My lifes work as an orthodontist is to give my patients beautiful smiles. I am delighted and thankful to be in a position to make a good difference in each persons life by increasing their oral health and boosting their self-esteem.
Many individuals begin their orthodontic journey feeling self-conscious about their appearance: misaligned teeth are noticeable, and this influences a persons self-esteem. Most patients are hesitant to communicate with their peers because they are worried about how they are regarded, and hence look timid or distant.
I witness my patients develop during their therapy. Each individual notices the improvements in their looks and feels more confident in their appearance. They arrive at their sessions eager toshow us their improvement, and best of all they begin smiling without feeling self-conscious.
After migrating to the United States, I began my studies at theUniversity of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry.There I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) and continued with my Masters of Science (MS) in Orthodontics. My Orthodontic Fellowship was completed through UCONN School of Dental Medicine. I am board certified by the American Board Of Orthodontists.
Ive been practicing orthodontics for two decades and Im more passionate than ever. I spend mydays working with individuals who are trying to better their lives, who are driven and involved in the process, and who fill my office with positive energy and expanding smiles. What I do is something Igenuinely enjoy.
The continual research and development of novel treatment, components, and technology areamong the most fascinating elements of orthodontics. From first diagnoses through treatmentplanning, therapy, and retention, these changes influence every aspect of the orthodonticexperience.
I remain on top of the newest advances by engaging in study groups and attending meetings, presentations, and seminars as part of my ongoing education. I carefully consider each new optionbefore implementing the best into the workplace and patient care.
When Im not treating patients, I prioritize spending time with my family. My spouse and I have two great children who keep us occupied with their numerous hobbies and activities. We love hikingand biking as a family and are grateful to be a part of such a great community. I joyfully volunteer atthe temple and soup kitchen as a means of giving back and helping others.
Dr. Kang earned his Ph.D. in oral microbiology from the Seoul National University School ofDentistry. She pursued her study in the United States to become an orthodontist after 15 years ofpractice in general dentistry. Dr. Kang earned a Master of Science in Dentistry degree from IndianaUniversity, as well as a clinical certificate in orthodontics. She is a board-certified expert inorthodontics by the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of several local, national, andinternational organizations.
Dr. Kang is an orthodontic clinical director and professor at the University of Detroit MercysGraduate Orthodontic Program. She has taught and spoken on a variety of orthodontic treatments and procedures, including classic edgewise appliances, orthodontic miniscrew application, functional appliances, pre-surgical orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, and transparent aligners,among others.
Dr. Kang is the mother of two university students. Her spouse works as an internet securitycomputer engineer. She enjoys traveling, watching movies, going on gourmet tours, and gardeningin her spare time. Dr. Kang grew up in Taiwan and graduated from high school there, therefore sheis proficient in Mandarin. She is excited to use her knowledge and experience to help Dr. Dhawanproduce smiling faces.

The staff and the doctor were great! Very friendly when I scheduled my appointment and when I went in for my appointment. Would highly recommend!

I wish they have negative stars for bad reviews. The office is beautiful but that's about it. I went there last year with my daughter for evaluation and the comments from the doctor for my 10 year old at the time daughter was horrible. First thing she said about my daughter's teeth when she saw her was 'you have an ugly smile'. That just put me and her off right there. She told us she will have to remove 4 permanent tooth to fix her teeth and even after that it may not be fixed as it should be. Of course I didn't continue her treatment there. Went to kennet orthodontist and today my daughter's smile is fixed and it's always been beautiful. But the doctor's cheap comments did lot on my girls mind at the time. She thought she has an ugly smile and it may never be fixed. I forgot to put review back that time but I remembered now cuz I needed too. Hopefully doctor fixes her thinking first then treat the kids. Highly disappointed with this doctor.

An absolute pleasure whenever I walk in! Dr. Dhawan cares about people just as much as she cares about their smile! Along with her fun staff, she has created a beautiful environment and way of approaching people that is beyond knowing just their name. Oakland Orthodontics happened to be a blessing to our kid for his ortho needs. While we had several questions in mind, the first day appointment went really well explaining to us what exactly is needed that helped us to make decisions quick. The Clinic is very impressive and really liked the high tech being used as part of the treatment. The other side is the professional & courteous team who goes that extra mile to make us comfortable, take care of the needs and follow up through to make sure everything is alright. Overall the experience is great and I would recommend this place for everyone with Ortho needs. Great place - Great team. Dr. Dhawan - Thank you and your team for all you do !!!

Definitely the most knowledgeable and nicest doctor (Dr. Dhawan) and staff (Maureen and others). I got three opinions on Invisalign (three very different opinions) and Dr. Dhawan had by far the best option for treatment. I have had great results.

I was impressed by the hygienic space and harmonies design on my first visit. After I chose to have a treatment with Dr. Dhawan, I became more and more sure that besides the modern facilities, her rich and professional experience and customer-centered attitude made the service outstanding. Everytime I walked in for an appointment, they always welcomed me with a big smile as if I was a first timer. They won't treat someone differently after one joins one of their dental plans. Blatantly, I was not a good patient at first because I was not used to wearing the trays. However, They are always nice and help me without any complaints. They're always one call away whenever you're face with a problem. This is really the greatest orthodontics you can find around the area. I would like to recommend it to my friends and who have the same need with me.

My experience at Oakland Orthodontics has been more than amazing. My daughter has started coming here for close to a year for her braces. Dr. Dhawan and staff go above and beyond not only in their expertise of orthodontics, but her bed side manner which exceeds expectations. The office is absolutely welcoming with beautiful modern, state of the art equipment and seasonal decor. Give it a 5 star - you will not be let down here!!! Thanks again!

Stellar service and staff. Dr. Dhawan will answer any and all questions that you have about the process for yourself or your child. Large screens to easily see what will occur over time in your mouth. An exceptional experience for us as went above and beyond to answer questions and reassure my super anxious child. The clinic is new, modern, and equipped with the latest technology. All staff members are kind and answer all questions about financial or appointments. We have had a great experience. I would highly recommend the Oakland Orthodontics to anyone who is working with an anxious kid or has a fear of braces.

Dr Dhawan is very kind and caring. She is the best, understands all your concerns and will address each one! Great staff very helpful and greets patients with a smile. She will work with you to get the best smile. She is always available to help with all you dental needs! I have been a patient of Dr Dhawan since 2021 I wouldn't think of going to another Specialist. Hands down the best orthodontist in all of metro Detroit. I have been doing Invisalign and am so happy not only with how things have gone so far, but more so with the attention to detail, dedication, and follow up Dr. Dhawan has given me. I was told by a lot of my friends who are dentists that my teeth would be difficult to "fix" since I should have had braces when I was younger, but Dr. Dhawan knew exactly what to do and walked me through everything. My care has been unbelievably awesome and I could not have asked for a better experience. The office and staff are amazing as well which is always an added bonus when looking for excellent orthodontic care. Trust me you will get the best care possible here with Dr. Dhawan, I certainly did :D

Wonderful staff! Dr.Dhawan is the best of the best. She's so kind, friendly, and we always feel welcomed in her workplace. Truly someone anyone should trust with their teeth, and her brand new office is absolutely stunning. I trust that my daughter's teeth are completely safe in her hands, I would recommend her to anyone!

I love my doctor and Marine there always happy an very nice. They do a great job on my braces. They look awesome!!! I love my smile now. I look forward to going back to change my color. There service is always great no waiting long periods of time. I will definitely recommend anyone to go here. The office is very welcoming.

This is a beautiful place and staff was nice but do not go here unless you want to over pay!!! It's a new clinic which is why it's so expensive! I went in for a consult they asked me to put down $1200 and were willing to 'start' records for half not even put them on but I went somewhere else and was able to put down only $500 to actually get started.Good luck with this practice because I see why the parking lot is always empty every time I pass by..... doctor is also nasty nice ....
