Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Steven Haase graduated from Wichita State University and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1988. Dr. Haase relocated to Austin to begin his third dental practice, Oak Canyon Dentistry, where he treats patients of all ages. He practices in most areas of specialty dentistry, thus minimizing the need to refer patients to another office. Dr. Haase spends time with each patient and believes in painless dentistry for the entire family while utilizing the most current materials to provide natural-looking restorations.
His professional career outside of his practice includes lecturing on, and teaching, cosmetic dental techniques to dentists around the country. Dr. Haase has published writings in numerous national dental journals, as well as writing a children 's book titled 'Visiting the Tooth Doctor'. Dr. Haase, along with his patient, Grace Stephens, began the 'Give Back A Smile Program', a national program benefiting the victims of domestic abuse. He is member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association.
He has been very active with the homeless and as past vice-president and long-term board member of the Ecumenical Chaplaincy for the Homeless, he has participated in years of fundraising and aid for those less fortunate. He has been in the Masonic Lodge for almost thirty years and the Shriner's organization for over twenty-five years.
Dr. Steven L. Haases first solo, from scratch practice thrust him into managing and providing fee-for-service dentistry which developed into twelve hour workdays just to accommodate the patient flow and pace. Selling a dental partnership and building another seven figure practice pushed life to the ledge of insanity of which Dr. Haase fell off.
Dr. Haases survival and road to recovery inspired his national lecture, Conquering the Insanity, shared with thousands of dentists around the country teaching cosmetic dentistry, practice management and personal boundary setting methods to avoid that ledge of insanity dentists tend to visit throughout our careers. He offers a candid, frank discussion outlining his journey through drug abuse/recovery and addictions presence in dental offices throughout our profession in his presentation, The Reality of Addiction.
Dentists must deal with incredible daily challenges in both their personal and professional worlds. Dr. Haase shares his inspiring story of overcoming lifes obstacles and offers techniques for coping with our inevitable daily challenges. Also covered are new found practice jewels and a dynamic cosmetic presentation offering incredible clinical tips and ideas to take back to the office
Addiction has been viewed as a shameful, weak character flaw, though in reality it is a disease and disability. Dr. Haase shares his personal, first-hand experience and the many aspects of chemical dependency which can exist within the confines of a dental practice including patients, team and doctors. Topics include the addiction process, various drugs from prescription to manufactured street drugs and their effects, the signs and symptoms of addiction, treatment options and ways to curtail incidents associated with addiction.

If you have anxiety about going to the dentist, this is your place. Dr. Haase and staff are absolutely incredible. Polite, friendly and compassionate dental care!

Words cannot express the compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail this office has. First, reception was patient and understanding when an appointment needed to be changed last moment. The hygienist is very thorough and is gentle. The staff is engaging, have access to great technology, and just seem happy (they were celebrating someone's 9th work anniversary on my first visit in May, decorations were everywhere). Dr. Haase's wife is very courteous. Dr. Haase found out that what I initially thought was an excruciating cavity had to do with my bite. I am sure my last office would have been happy to do a root canal. He saved me thousands by filing off a few milimeters...that is the attention to detail I want in my dentist. I'll be a lifelong patient.

I recently had an appointment with Oak Canyon Dentistry for a deep cleaning. Everyone was super friendly and genuinely nice. I was extremely nervous (because who isn't lol) and they made sure I was comfortable at all times. Highly recommend! My teeth look and feel so clean now! Thank you for taking care of me!!

Dr. Haase is truly the best dentist I have ever visited. I had 2 crowns done and for the first time in my life, I did not feel anxiety. His mixture of professionalism and care for the patient is so comforting. And he has the Best team in the office. They all truly care! So Refreshing.

What a great experience! Dr. Haase is such a down-to-earth guy and his level-headed approach to taking care of me and my family is so insanely appreciated. The crew at Oak Canyon Dentistry are second to none! Lisa, Kristen, Jami, and Jessica have gone above and beyond to make my whole family's experience as stress free as possible. Of course, it all starts with Morgan and Mary in the front office. Talk about a dream team! Oak Canyon really does have A-players at every position. I would say the biggest strength of this office is their efficiency. Secondly, Dr. Haase has a uncommon expertise regarding bite and is exceptionally skilled at administering local anesthesia. He is the reason I overcame my crippling fear of it - I previously had an incident of dental caries (a cavity) filled with NO MEDS. I'm looking forward to continuing care here as long at they are in operation, God willing.

I usually don't write that many reviews however, my family and I had an exceptional experience at Dr. Haase's office. Friendly and professional staffs. Dr. Haase is very caring, warm and funny. He went through our X-rays in detail and not rushed at all. I had a filling done that evening he texted to check on me. Best dentist ever. We feel very safe and comfortable during the pandemic. Highly recommend.

The staff at Dr. Haase office is amazing, his wife Marie, and daughter Morgan were absolutely amazing when my 4 year old son came with me. They treated my son like he was their own and made the drilling go by much easier for me. LOL Thank you all again and I look forward to seeing y'all again. Jessica is awesome too!

My husband Greg went to see Dr. Haase because he had such a bad pain on his back tooth. The staff were so friendly, respectful, caring and courteous. Dr. Haase found time on his busy schedule to see him right away. He is the "BEST" reliable dentist that we have ever experienced! Definitely recommend.
