Dr. Steven, as patients like to call him, was born in Taiwan and moved to Los Angeles at an early age. Following in the footsteps of his father, who is an experienced prosthodontist practicing in Taipei, he is ecstatic to implement the skills he has mastered throughout his career in his own practice.
In addition, Dr. Steven spends countless hours in continuing education every year to further hone his clinical skills. He prides himself in his conservative approach to dentistry and his emphasis on proper maintenance to ensure oral disease prevention. He enjoys his daily interactions with his patients and knowing that his work is helping them reach their goals for their oral health.
Growing up in Southern California, Dr. Steven was excited to move back from the east coast and to provide excellent dental care in the adjacent East Los Angeles Area. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his friends and family, try out new food, and work out at the gym. But most importantly, enjoy the beautiful weather Los Angeles has to offer.

After going through several dentist around LA who tried overcharging me or repair teeth that didn't need work just to charge me I came across Ocean Smiles. When other dental office tried to charge me over 400$ for deep cleaning here I paid barely 50 with pre-authorized payment from my insurance. Mary working with the scheduling and payments and advising me on every single step is beyond my expectations, she is patient, explains everything in detail, answers all my questions and helps with any concern. She was following up with me about the payment authorization from my insurance to make sure I don't have to pay extra out of pocket. Moreover first time a person that remembers all my time preferences and my particular wishes with a smile and exceptional kindness. I couldn't be happier with the service I received. Here I am not just another patient, each patient is treated individually with service tailored to the needs. My treatment done by the dentist was done very well, dr Chen made sure I am comfortable and pain-free during the procedure and gave me detailed instructions post-treatment. I couldn't ask for a better place to put a smile on my face! Thank you all for your hard work!

This dentist is amazing, from the staff to the doctors. I came in for a checkup and came out like a brand new person. Mary was the greatest , she helped me and comforted me and made my fear go away!! 10 stars if I could no doubt.

Never been a fan of going to the dentist from previous bad experiences but going in to see Dr. Chen at Ocean Smiles is a whole other experience of quality services. From walking in the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The dental assistant was very kind and explained what my insurance can cover and making feel very cared for in my dental health. Dr. Chen was always ensuring I was comfortable during my dental cleaning and just felt the whole service was amazing. Coming back to get more work done and not nervous at all.

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a dentist after finally getting dental insurance. I came across "ocean smiles" that is 5min away from my home. I called to set up an appointment, first off receptionist was very friendly she explained the process, and she answered all my questions that I had. I was excited to finally see an dentist after a long period of time of not having dental insurance, but also a little nervous. Dr Chen made me feel extremely comfortable and safe, he explained every little detail of what was going to be needed and the process of everything which made me feel 100x better about my visit. Also I want to add, everyone in this office was so kid friendly my 2 year old son even enjoyed being there. I would definitely be going back. I will also be recommending Dr. Chen to my family members and friends!

This is by far one of the best dental clinics I've been to. The staff and dentist are kind, thoughtful, transparent and genuinely care about their patients. They were able to always schedule my procedures timely and made accommodations as needed. If you want an honest and professional dentist, come here!

I had been suffering from a swollen upper left gum with moderate tooth pain. Not knowing what was going on. Definitely not knowing which dentist to go to. I had mentioned it to my coworker, she referred me to Dr. Chen. She assured me he was going to know exactly what was going on. To make a appointment with him. I made the appointment. The dental office is very clean. Everything was very clean. Dr. Chen explained to me what was going on and the procedures that had to be done. His very professional and honest.I had mentioned to Mary the office manager my financial situation. Dr. Chen worked with me. Ocean Smiles surpassed my expectations. My niece who is actually studying to be a dentist recommended this place. I have been to many dentists and I want to say this one blew my mind. The staff is very knowledgeable and they share that with their patients. They are very patient and nice. They all seem to know what they are doing. Dr. Chen is great and explains what he is doing. He is gentle and has a great connection with his patients and staff. The place is clean and you feel safe knowing they keep it clean and sanitized at all times. Very professional place I recommend it I've been through so many places and I have found my permanent Dentist!

I have been coming here for about a year now and I have to say that I am satisfied with the the dental services provided by Dr. Chen and staff. I have had a tooth extraction, two fillings, and an implant. The procedures were performed on a timely manner with little to no lasting pain. I was pleased by the results and complimented by my friends and family. Dr. Chen is very attentive and provides and individualized plan for all his patients. The staff is very friendly and provide helpful information freely and upon request. I will continue coming here for all dental services. Thank you Dr. Chen and staff!

I have been going to Ocean Smiles family dentistry for over a year now and I'm confident to say that it is by far the best service I've had from a dentistry. My comfort was their biggest priority and they always took the time to explain whatever work i needed done. The place is always clean and sometimes even decorated according to holiday/season. It may seem small but it makes the trip to the dentist less scary and pleasant. I always enjoy my appointments and I look forward to the dentist visits and it's all thanks to the staff.

The place is clean, friendly, and follows covid guidelines. The staff is nice and respectful. The place was professional and very safe. the work they did on me was gentle and it didn't hurt at all. I had a cleaning done and everything went well. at the end of my visit they gave me a goody bag with toothpaste and a new tooth brush. they are kid friendly and know how to be kind.

My family has gone to Ocean Smiles for a while now and it's my favorite Dentistry. Usually the dentist scares me but the way they treat me here makes the fear go away. the staff cares about you and always make sure that you're comfortable. i went in for a cleaning today and they explained the work that was being done in a way that i can understand.

Dr. Chen's and his staff were very professional. I went in for a deep, teeth cleaning and the procedure went very good. I was well received by the receptionist. The dental assistant thoroughly explanined my benefits. The technician and Dr. Chen did a nice cleaning job and provided x-rays. I look forward to returning to complete my procedure.
