Oakbrook Family Dentistry was founded in 1982 by Dr. Thomas Janecek and his wife, Sharon. The Janeceks chose the name 'Oakbrook' after the name for the then newly-developing Oakbrook Area in Dorchester County whereour practice is located. In 1989, Dr. Janecek relocated the practice to its current location on 1806Trolley Road. Dr. Janecek personally designedthe new office and played a major role in various stagesof its construction.
In September 2009, Dr. John Poole joined Dr. Janecek at Oakbrook Family Dentistry. Dr. Janecek has since retired from practicing dentistry, but he remains involved with the dental field through his dental office design company, Dental Design Solutions, Inc.( Please see links section.)

Dr. John Poole has been a practicing general dentist for fifteen years. He was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry by the caring dentists he knew in his family and home community of Denmark, SC. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology at Washington and Lee University in 1997, and graduated from the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2002.
After completing his dental training, Dr. Poole served as an active-duty dental officer in the U.S. Navy for three years. In 2005, the Poole familyrelocated back to the Charleston, South Carolina area. After working in other private practices, he joined Dr. Thomas Janecek at Oakbrook Family Dentistry in 2009.

Dr. Poole has a great bedside manner and his calm demeanor helps with dental anxiety. He listens to any and all dental concerns. The staff is equally as amazing and are very good at setting up appointments and squeezing you in if need be. I highly recommend Oakbrook Family Dentistry!

Today was my first visit at Oakbrook Family Dentistry and I felt very comfortable from the moment I walked in to this clean and quaint office. I have quite a bit of dental anxiety, but Dr. Poole & his staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and comforting. I think it's really important to have a trusting relationship with your dental practice, and Oakbrook Family Dentistry definitely has my trust!

Moved to the area recently and saw a few people had recommended Oakbrook, im so glad I decided to go with them! Just called this morning and they managed to get me in today for my first appointment and cleaning. Everyone was just incredibly helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Poole and the staff at Oakbrook Family Dentistry are the best. They are kind, considerate and understanding. As someone who has extreme dental anxiety, I struggle to find a dentist that makes me feel at ease. The team at Oakbrook is top notch and I no longer have anxiety before my visits.
