Dr. Carolyn Travers grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and attained her undergraduate education at Illinois Wesleyan University. She earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University and spent the following year at University Hospital and Case Western in Cleveland, Ohio completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Dr. Travers then returned to Chicago to practice general dentistry. During that time, she served 6 years on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Academy of General Dentistry and was President of the organization from 2011-12.
Dr. Travers also served as a Delegate for Illinois AGD and had an active role in the advocacy for General Dentistry. She also devoted much of her time to providing dental care for Special Olympics Special Smiles and Goldie's Place, a shelter dedicated to aiding the homeless. In 2012, Dr. Travers and her family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Oceans Dental was excited to welcome Dr. Travers to the practice in June of 2013.
