The Old Dominion Dental Society consists of four local dental components. The local components were named after African American dental role models who made great contributions to the dental profession as well as their communities. The local components divided the state of Virginia into four regions. Each component works independently and together with each other for the cohesiveness of ODDS. The Peter B. Ramsey Dental Society encompassing the greater Richmond area and a significant portion of Petersburg and Hopewell. This component is the largest component. The Norman Lassiter Dental Society encompassing the Tidewater area to include Newport News and Hampton, Virginia. This society was named after the first president of the ODDS, Dr. Norman Lassiter. The John McGriff Dental Society encompasses the cities of Norfolk, Suffolk, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach. This dental component had the honor of being the host for the headquarters of the ODDS in the newly integrated Golden Triangle Motor Hotel in Norfolk in 1962. The hotel later became noted as one of the hotels that held events for top Negro organizations. The Northern Virginia Dental component of Old Dominion Dental Society is the Newman C. Taylor Dental Society, encompassing Alexandria, Arlington , Manassas, and the Dulles Corridor.
