Dentistry provided in a warm and caring environment is what you will find at the office of Dr. Karen O'Rourke. The patients in the practice cover a wide age range; from infants to seniors. In practice for over 30 years, Dr. O'Rourke has a broad range of experiences you will value as a patient. She has avidly pursued continuing education, bringing a preventive orthodontic exerciser to her patients from Australia for children as young as three. The orthotropic treatment she provides is based on a philosophy and technique developed in England by Dr. John Mew. The benefit of this particular treatment is that it strives to correct the cause of the problem, not just straighten teeth. For adults, she has pursued education in cosmetic dentistry, full reconstruction, and implants to replace missing teeth.
Dr. O'Rourke graduated from the University of Michigan and then completed an optional one year General Practice Residency at the U of M hospital. This residency training took her through the eight dental specialties as well as rotations through the hospital. Emphasis was placed on treating medically compromised patients, oral cancer patients, and patients requiring dentistry under general anesthesia.
She taught for a number of years in the hygiene program at GRCC and is involved in a number of community and professional organizations. Dr. O'Rourke is on staff at Mercy Health Hospital and Spectrum Health Hospital. In addition, she is a Fellow of the American Association of Hospital Dentists, a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, and a member of the American Dental Association. Thankful for the gifts she has received, Dr. O'Rourke gives back to the community by volunteering at Health Intervention Services, the Adult Dental Services Program, and the Donated Dental Services Program of Michigan.
Dr. Wonderly was born and raised in Ohio. Dentistry intrigued Lora as a child and she always looked forward to visits with the family dentist. She was accepted at Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree and then Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia for her dental education. After graduation, she attended a general practice residency program at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Continuing her education is very important to her and she loves to expand her knowledge with the latest techniques and ideas. Dr Wonderly enjoys thinking outside the box and believes in finding the root cause of symptoms instead of only treating the symptoms. Some of her special interests include TMD, sleep apnea, orofacial myofunctional therapy otherwise known as 'face yoga' and tongue tie release. She also enjoys restorative and cosmetic dentistry through crown and bridge work, dental implants and orthodontics
Dr Wonderly loves outdoor activities, changing of the seasons and college football which is what brought her to Michigan. At any time, you can find Dr Wonderly biking, running, hiking or dining out at the local restaurant scene. She has a love for animals and adopted her dog Oakley who was rescued from a very abusive situation by a humane officer. Dr Wonderly volunteers at Grand Rapids HQ drop in center for homeless and at-risk youth performing dental screenings along with teaching dental health.
Susan began her 38-year dental career as a certified and registered dental assistant eventually transitioning into managing dental offices. Susan also has her Bachelors degree in Outdoor Education from CMU and a Bachelors degree in Recreational Therapy from Calvin College. She is an ordained minister, missionary in Tanzania Africa, published author and is the Executive Director for Son Rise Missionary Services. She loves to play golf, bake, sew and spend time with her ever increasing number of grandkids!
Carrie has been a dental assistant for 13 years. She is also a mother of four. Her genuine, friendly and caring personality shines through all the work she does. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping and cooking.
Samantha has been working in dentistry since 2014. She comes to us with several years of pediatric experience as a Dental Assistant and loves working with children and getting to know every person that comes through.
Sheila has been in dentistry for 33 years as a Dental Hygienist. She is licensed to administer local anesthetic, nitrous oxide as well as certified with laser dentistry. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygienist Association. Sheila enjoys working out at the gym, biking and spending time with her family.
Tori graduated from GRCC with her dental hygiene degree and is deeply dedicated about furthering her dental education to serve her patients the best that she can. Tori is passionate about people and loves to volunteer. She loves animals, especially cats. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, cooking and watching scary movies.
ORourke and Wonderly Dental is a great dental office, All of the staff are very friendly, caring and helpful. Agonizing childhood dental experiences had left me extremely challenged to seek dental services. Adulthood brought more challenging and frightening dental experiences. Several years ago I found myself in desperate need of dental care. A girlfriend, knowing my fear, recommended Dr. O'Rourke. What a blessing!!!! After sharing my past experiences during my first visit, Dr. O'Rourke's assistant assured me that I had no reason to be anxious and every effort would be made to assure my comfort. Since then, I have had extensive dental work done and each visit has been amazing. The entire office has a high level of professionalism wrapped in love, caring, empathy, and compassion.

I highly recommend O'Rourke & Wonderly Dental. I'm 72 and have been to a few dentist in my time, but Dr. O'Rourke and Dr. Wonderly and staff really care about the comfort and care of the patients. It "almost" makes a visit to the dentist a pleasure.

The staff and Dr. O'Rourke are extremely friendly and helpful. They helped get my teeth healthy again. I recommend them to everyone. You won't find a better dentist. Update: 2/16/22 -Still my favorite dentist. Sheila is fantastic, would highly recommend seeing her as your dental hygienist.

Dr. Wonderly did an incredible job on my teeth. I chipped the 4 in the front pretty bad; I had about half of the tooth gone on the middle two. Dr. Wonderly filled the gaps with bond and they look just as good, if not better, than they did before! Before getting my teeth fixed I couldn't even look in the mirror. I truly can't thank Dr. Wonderly enough for giving me my smile back.

i was really impressed with the intent to treat the whole person not just the teeth. The main reason for my five-star is my hygienist, Tori! She was absolutely the best hygienist I have ever had in my life! She was very informative and answered all of my questions .Great experience!

Love this dental office. The whole staff is sweet and caring from the moment you walk in to walking out the door. Sue and Sam at the front desk are kind and helpful with any insurance questions I have. Dr. Wonderly is so attentive, knowledgeable and personable. She is the best dentist I've ever had! I love both hygienists! Tori is quick and fun to talk to, I had Sheila on my last visit and she is so detail oriented and thorough! Both are amazing. I haven't had work done in a while but the last time I did both assistants-Carrie and Tara were lovely and patient with me. I was nervous and they made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Wouldn't go anywhere else for my dental care!

Went in for a cleaning and X-rays. Staff was very friendly and caring. After my thorough, delicate and painless cleaning My teeth feel amazing!! I see the couple bad reviews on here but I can assure you that what is said is not true. From my personal experience and those I know who've visited there has never been any pressured to have necessary work performed We only get one set of real teeth!! Great job again team!!

Such a great office! Dr. Wonderly is so kind and genuine! She also has great attention to detail and gives you a personalized treatment plan to fit your dental needs! Dr. O'Rourke is so caring and very knowledgeable in orthotropics! Sue at the front is wonderful at helping you with financial options and also very sweet! Sheila the hygienist is very thorough and will not miss a spot!! She is also great to chat with. Tara and Carrie are amazing assistants who help you feel at ease immediately! Great people and great dentistry! The best around! :)

My family and I have been with Dr. O'rourke and her incredible hygienist Jill for many years. Now, my 2 y/o nephew and 4 y/o niece are their newest patients. Jill is no longer with the practice, but I think I've found a compatible favorite in Tori! The bulletin boards in each patient room change periodically and serve to offer some type of oral education: the risks of overindulging in sugary treats, the benefits of flossing (I need this one tattooed to the backs of my eyelids), and Invisalign. The latter grabbed my attention as I have been self-conscious about my lowers and their slow regression to pre-braces placement for some time. One consultation with Dr. Wonderly and a few photos and impressions later, I was on my way to *perfect* teeth in just T-10 weeks! Full disclosure: Invisalign isn't for sissies. My mouth, gums, and jaw were quite sore for the duration of the treatment. I trained myself to bite down on foods using my lateral incisors and canines rather than my central incisors (Google it, I had to). I ate handheld foods with a fork and knife. I also painstakingly (pun unintended) walked away from many between-meals snacks and treats to avoid fumbling the retainers out and in again. DESPITE THAT, I am completely in love with my new teeth! The 10 week treatment was WORTH IT, giving me a newfound confidence and satisfaction in the way I've always wanted to look and be seen by others. I felt supported, encouraged, and reassured in my decision throughout the process by Dr. Wonderly and her awesome assistant Tara. An added bonus was that I could use my HSA to finance the Invisalign - win! I am grateful to Dr. O'rourke and Dr. Wonderly's team for their ongoing care, and especially for this most recent procedure. They have more than earned these five Google stars!

I have TMJ issues and needed a occlusion night guard. They were able to squeeze me in for some impressions and were very friendly. Tara the assistant is AMAZING! 10/10 recommend this office.
