill ins done without being numb! Awesome

Great experience! I can be nervous when it comes to the dentist, but the staff made me feel super comfortable and did an amazing job. Very friendly and it is obvious that they really care about each and every patient. Highly recommend!

Let's just say it ... my teeth are a hot mess. Missing 8 top teeth, and what's left are riddled with decay. That's what lots of medications, dry mouth and bruxism can do. DESTROY your teeth. I didn't know what to expect with laser fillings. But let me tell you ... from someone who has MASSIVE anxiety fear of the dentist chair ... this was nothing short of an amazing experience! No pain, no shots! Dr. Melcher and his staff are professional, kind and empathetic! I just can't say enough kind things about them and their cutting edge dentistry! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Dr. Melcher is WONDERFUL! I was on vacation when my tooth started to hurt me, I was stressed to try and find a dentist in an area where I am not from. I asked around, and someone referred me to him. I walked in right when they opened and the whole staff was so welcoming and so sweet. They assured me they could help me out! It was quick and painless. I wish I lived here so he could be my dentist! Always a pleasant experience - no need to dread the dentist. Oh, and laser fillings with no shots is the best thing ever! You can go straight to work after - no pain, no drool!
