Dr. Alan Barbieri comes to us from a highly successful practice in the Charleston area. With over 30 years of orthodontic experience, Dr. B, as he likes to be called, is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodonticsa distinction that fewer than 60% of orthodontists in the U.S. have achieved. Dr. B has been board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Novus Orthodontics is proud to announce Dr. Joel Cooper will be joining our practice on January 1, 2021. Dr. Cooper will be taking over the treatment for all of our current patients. Joel Cooper was born and raised in East Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and the Ohio State University for his professional training. His career has included significant time in academics and private practice, having spent 8 years in full-time education at MUSC and Baylor College of Dentistry and over 18 years of private practice in Nashville and Hilton Head as well as Singapore. He launched the Department of Orthodontics at Cincinnati Children 's Hospital and has been published in numerous journals. He trained as a specialist in both children 's dentistry and orthodontics Dr. Cooper has lectured in the USA, Ireland, Vietnam, Cambodia, and China. He has led numerous dental missions throughout the world including the Philippines, Vietnam, and Costa Rica. But despite his taste for world travel, you will see he is a southern boy at heart and loves interacting with people from all backgrounds, and particularly enjoys getting to know his patients. As he says to us, 'everyone everywhere wants to be proud of their smile, and it is a joy that as a team we can make that happen'. We are excited to introduce you to our newest Novus Orthodontics team member and hope you will enjoy getting to know him too.
Dr. Joseph was born in Charleston and raised in Greeleyville, SC (a town so small that it has no stoplights!). He is a graduate of the Citadel and received his DMD at the Medical University of South Carolina and his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Rochester in 1982. He has been board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics since 1994 and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Joseph has been in practice since 1982. It has brought him much joy teaching orthodontic concepts to dental residents of Palmetto Richland for 27 years. Dr. Joseph specializes in traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, Invisalign and TMJ therapy.
Dr. Joseph has three adult sons and is married to his wife Janet, who has two daughters. Their children recently blessed them with three grandchildren and two on the way! He loves spending time with his big family, including his ortho staff. Dr. Joseph and his team strive to provide a fun, caring family-like environment with the top priority being giving their patients the best result possible.
Dr. Keith Street has provided high-quality orthodontic care for children and adults in upstate SC since 1990. He received his DMD from MUSC in Charleston. Following dental school, he completed a one-year fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia with a primary focus on advanced restorative techniques in the periodontal-involved patient. Dr. Street then completed a two-year Orthodontic residency program and received his Orthodontic specialty degree at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Street is board eligible with the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Anderson Dental Society.
Dr. Lang Foster graduated with a BS degree from Wofford College in 1990. While at the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine, he received an HPSP scholarship from the United States Navy, and following graduation, entered the Navy and completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency. After serving in the Navy for seven years as a general dentist, Dr. Foster was selected for the TriService Orthodontic Residency Program at Wilford Hall Medical Center on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. There, Dr. Foster earned his certificate in orthodontics in 2004 and served as staff orthodontist at the United States Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan from 2004-2007.
Dr. Foster is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He enjoys keeping up with current trends and technology in orthodontics and routinely earns more than thirty credit hours of continuing education a year. Dr. Foster calls Anderson, SC home and has had a thriving practice there since 2009.
Dr. Diane Piccioni grew up in upstate New York and moved to South Carolina in the summer of 2018 to begin her orthodontic career. She attended dental school at SUNY at Buffalo and completed her orthodontic training in New York City. Her hospital-based residency program afforded her the opportunity to treat several complex multidisciplinary and orthognathic cases over the course of three years. She focuses on proper diagnosis and meticulous treatment planning prior to beginning treatment in order to achieve the best outcomes possible.
In her spare time, Diane enjoys running, hiking, reading, traveling, and playing guitar. She is an avid sports fan, rooting for the Buffalo Bills, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Syracuse Orange basketball team. While a piece of her heart will always live in NYC, she is excited to make South Carolina her home!

My experience was great. Melissa was very gentle when changing my wires. Miri and Chyna were awesome as well. The entire staff made sure I was very comfortable. Dr. Goodman is one of the best orthodontist in the city. Thanks Novus!!!!!!!

I have been a patient of NOVUS orthodontics since 2017. I have never had a bad experience until today. Btw I love Dr. Joseph and Christine is the best!! I don't ever miss my appointments and if I can't make them I call ahead of time to reschedule. This particular time I was suppose to get my braces taken off. I got a reminder call. I heard 1pm for the appointment and verified with the young lady who called me. So I show up at 12:58pm and walk in. Instead of her greeting me, she looks to the other receptionist and says "do you guys have an appt?" The young lady says no. I said my last name is Stephens. She said o well your appointment was at 9am this morning. I told her I was told 1oclock and that I never miss appointments. Of course they are booked out until a month later which is an inconvenience to me because when I verified my time with you , you said yes instead of correcting me so I would make my appointment on time. She never looked up at me until I was ready to walk out and asked to speak with another employee. If this office starts to go down it's because of her. Never have I ever had a bad experience with this office until today. Ready to get my braces off so I can steer clear of her nasty attitude. Other staff is great! I attend the Bush River location btw!

I've been coming to Novus Orthodontist since November 2020 and I can truly admit I have been handled with care in the most polite way !! I have never waited beyond my appointment time. Always in and out ! Dr. Joseph is very knowledgeable and always assures me that the care he chooses for my teeth/braces will work and THEY DO !! I smile more because of him . Thank you Dr. Joseph for an amazing staff !! I refer anyone to come here if your looking for QUALITY ortho/dental work . They are THE BEST !!!
