I am thrilled to be able to practice dentistry in the most beautiful and friendly beach in North Carolina. I am originally from Wake Forest, NC. My husband, Erin, and I opened Ocean Isle Family Dentistry in May 2013 and have 3 beautiful children, Abigail, Finley and Webb. I attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery. Prior to my dental education I received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders at East Carolina University. Following dental school, I returned to ECU to complete a General Practice Residency at The Brody School of Medicine. My residency advanced and refined my skill set to be proficient at placing dental implants, oral surgery, emergency diagnosis and treatment, treatment of gum disease, root canals, dentures, partials, preventative dentistry and much more. These skills will help minimize referrals and allow for more convenient dental care.
Staying up to date with the latest advancements and technology is important. My staff and I take time out regularly to attend continuing education courses and maintain CPR, OSHA and HIPAA certifications. I am also a proud to be a member of the North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association and the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce.
Dentistry is my pride and passion so I am careful to listen and respond to each patients individual needs and provide quality care that I can be proud of. I will take the time to educate and discuss ways to maintain and improve your smile and oral health. Well informed patients are better prepared to make decisions about their dental care and will be more satisfied with their treatment.

Another 6 month check up and another very satisfied experience with Dr. Laura and her staff. I find them to be exceptional. They are friendly, courteous, caring and professional. They are attentive to detail and highly focused on the individuals personal situation. If someone has moved into the area and is looking for a dentist I highly recommend Family Dentist.

Dr Douna is the most patient and knowledgeable dentist. When I had complications from two fillings, the wonderful receptionist was able to work me in for several impromptu, 10 minute appointments. When complications continued, Dr Dauna advised me that I could potentially be facing a root canal. However, she tried every method (including patience) so I could avoid such an arduous procedure. And she was Right! Her office is clean and soothing, and the staff are professional, friendly and understanding.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Laura since 2013 shortly after she opened the practice. She is an exceptional professional who conveys great care and compassion with her patients. She has taken good care of our dental health needs over the years. Her staff is terrific. We would not consider changing dentists. As far as we are concerned, Dr Laura will be our dental provider for as long as possible.

I am thrilled that I've found my new dentist, as I was not happy with my former dentist. At the recommendation of a friend, I made the call to Dr. Laura's office. The doc and her office manager spent so much time and energy with me. I left the office feeling grateful and comforted by their kind and efficient attention. Excellent visit! Not only did I not have any cavities, but I was also complimented on my toothbrushing skills. Dr. Laura is awesome and very through with her exam, also her staff are very friendly which brings my stress levels down. It is so hard to find a quality dentist plus her office is very convenient.
