If you have an emergency dental need, we urge you to contact our office first rather than going to a hospital emergency room or an urgent care facility. We are much better equipped to address a dental emergency than a medical facility. This is recommended so we don't hinder the ability of our medical facilities by dealing with dental emergencies they are ill equipped to handle.

Had to come in today for a tooth extraction I scheduled 2 weeks ago. The last 2 days the tooth got really infected. Dr.Wittke was absolutely great he assured me everything that was going on and that they would be able to extract the tooth unless I felt a lot of pain. It was absolutely painless and he was very gentle in pulling it out. I am forever grateful for releaving my pain! Highly recommended!

Just went to Ocean Family Dental for the first time yesterday, and absolutely had to leave a review (which I never do). I've had minor to severe pain in one side of my face for about a year now. When it first started to get bad I went to a dentist who literally never even addressed my pain, but instead had me schedule root canals for two teeth that weren't even bothering me. After a few visits with him I decided to find a different dentist. But then life happened and I couldn't afford to continue seeking help. A few days ago the pain became so unbearable, I couldn't even sleep. It was a Saturday morning when I looked up dentists in my area. Quite a few said they were open, but when I called they said they were closed. I was about to give up when I finally got someone to answer my call. I was told that they were seeing new patients, but were booked up for a few weeks. When I explained I really needed to see someone that day due to the severity of the pain and how long it had persisted, they said they'd see me if I came over right away. I was there within 20 minutes, and had only sat down in the waiting room for a few moments when I was brought back. The assistant was originally only going to take x-rays of the area that was causing pain, but left it up to me if we took a full set. I decided to go ahead and do them all. She was very patient and understanding of just how uncomfortable dental x-rays are, and got me through them in a few short minutes. She sat with me while we waited for Dr. Gilbert, who showed up a few minutes later. I could have cried when he said "you need a lot if different work done, but for now let's focus on getting you out of pain". I was so relieved to hear that. He referred me to an oral surgeon to extract the two teeth that we believe are the culprits, as I'm more comfortable being put under for an extraction. He wrote me script for antibiotics and painkillers in the meantime. The assistant constantly advised that I call them if I need help with anything, from getting in to see the Oral Surgeon, to fighting my Insurance Company if they gave me any trouble. It was overall one of the best experiences I've had at a dentist. It is so nice to feel like you actually have people who are on your side and will fight to help you get what you need.

Dental assistant Kathy and Dentist Dr. Marano were amazing! I think it is safe to say that nobody "enjoys" going to the dentist but these two amazing ladies made the experience enjoyable! I cannot thank Kathy enough for being so caring during the cleaning and making sure I was okay during the entire process. They both were so gentle and kind and took the time to explain things to me and answer all of my questions. Not only are they great at their jobs, but they both seem like wholesome human beings! And the entire office had a wonderful vibe to it, from the lady that took my xrays (sorry I did not get your name) to the front desk receptionists that scheduled my appointment, everyone was wonderful!

After several years of being a patient at Ocean Family Dental they could not get me in for a week after a filling fell out and I was in pain. It appears that they no longer keep appts available for urgent situations. If you can't get an appointment when you truly need one, there is no point in being a patient here. I will find a different dentist that keeps availability for urgent situations.

Very unprofessional. Dr Sean Martin pulled a tooth on the upper left side of my mouth and cracked and broke the tooth in front of it. I went back to show him what he did and he said "oh well it was going to break anyways" he told me he wasn't gonna argue with me. My union tries to contact him and ocean family dental lied and said he went out to California to practice. He ruined my smile

Lisa Basile is an awesome Hygienist! thorough, precise and gentle. The dentist that did my exam was a real stiff. No personality. A stark contrast to Lisa.

First and foremost, this dental office was very unsanitary. New to the area, I chose this practice because of its proximity to my home and because it was in my network. I went in for a cleaning, X-rays and checkup. I told the receptionist that I only wanted services covered by my insurance. She told me that they didn't know what was covered and didn't have the manpower to check. In all my 66 years, I have never come across refusal. So I requested a cleaning only. The first thing I noticed was that there were no sinks. I had to spit into a FUNNEL! I also noticed that the X-ray bite wings were scattered all over the place.

They have poor management of time my appointment was at 10 sat for an hour before I was told the doctor wouldn't be ready for awhile longer and wanted to take xrays in the meantime to ensure I wouldn't walk out. Will not go back will not recommend

I usually go to the Surf City office and Dr. Gilbert is my go to Dentist. The entire staff have made my visits and treatments as comfortable and successful as any I have ever experienced. Care and comfort are their priority!
