Dr. Higgins transplanted to Springfield, MO when he was twelve years old from Duluth, MN. After graduating from high school there, he went on to receive his Associates Degree of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology. Jeff spent his late teens and early twenties working in the IT field for several companies in the Springfield area, creating and maintaining networks for dental labs and offices, law firms, manufacturers and other corporations to support himself during college. In 2004, Jeff graduated with his undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and began dental school at UMKC.
Dr. Higgins was the President of his dental class all four years of his doctoral studies. After completing his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2008, he bought a dental practice from a doctor in Lathrop, MO and began practicing family dentistry in the rural community. Although Jeff loved the country and appreciated spending time with his patients there, he decided that he wanted to be a bit further south, and when the opportunity to buy the Olathe Dental Care Center (ODCC) from Dr. Leins came up, he jumped at it. Joining the family dentistry practice in October of 2011, Dr. Higgins counts himself very fortunate to work with his phenomenal staff and patients!
Jeff and MaKenzi, an attorney who works right next door to ODCC, live in Olathe, where they plan to always call home. Dr. Higgins enjoys time traveling with his wife, especially to Jamaica where they were wed, and raising their growing family of two cats (Svenand Wee Peepers) and two very happy dogs (Magnus and Kia).
Dr. Sun was born in China and moved to Kansas when she was 10 years old. She grew up in Topeka, Kansas, and attended Washburn University where she received her Bachelors of Science in biochemistry and biology. Dr. Sun then went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at UMKC School of Dentistry.
Dr. Sun practiced dentistry in Springfield, Missouri, after graduating from dental school and recently moved back to the Kansas City area to be closer to family. Dr. Sun is excited to serve patients alongside the team at Olathe Dental Care Center.
Kristi has worked at Olathe Dental Care family dentistry office for 7 years. As a dental hygienist, hygiene coordinator and business administrator, she is a highly motivated individual and has placed herself in many avenues of business. Kristi graduated from Wichita State University in 1992 and has been practicing dental hygiene since then.
Kristi is the mother of two amazing daughters that fill her life with awesome adventure every day! Her eldest daughter graduated from KU and now back in Olathe in the working world. Her younger daughter is attending Emporia State University studying to be a registered dietitian. She also enjoys working out and has her personal training certification that she puts to use on occasion. Kristi is very active in her church, Grace United Methodist, and enjoys participating in community service and mission projects throughout the community.
Vila has been at Olathe Dental Care for fourteen years. She was born in Laos and immigrated to Canada in 1980, moving to the United States in 1987. Vila graduated from UMKC with a bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene, and has worked in the some of the best family dentistry offices in Johnson County.
Hailing from right here in Kansas City, Terry was raised in Johnson County. Although she moved to New Mexico and Colorado for a time, she has lived here most of her life. Terry has worked at Olathe Dental Care Center for over ten years, working as an assisting for six years and really loves it.
Terry enjoys her family and her pets; she is active in her church and participates every year in their Christmas Cantata. Terry has a wonderful daughter and son-in-law who have brought her so much joy by making her the excited grandma of three beautiful kids!
Sue is a mom of a divided house (KU and UMKC), a son, daughter, and 3 active grandsons! Her hobbies include movies, baking, and especially time with family. Sue enjoys the connection with her patients and says that is the best part of my job!
Diane Ellsworth is on her forty-second year here at Olathe Dental Care. Diane says she works with the best doctors and co-workers in the family dentistry business, and absolutely loves working with the patients on a daily basis. No day is ever the same.
Diane has been married for forty years, and together they have two daughters, one son, and five wonderful grandchildren. She spends her days off babysitting her grandkids, hanging out with her family, gardening, cooking, walking, and watching all of our local teams especially K-State.
Cassie has been at Olathe Dental Care for 1 year. She has worked in the dental field for 5 years now and loves it. Cassie enjoys spending time with family and friends every chance she gets. Next time you stop in listen for the strong southern accent and you will find Cassie!!

They cleaned my teeth amazingly!! Best lobby ever! The lobby has a free-to-use massage chair. The chair is SO soothing! There is also a great arcade1up Pac-Man machine with a riser! So it's not too short to use.

Visiting as a new patient for a cleaning and filling appointments was an overall unpleasant experience. Although the admin staff was very kind and professional and the waiting room was nice, the experience with the doctor was uniquely uneasy. During my procedure, the dental assistant was verbally chastised in front of me and other patients. In addition to this, there were moments when the doctors hands were tremoring while using needles in my mouth. This lack of respect for staff and the hand shakes left me very uncomfortable and unlikely to return to this office in the future.

I recently experienced my first cracked tooth and resulting crown. Dr. Sun (a new staff member) provided outstanding treatment and was very informative and thorough. Dental assistant Ashley was exceptional and very caring throughout the various stages of the procedures. Thank you both very much!

Waited weeks to see the denist, I have good insurance, I was going to get 2 teeth pulled. Then the denist said that he did not feel right pulling them, and referred me to a Surgen, but had other teeth to fix, I understand the time frame and how busy he is but at least he could of tried to work with me, but it appears they did not want to do any work on me, yes my teeth are not perfect but I am a person to. And could of rebooked me for other work. I Don t understand why I was treated so bad.

I have been seeing Dr Higgins more than 6 years now. My appointments have always gone smoothly. Staff are friendly and efficient. Dr. Higgins is kind, caring and competent. Highly recommended him.

I've been coming to your dental center for a long time, since about 2005 when I moved to Olathe after retiring from the Air Force. I've always been treated with respect and genuine caring from all of the staff. Even though I've moved into the KCMO metro area now, I plan to continue to drive down to Olathe for my dental care, because I trust I can receive excellent service and care from my Hygienist Vila and the Docs. As a person who has had all sorts of different experiences with dentists, I would definitely rate Olathe Dental Care as my favorite. They are always very friendly and informative. They seem to have a genuine interest in your well-being and are incredible easy to work with and to schedule with.

I had a cleaning and exam. My hygienist was gentle and fast. My teeth looked great. The dentist arrived right away for my exam. I need some work in the future and they provided me with a quote and the approximate time it would take to complete the work. Very pleased with the service I received.
