Dr. Amy Okun was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona to a very close-knit family. She practically grew up in her fathers practice where she quickly developed a love and desire for dentistry. Throughout her childhood, she constantly witnessed her fathers love for the practice of dentistry which resulted in happy, smiling patients. She admired the extent to which his patients, not only cared for him, but appreciated his hard work, honesty and dedication.
Dr. Amy is excited to be the third generation and fourth Okun to graduate New York University College of Dentistry. After graduating, she was Chief Resident for the Residency Program at the NYUCD/Bellevue Hospital. She learned a great deal during that most rewarding experience. She then travelled to the Dominican Republic to offer free dentistry to the families in need. This proved to be a highly rewarding experience in being able to help people that greatly needed dental care.
She is now overjoyed at the opportunity to practice dentistry as a partner with her mentor, friend and father, Dr. Bruce Okun. Her love for dentistry is obvious once you step into their practice and witness the staff which is treated as family and their patients who are treated with unconditional attention, care, trust and, most importantly, quality workmanship.
Dr. Bruce Okun was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Living in the apartment building above his fathers dental practice, he knew at a young age that he also wanted to be a dentist. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, he followed in both his fathers and brothers footsteps to achieve his Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Mesa, Arizona. In 1974, he and Dr. Leroy Kochert became partners and practiced dentistry for more than 20 years together.
Eight years ago, after following in his footsteps, his daughter and friend, Dr. Amy Okun, has joined him as they practice dentistry together. He is proud and honored to now have her as his business partner. After 34 years in the same office location, he has moved into a new, modern facility offering state of the art equipment.
Dr. Bruce practices general dentistry with a conservative approach encompassing most areas of dentistry. Dr. Bruce is a member of the ADA, Central Arizona Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry. He has offered free dentistry to the needy and now currently volunteers at a nursing home. Dr. Bruce is proud to say that he is now seeing fourth generation patients. He, along with Dr. Amy, look forward to continuing the close-knit family feeling amongst their office staff and patients.
Dr. Jeff Styskal was raised in Lakewood, Washington. Like his colleagues, he grew up watching his father practice dentistry and gained great interest in the profession. Dr. Styskal earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Arizona State University in 2005, and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 2009. During his education at USC, Dr. Styskal made the Dean's list all four years, and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Upon completion of his studies, Dr. Styskal served as a dentist in the US Air Force, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. During Dr. Styskal's time in the Air Force, he served on a humanitarian mission in Panama where he was able to provide dental care to underserved Panamanians. In 2012, Dr. Styskal separated from the Air Force, and he and his wife returned to Phoenix where Dr. Styskal began to practice dentistry in private practice. Dr. Styskal continues to broaden his expertise in the field of dentistry through continuing education, allowing him to offer his patients a growing array of care, from the fields of cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, and Invisalign. During his free time, Dr. Styskal enjoys playing tennis, watching football, and spending time with his wife Emily, his daughter Avery and his dog Sebastian .
Dr. Irina Martinez was raised in San Francisco, California where she moved to from Odessa, Ukraine. Growing up, she watched her father practice dentistry and developed a great appreciation for the field. Dr. Irina earned her Bachelor of Science degree in physiology at the San Francisco State University. She then attended the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree and a certificate in public health. During her time in dental school, she was on a committee to help organize the annual Arizona Oral Cancer Walk and helped community leaders to raise oral cancer awareness. After graduating, she completed a one year advanced education in general dentistry program through the NYU Langone Dental Medicine Postdoctoral Dental Residency Program where she advanced her training in implant placement/ restoration, CEREC, oral surgery, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Irina is passionate about giving back to her community by volunteering at events such as Give Kids a Smile and the Arizona Mission of Mercy. When she is not practicing dentistry, she loves to spend time with her husband, son Henry, and yellow lab Zeus.
