Nova Dental Clinic - General dentist in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Founded in 1997, Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine has the distinction of being the first private dental college established in the state of Florida, and the first College of Dental Medicine established in partnership with a College of Osteopathic Medicine in the United States. The College of Dental Medicine is part of a dynamic Health Professions Division at Nova Southeastern University that includes osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, optometry, nursing and medical sciences. NSU's dental students take classes and interact with these other health professional students in both educational and community service activities.

Our pre-doctoral students and postdoctoral residents represent the best of the strong applicant pool and are committed to becoming outstanding clinicians and leaders in their communities. Our students actively lead and participate in various community programs, ranging from Give Kids a Smile, local health fairs, oral health education activities, fun runs, international medical outreach programs, that will help prepare them for their future careers as leaders in dentistry. In our short history, our graduates are demonstrating their leadership in all phases of dentistry and giving back to the profession.

The NSU College of Dental Medicine's world class faculty is committed to the success of our students. Our faculty teach, conduct research and lecture throughout the world, contributing to the knowledge base that serves as the foundation for clinical dentistry. Curriculum innovation is ongoing as we work to continually improve our competency-based curriculum. Our dedicated clinical Team Leaders provide guidance and support as the pre-doctoral students provide comprehensive care for their family of patients. To provide even greater clinical competence in caring for medically complex and special needs populations, our educational program includes rotations to community facilities with faculty who have expertise in caring for these unique populations.

Currently, the College of Dental Medicine has an innovative joint DO/DMD degree with the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a newly established joint DMD/Masters of Public Health degree. Other joint degrees are possible and faculty remain committed to helping students become the dental professionals they seek to be.

THIS INSTITUTIONS EXECUTIVE OWNERS MUST BE LAUGHING THEIR WAY TO THE BANK WHILE THEIR FACILITIES ARE BREAKING DOWN. DENTAL CHAIRS DO NOT OPERATE. THANKS DO NOT WORK. WHATEVER IT IS WHEREVER YOU LOOK SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING! THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN WORKING ON ME ARE ALL VERY GOOD. MY MAIN PROSTHODONTIST WHO I BELIEVE IS GOOD HAS A CASELOAD OF ABOUT THREE TIMES TOO MANY!

The NSU dental clinic is AWESOME! Everyone treats you with kindness and respect starting From the people at checkin to the doctors, assistants and dental students. I am so grateful for the amazing care they gave me in removing my wisdom teeth and a huge shoutout to Dr. North, assistant Mr. Wil and dental student Ahmed! I would recommend everyone to visit.

Folks, you CAN NOT make this up! Allow me to start with a little history between me and dentists. There is a standing joke about me where they say that there is a retired dentist somewhere courtesy my dental history. LOL My reality actually speaks to the number one feared person in my life after GOD.... the dentist. True story! I walked through those same said doors for my Nova Dental Clinic appointment this morning and sat in my chair just repeating my morning's positive affirmations. Now, the dentist's (student) protocol once my dental work begins is, "raise your hand if you feel sensitivity or need the suction..." Right!!! That sentence then became my dental affirmation just to put things in perspective. I grip my hands, tense my body, and practice my breathing in preparation for the sensitivity aka pain. Some where in between the snap of the tooth isolating gadget in my mouth and the anxiety-building cavity drill, I recalled feeling the release of tension in my boxer's grip. Then... I blanked out. My sudden jolt back to reality was, my dentist's voice, "Did you feel sensitivity?" "Uh oh" was my reply and I realized what he realized. If you ever fell asleep at the most random moment and awoke to the realization that you're not in bed, it is not sleep time, and the current state of affairs does not remotely represent relaxation. That was me, with an active drill in my mouth today. My body clearly jerked randomly as if to wince in pain, but this time, to nodding off to lala land LOL. My dentist, Juan Castillo and I chuckled when he realized and joked, "Did you fall asleep?" All I could do was chuckle back. What randomness and fallacy to my dental autobiography and fear of dentistry? Juan is a very compassionate dentist, attentive to his patient's cues, and worked his magic over my life long fear today. I am still laughing at myself in disbelief but vividly recall that moment of falling into that comatose state, relaxed, and spell bound by Juan's gentle hands in dentistry. For the first time, I am excited and eagerly look forward to my next visit and completion of my dental work...with no fear!! Thank you Doc!

I would first like to say I think Nova University it self is a very professional school and has a great atmosphere. But the students and Supervisors there are very unprofessional. You go there and spend your hard earned money for services and they treat you like your getting free dental service.( I would hate to think there racist and don't like black people.) But I won't go that far. But some students just aren't ready to perform dental work until there done. And the supervisor are rude. Especially!!! Gabriella Rosario

Hands down the worst service I have ever experienced. It's a really great reminder for how the uninsured are punished.

Good phone service. I called to inquire about dental services and they are charging outrageous prices and exploiting people that need help. Don't visit them, just buy a dental plan and get it done at regular place you don't need these exploiters

It all depends how good the student is. This is my 2nd time around I had work done 15 yrs ago and had an excellent student. I have been trying to get an implant done for 3 years. They lied and said it would be done in 6 to 9 months then they said I needed to do everything they thought I should have done in my mouth before the implants. $12,000.00 total. 3 years after I still don't have my implant screws in place. I even had to re do a root canal that was fine but too old and had nothing to do with my implants. Implants are expensive, about 4,000. a piece total. I am between the spade and the wall. I have spent so much money slowly on work that was maybe necessary, maybe not. But not what I came for. It is a long process that you have no control over your own work. They either do whatever they want or you wasted all the previous money. I had a terrible student now I have a much better one. I have spent so much money in the last 3 years and still don't have my implants. I decided to just keep going with it hoping I will eventually have my implant in place. If you go to a regular dentist you can just get what you want. At NSU you have to do whatever they want you to do. If you complain you won't get to the top but will get treated worst and loose all the money you spent. I'm about 5 thousand in to it and still don't even have the screws for implant from summer 2019.

I wish I could give more stars. Just left my appointment today for the first half of my root canal. I am very nervous when it comes to dental procedures and held off on getting treatment because of my fear. Not only is the staff professional and caring, they are also warm and kind. They put your mind at ease and do everything they can to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. It is a great relief when you are there to not only get a second and third opinion, but also a fourth and fifth with the different doctors and staff on their team. Everyone there treats you with so much kindness and warmth, I have never experienced this with any other dentists I have been to in the past. They make sure that everyone is on the same page for treatment plans so I feel very comfortable with the decisions being made regarding my dental health. I can't praise Jamal enough for his professionalism and care. If you are lucky enough to be in his care, you are in great hands. Dr. Jon Scalercio performed the first half of my root canal and I can't praise him enough. Highly skilled, extremely professional and knowledgeable. I am so impressed with Nova.

I was quoted $100 for a dental cleaning. I got a deep cleaning without any talk of anesthetics. It was an hour of intense discomfort-rhe hygienist did a good ( if painful job) hence the two stars. When done,i the hygienist said it would cost as extra $100 because of the extra work. One week later I called to check on the status of my $1000 deposit and was told by Gabby that the charge was now $300.! I was also informed that it would take weeks to refund my deposit. Get a quote in writing and don't deposit money. I don't believe they are honorable people.
