Dr. Lily Yao was born and raised in Northern California in the city of San Francisco. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Communications at the University of California, Davis. In her college years, she co-published healthcare research papers primarily focusing on the method of molecular replication of Giardia lambia, a microscopic parasite. She also was involved in local community healthcare clinics in Sacramento and became a chair member of the Global Dental Brigades projects focused on providing quality patient-focused dental care and preventative oral health care education to underserved communities and even overseas, in Honduras.
At a young age, her passion for artistry and for the health profession inspired her love for dentistry. She attended the only recognized three year accelerated Doctorate program in the United States at the University of Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. Dr. Yao has received her Invisalign Certification and through attending continuing education courses, she has since helped hundreds of patients achieve happy healthy smiles through Invisalign and by providing caring and comfortable dentistry. She is a past and current member of the California Dental Association (CDA), American Dental Association (ADA) and the San Mateo Dental Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Yao loves to enjoy board games and PC/ video games with friends and family, watch Netflix shows and Korean dramas, discover new hole in the wall restaurants and enjoy the outdoors with her adorable Maltese puppy.
Dr.ShivaAmanat was born and raised in Southern California. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Chapman University and continued on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences.
From a young age, she devoted herself to giving back to her community, which led her on the path of dentistry. She is dedicated to providing the most meticulous and attentive care to her patients. Dr. Amanat values honest communication with her patients and is passionate about helping them attain an ideal and healthy smile through the highest quality of care.
Dr. Amanat is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Orange County Dental Society. She is a certified Invisalign provider and regularly takes continuing education courses on cosmetic and restorative dentistry to stay current with the latest advancements in dentistry.
Dr. Joelle Tavitian received her dental degree in 1999 from theUniversity of Southern California. She then pursued two additional years of education after receiving her dental degree. She completed her endodontic specialty training in 2001 from theUniversity of Southern California, with knowledge and experience in all aspects of morphology, physiology, and pathology of the human dental pulp and periradicular tissues.
Dr. Tavitian understands that dentistry has many built-in anxieties, and she is committed to providing excellence in Endodontic services in a professional, caring, and comfortable atmosphere, with exceptional and unmatched customer service.
When not in herCosta Mesa dentaloffice, Dr. Tavitian enjoys traveling, live concerts, and theater with family and friends. She sometimes mixes her passion for travel with volunteer work abroad by providing free dental care for orphaned children and less privileged communities in Armenia.

It was my first time visiting OC Healthy Smiles on Monday, 7/11. From the moment of check-in to check-out, I experienced nothing short of a perfect experience. The employees greeted me as soon as I walked into the office and offered help to check in on the Ipad. After a short period, an assistant gave me a tour of the office (This was the first dentist I've been to that showed me around.) After being taken into the patient room, the assistant showed me the AWESOME concierge menu. The menu consisted of noise-canceling headphones, a blanket, pillow, ear plugs, and many more items! Dr. Yao came in shortly after; she's friendly, cheerful, communicative (explains thoroughly), and awesome. After the treatment, they gave me a thoughtful goodie bag consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, pen, and a hand-written note (WOW!!)

I had such a great experience at OC Healthy Smiles! I recommend them to all of my friends and family. Definitely the best dental experience I've had; the staff does everything possible to make you feel comfortable during your cleaning or procedure, and they educate you on everything that's going on during the procedure. I personally loved this because now I am so much more knowledgeable about my dental health and this helps me to make better decisions regarding my dental health between cleanings. Soo... First trip back to the dentist in about 15 Years... For the year 2022, Dentist office visit was well... it was extremely pleasant. At OC Healthy Smiles, VERY Pleasant experience. At first they will do an intro and find out what type of services or dental history you have. Next they will do digital photos and X-Rays of your teeth... than go over long term plan of what the patient wants/hopes to achieve. After that if there are any concerns the plan is developed and executed. Fortunate for me I need a crown, filling, & cleaning. For the Crown and Filling, to be honest... super comfortable and the staff took care of all your concerns... did not feel a thing during the procedures... not even the needle! The type of equipment and training everyone had most likely contributed to the comfortable experience it gives its patients. Not to mention it probably makes it easier for the staff to perform their duties. Dental cleaning, exams, X-Rays, assistants, hygienist, and both Dr. Yao & Dr. Nguyen took care of you. Absolute professionalism even when I tried to get them to break out of it the staff still maintained a professional environment. Honestly, I would recommend again. Great professional staff that actually want you to have a Great Experience... no good but GREAT!

OC Healthy Smiles is the best dental office I've been to. Everyone there is so pleasant and helpful and I've never felt treated so well at any office. The front desk staff are helpful and will answer all your questions. My dental hygienist Nicole is very knowledgeable and explains everything so easily. Dr. Yao is also excellent and gives great advice. I had a wonderful experience- I honestly felt so pampered, I wasn't used to that level of service that I felt almost guilty! Everyone there will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have the best treatment.

Thanks Dr. Nguyen and all of the staff for keeping my teeth healthy and strong. The most welcoming dental staff in OC, for sure. They also do everything possible to make your visit comfortable... really, like blankets, tv, coffee, whatever you want! And they are great at what they do, from the front office, to the hygienists, to the doctors. Highly recommend!

As someone who's particularly prone to cavities, I'm no stranger to dental procedures. So when I moved across the country in 2016, finding a new dentist was a top priority. I was fortunate to discover OC Healthy Smiles shortly after arriving in Orange County, and I've been grateful for their services over the past six years. The entire staff makes you feel comfortable, which isn't a feeling you always associate with a dentist's office. I appreciate their transparency in treatment plans and the professional service I've received during every appointment. I highly recommend OC Healthy Smiles to both longtime residents and newcomers to the area.
