Ive been practicing orthodontics since 1988, having chosen the specialty because I enjoy problem-solving, working in fine detail, and the positive attitudes in my patients. Each person comes to me with a goal of a healthy, functional, and beautiful smile. Dr. John Ogro grew up in Orinda and attended Miramonte High School. After graduating from the University of California, Davis, he attended theUniversity of California, San Francisco, where he was awarded his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and went on to complete his orthodontic residency. He was elected to the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and received the award for Clinical Excellence in Orthodontics upon graduation. Dr. Ogro has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthodontics for the School of Dentistry at the University of California, San Francisco and has served as Peer Review Chairman for the California Association of Orthodontists.
With a strong foundational knowledge, but understanding that orthodontics is a constantly evolving field, Dr. Ogro seeks out continuing education courses throughout the year.He understands its essential to stay at the leadingedge of new technology and treatment processes, and to reinforce his existing knowledge. This ensures Dr. Ogro is able to deliver excellent and efficient care to his patients. Each year he takes orthodontic courses at the local, regional, and national levels, and participates in multiple study groups.
Having grownup in Orinda, Dr. Ogro lives in Lafayette, CA. He methis wifeMollyin high school, and they have been married for more than 30 years. The couple has two grown daughters, a son in college and three cute grandsons.
When not caring for his patients, Dr. Ogro can be found hiking and traveling, and enjoying both road and mountain biking. Hes also an avid reader. Along with his family, Dr. Ogro enjoys spending time on the water, especially waterskiing and wakeboarding.

I have worked as an Orthodontic RDA for over nine years.Iloveworking with people and helping them achieve a great smile I enjoygetting to know ourpatients and their interests too! I provide chairside assistance to Dr. Ogroand will be helping out with all aspects of patient care.
Its so much fun to work with our patients, especially the kids, and help them achieve a beautiful and healthy smile. No matter what the persons age, watching them as they see their new smile developis always amazing. Its a pleasure to be part of that process. I fabricate retainers and sterilize the instrumentsas well.
I enjoythe relationships that develop between our team and our patients and parents. Itsenjoyable to learn about who they are, and see them grow and change while in our care. Of course, witnessing their excitement and beaming smiles when the braces come off is the best part of it all! I work closely with patients and parents to coordinate their treatment, settle the financial arrangements, review insurance coverage, and schedule treatments, too.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
