Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The technical term for these problems is malocclusion, which means bad bite.
The results of orthodontic treatment can be dramatic beautiful smiles, improved dental health and an enhanced quality of life for people of all ages. Orthodontic problems must be diagnosed before treatment begins. Proper diagnosis involves careful study of photographs, x-rays, and dental impressions.
Treatment typically lasts from 6 to 30 months, depending on age, and the severity of the orthodontic problem. Outstanding results are also highly dependent on maximum cooperation and coordination of care between you and our practice. Our Orthodontist are committed to delivering the best possible service in order for you to achieve your orthodontic goals.
All children should receive their first orthodontic evaluation by age seven. This allows early identification of potential problems. Certain orthodontic conditions are also best treated at this age. Full braces are placed after most of the permanent teeth erupt, generally age ten to twelve. Adults are also prime candidates for orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Sharma brings with her a wealth of knowledge. She was trained on the Periolase laser for LANAP Surgery, by Millennium Technology. She is an active member of the United States Dental Institute for orthodontics and she is currently completing her residency in implant surgery. She has a commitment to continuing education to stay on the forefront of dental care. She thrives to bring new technologies to the practice to best serve her patients.
Following her belief in giving back to the community Dr. Sharma volunteers in community service, including outreach programs to local schools to promote good oral health. She believes that prevention is better than cure and this philosophy begins early in life. Hence her passion for educating children.

I have been with this office close to 4 years now (cleaning, Crown and root canal) and overall I am very happy with the services, specially Dr. Sharma. She is very responsive and care about the patient.

I had a such a positive experience that I wanted to share my visit. I came in to check this place out through a groupon deal. I was so impressed with the caring attitude of the staff (thank you Vivian!!) and the professionalism of Dr. Sharma that i became a regular patient. Last week I brought my daughter in who subsequently needed braces. The orthodontist was thoughtful and placed my daughter at ease and it became a stress free visit for both us! So the other reviewer who said that this is not a multi-speciality office is i think mis-informed! I highly recommended this office for your kids and adults like me!

Dr. Sharma and Dr. Israel have very kindly used their expertise to help me correct my open bite and mitigate my severe gum recession, where 2 other dentists were unable. Their suggestions for toothpaste, toothbrushes, cleaning, flossing, general mouth care, and other daily life routines have made a world of a difference for all my pain symptom but also my confidence with smiling and eating. The receptionist Lakshmi is also very kind, funny and accommodating to my schedule traveling regularly across the country for school.

I'm updating my review.... The entire team here is super friendly and personable which I appreciate. , I'm always nervous visiting the dentist and they make me feel comfortable. I've been a patient at OC dental specialist for the last over 3 years now. Everyone from the front desk, to the hygienist to Dr. Sharma are very professional and polite. They dedicate the time to answer your questions.did my crowns & veneers with Dr. Sharma who was very thorough and patient. I just wish the lab they use was a little more experienced and you know what maybe they are big veneers and one crown has some issues which Dr. Sharma was happy to fix. Thank you to the entire team

Really thorough cleaning. I moved from another dentist due to aggressive cleaning and OC dental is much better. Clear communication with Dr. Sharma, very knowledgeable and empathetic.

Dr Nina is great. I went in today with a last-minute unscheduled appointment. She was fantastic and treated me exceptionally well. Came in for a possible cracked tooth/pain. Luckily just needed a filling. Great professional, I am a long-time client.

Overall not happy with the experience. I scheduled for an appointment at 6pm and came in. Dr. Sharma was not there so another dentist did my cleaning. I scheduled for a deep cleaning due to gum issue with my teeth. To me what they did felt no different from a regular cleaning but they charged me more than $700 upfront, which my insurance covers half of it. Also when I came in, the dentist appeared to be impatient and was super harsh with the cleaning. Her cleaning was so harsh that my gum was bleeding a lot. I know bleeding is normal during the cleaning process, but what she does is she is scraping my gum, not my teeth with her sharp tool which was very painful. Also the office is super unsanitary with unclean equipment. I would not recommend coming here for dental services.

Similar to many of the other 1 star reviews - the billing department is an absolute nightmare. They are truly scam artists and crooks. I had services done in February which I paid for in FULL. And was told insurance would cover 80%. My insurance did pay for the services provided but when I looked through through the explanation of benefits the amounts the crooks billed was much higher than I had paid. Also it's been weeks since my insurance issued payment to the dental office and I have yet to receive payment. Currently in the process of submitting a formal investigation - so BEWARE. The positive reviews are likely from people not checking their bills or paying entirely out of pocket. They're scammers and their dental work isn't even good.

TERRIBLE PLACE. Let me start by saying to review the 1 starts before coming to this unprofessional, scamming, rude, entitled place. Who ever handles billing does not let you know if you have a bill due! Also, what kind of business bribes their customer to give good reviews. I know some people do not have the same experience, but to some of us this place has screwed us over by NOT communicating to its customers. All they care about is the money. Sure, they are nice and will get the work you need done, but watch your wallets because this place will take every penny you have. They misinform you how much things cost and change it up on you the next time around to a higher price....It's absurd. Next thing you know you are in collections. To be honest, they do not deserve to be in business. If someone makes a mistake they should help fix it not avoid responsibility. They are scammers, so watch out. BE AWARE! STAY AWAY and AVOID PAYING THEM $!

Explained to staff and doctor that I needed a temporary fix until I returned to Kansas to see my dentist. Doctor insisted that I get a crown quoted at $1600. Paid for my single x-ray and consultation. Found a more than qualified dentist the next day and will be getting a crown for $765. Price Gouging!!! American people Demand and Deserve Better!!!

Had a crown break over the weekend and the website says they are open Saturday and for emergency appointments but that does not mean for new patients. Would not help me even though listed as an emergency dentist and soonest given was Wednesday

Great service and care. I was on vacation with severe pain over the weekend with no one to turn to. Dr. Sharma took me in on a Saturday as an emergency and made sure I was healed, medicated and safe. The team at O.C. Dental Specialists was fantastic and I will forever be grateful to Dr. Sharma. Thank you!

I had a wonderful experience working g with Dr. Sharma. She was able to fit me in same day when I had a major dental emergency with a crown breaking. Beverly was extremely helpful in talking me through exactly what I needed and working to get me into see Dr. Shaa. Friendly and very skilled at what they do. I could not be happier with the results. Already booked a cleaning with them next week. Definitely would recommend to anyone in Orange County.

Very nice people and I was initially very happy with the service. However, billing has been a nightmare. I was asked to pay out of pocket even though I have insurance and told insurance would reimburse me. My insurance is supposed to cover 80% of the cost. The dentist didn't file the claim properly the first time. The second time my insurance argued one of the procedures down to a lower one so either they didn't file properly again or they up-billed the procedure. So far my insurance is only reimbursing an arbitrary contracted amount that is a third of what I was billed by the dentist. When I asked about this contracted amount they had no idea what it was. So two months later I've paid for 60% of a procedure I should have paid 20% for and I have a hole in my jaw I have to rinse food out of constantly. Oh and they've not once returned a phone call. I have to wonder if asking people to pay out of pocket is an intentional way to get more money for the procedure. They obviously know they have contract rates with insurance companies because they negotiated it. So they direct bill patients their full price then put in the insurance claim knowing they're only going to reimburse the contracted amount and the customer gets shafted for the difference.

5 star rating, best dentist ever. I had lots of work to be done, 4 root canals, and cavities, I was very scared of the dentist due to a past incident with a different dentist. However with Dr. Sharma I feel very safe and confident that I will be okay, they have brought back my dental health and given me a great outlook for the future in regards to no longer have bad memories or fearing the dentist.
