Q: Which type of toothbrush should I use? A: The brand of the toothbrush is not as critical as the type of bristle and the size of the head. A soft toothbrush with a small head is recommended because medium and hard brushes tend to cause irritation and contribute to recession of the gums, and a small head allows you to get around each tooth more completely and is less likely to injure your gums. Its unnecessary to scrub the teeth as long as you are brushing at least twice a day and visiting your dentist at least twice a year for cleanings.

Q: Is one toothpaste better than others? A: Generally, no. However, its advisable to use a fluoride containing toothpaste to decrease the incidence of dental decay. We recommend our patients use what tastes good to them as long as it contains fluoride.

Q: How often should I floss? A: Flossing of the teeth once per day helps to prevent cavities from forming between the teeth where your toothbrush cant reach. Flossing also helps to keep your gums healthy.

Q: Whats the difference between a crown and a cap? A: These are restorations to repair a severely broken tooth by covering all or most of the tooth after removing old fillings, fractured tooth structure, and all decay. The restoration material is made of gold, porcelain, composites, or even stainless steel. Dentists refer to all of these restorations as crowns. However, patients often refer to the tooth-colored ones as caps and the gold or stainless-steel ones as crowns.

Q: Whats the difference between a bridge and a partial denture? A: Both bridges and partial dentures replace missing teeth. A bridge is permanently attached to abutment teeth or, in some cases, implants. A partial denture is attached by clasps to the teeth and is easily removed by the patient. Patients are usually more satisfied with bridges than with partial dentures.

Q: What about silver fillings versus white fillings? A: Although the U.S. Public Health Service issued a report in 1993 stating there is no health reason not to use amalgam (silver fillings), more patients today are requesting white or tooth-colored composite fillings. We also prefer tooth-colored fillings because they bond to the tooth structure and therefore help strengthen a tooth weakened by decay. While fillings are also usually less sensitive to temperature, and they also look better. However, white fillings cannot be used in every situation, and if a tooth is very badly broken-down, a crown will usually be necessary and provide better overall satisfaction for the patient.

Q: Do I need to have a root canal just because I have to have a crown? A: No. While most teeth which have had root canal treatments do need crowns to strengthen the teeth and to return the teeth to normal form and function, not every tooth needing a crown also needs to have a root canal.

$1300 for a crown that's expensive . And that's with my insurance covering some of it . I requested my X-rays to be emailed to me and never got that. I had to call four days in a row to finally get them. Going somewhere else for sure because the filling I got here with Dr Farahani was not great either. It was for a front tooth and I can still see a piece of tooth that wasn't fully covered with the white filling, just scraped up, so like a little hole just there in my front tooth . Great look thanks!

The woman dentist is terrible. She must hate her job because she has nothing but attitude. I feel sorry for the office staff to have to deal with a crazy person like her. I am 100percent sure that if you challenge her she will get her feelings hurt and storm away like a child. Beware of this place im supprized there hasnt been a lawsuite ...... YET.

Terrible experience with Oceanside Dental. I made an appointment over a week ago and 30 minutes before my appointment they told me I had to reassign my dentist. After calling and texting to get the information I let them know I would be 15 minutes late due to their lack of due diligence and planning upfront. They then told me I had to reschedule. I will not be using this dentist and would not recommend them to anyone. 0/10 in customer service and help.

I scheduled an appt for my husband and I, to come in and be told-we werent able to verify your insurances. Therefore unsure if you will be seen. I immediately called and connected with my insurance rep to provide eligibility & benefits. The front desk receptionist seemed upset, I was doing her job. Finally insurances were verified, and was told one of us needed to reschedule. My husband proceed with checkin process, to be told he has 50 copay, to then learn his 2nd insurance was not verified. At 11am I was told I needed to reschedule my 1130am appt because secondary insurance was not verified. In my opinion, she had plenty of time to verify insurance.

I've been going to this office since they first opened and always have had a good experience. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make sure all your questions are answered prior to any type of treatment. I'm especially happy about the gentle placement of the bite wings used to x-ray my teeth.I have very sensitive gums and have experienced great discomfort in the past. I expected the same trauma to occur but it didn't happen here. I appreciate the skill of y x-ray tech. I had new crowns placed prior to my daughter's wedding and could show a big smile at picture time. .

This is an amazing office and team. From the admin helping navigate denti-cal to the staff, dentist, and oral surgeon all putting our girl at ease. She's on the spectrum and has had some traumatic dental experiences in the past. She went from trembling to calm and at ease in minutes. They have been amazing with cleanings, fillings and 4 wisdom teeth extractions. The surgeon was so attentive, checking up on our girl frequently post-op. She had a slight complication from not cleaning the pockets well enough, and the surgeon made room in his schedule for an emergency visit. And I didn't have to beg him! I cannot recommend this team of professionals enough. 5 stars!

BEWARE! I am 74, have Medicare covered Delta Dental. I made appointment for cleaning. I was told I need an exam. Dr. Ha Vo examined my teeth and said I needed deep cleaning (regular cleaning would have been covered, free to me), I have gum disease, so I need 2 appointments for cleaning at a cost of $480 to me. My front tooth has a tiny chip on the bottom, approx. 1 millimeter. She wanted to destroy that tooth by putting a crown on it. That's apparently not covered so it would have been $756 to me. I went to see a dentist privately in San Mateo without insurance and had gotten an exam with flying colors and a praise how good condition my gums are. I paid for a regular cleaning $135 and will have the chipped tooth filled. Dr. Vo missed a cavity I will need, and all this in the SF Bay Area. Why is she doing that to the most vulnerable, old people on Medicare.

Wow! Really did not want to provide a negative review, but the office staff's attitude and the constant " this is not covered" is too much to ignore. First, I want to start with the fact that I switched over insurances to specifically cover services here and I have only been met with " your insurance does not cover... well anything!!" I have had to have three way calls with my insurance, myself and an assistant because they are so incompetent understand what is or is not included. Secondly, the very unprofessional staff not returning calls, hanging up the phone, rudeness and inability to provide their name! Or connect me to a supervisor after a very rude assistant told me I was a liar about services I have received... Shocker...! I highly suggest whoever is in charge of these assistants answering the phone to watch their team members interactions. Very displeased and will be switching over. Avoid at all costs.

This office is amazing. The staff is super friendly and clean!!! I have autistic twins who are hard of hearing, and both needed extensive work done, the staff was very accommodating to their sensitivities and answered all their questions where they could comprehend.
