Integrating advanced dentistry tools in our cosmetic dental treatments allows us to provide superior service so that our patients can have the best possible smile! We use tools like Digital X-Rays, ZOOM whitening, the Diagnodent (a laser that helps us diagnose small decay) and our crown technology is simply amazing.
If you need a filling, we will provide you with white fillings that look great and strengthen your teeth. Additional diagnostic tools include an intra oral camera which allows our dentists to view pictures of your teeth on a large monitor which saves time and helps detect potential problems.
Dr. Jack Baldwin was raised in North Dakota and would often spend his summertime with his family at their Minnesota lake cabin. The memories of fixing and tinkering with various projects around their summer home made him fall in love with Minnesota, and he is pleased to now call it his home. Dr. Baldwin graduated from the University of Minnesota school of Dentistry with a DDS. Since graduating Dr. Baldwin, and his two girls enjoy their home by the Lake Minnetonka and love outings in Excelsior. Some of his favorite pastimes include cooking (he loves spicy food) and spending time with his family. Dr. Baldwin looks forward to caring for Plymouth and the surrounding communities by providing the best in dental care to existing and new patients for years to come.
Having grown up on hobby farms and lakes, Dr. Scott Scharf has quite an appreciation for Minnesotas outdoors. He currently lives on a small lake west of Medina with his wife Jennifer and five children. The whole family loves to fish, swim, camp, waterski and be outdoors. He loves the fact that many of his dental patients share his love for the outdoors as many of them are from Wayzata, Maple Grove, Minnetonka and other western Hennepin County cities that also have a wealth of outdoor opportunities.
Dr. Scharf was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota. His father worked for IBM and twice moved for 18 month projects that he was involved in. The first move was to the San Francisco Bay Area and the second was to Milan, Italy. However, the family always came back to Minnesota. Dr. Scharf attended the University of Minnesota, both as an undergrad and in the School of Dentistry Program. Upon graduating in 1986, He went out on his own and started Xenium Dental in Plymouth, Minnesota. After 14 years in that location, we moved in April of 2003 to our new, state of the art facility and renamed the practice Northwoods Dental.
Shannon grew up in St. Cloud, Minnesota and moved to Portland, Oregon for five years, where she started her dental career in 1993. She moved back to Minnesota to start her family and she has two amazing kids. Shannon has been part of the Northwoods Dental team for many years. She loves the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends
Bria was born in Minneapolis and now resides in New Hope. She has been with of our Northwoods Dental family since 2012.In her spare time, she loves to travel, go to concerts, cooking, playing video games, and spending time with family.
Nicole grew up in Duluth and graduated with her degree in business from The University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2015. She started working at Northwoods Dental shortly after graduating. In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, friends and beloved German Shepherd, Shea. She also enjoys running, live music, cooking, and finding new restaurants and breweries.
Joy has been a part of our Northwoods Dental family since 2019. Joy resides in Annandale with her husband, Don. In her spare time Joy enjoys walking with her three labs, pheasant hunting, yoga, dancing and spending as much time as possible with her family and grandchildren.
Angie is one of our front office staff members. She started with Northwoods Dental back in 2008 until 2013, and returned in 2020. Angie and her husband Mike have 6 children, which are all married and have blessed them with 16 beautiful grandchildren. When time permits Angie enjoys traveling with her husband to the Asia Pacific region where he travels for work. Theyve recently moved to Northern Minnesota and enjoy fishing, cutting wood, entertaining and having camp fires with an occasional smore.
Liliya was born in Ukraine and moved to the United States in 1991 with her parents. She now lives in the Northwest suburbs with her husband of seven years. Liliya graduated from Herzing University in 2003 with a dental assisting degree. She enjoys watching movies and bike riding.
I grew up in Rockford, MN and now reside in Waverly, MN. I graduated from Hennepin Technical College and have been a part of the Northwoods Dental Family since 2018. In my spare time I enjoy exercising, going to the cabin, watching football, and spending time with my bulldog Chuck
Tatyana grew up in Kazakhstan and came to the US in 2003. Tatyana loves spending time with her family and staying active outdoors. She has a 5 year old daughter that keeps her busy, but she also enjoys camping, skiing, water skiing and crafts.
Tatyana graduated as a dental assistant from Hennepin Tech in 2009 and has been working with Dr. Scharf since 2013. Tatyana loves vegetables and has her own mini garden where we are all lucky to try some of her fresh vegetables every summer and fall! Tatyana also has her hands full with her little daughter and baby boy who arrived in May 2016.
Jenny has been assisting at Northwoods Dental for over 12 years. She lives in St. Michael with her husband and son. In her free time she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, watching movies and most of all spending it with her family.
I was born and raised in South Dakota. I graduated from MN State Mankato in 2004 with a BS degree in DH. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have lived in Plymouth for 3 years. I have 2 children who love to play basketball and baseball. I enjoy reading, exercising and trying new restaurants
Phanessa grew up in Greenfield, MN along the Crow River. She now lives in St. Louis Park with her husband and are expecting their first child in May 2019. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys working out and playing co-ed softball in the summer!
I attained my dental hygiene degree from Minnesota State, Mankato in 1995. I recently joined the team at Northwoods Dental and love it here! My passion for dental health revolves around patient education. Specifically, how oral health effects the entire person. I focus not only on cleaning teeth but nutrition, stress and sleep issues to name a few.
I live in St. Michael with my husband, Shawn, and son Bryce. We sent our oldest daughter off to college at NDSU at the end of August 2021.I enjoy spending time with my boys, supporting my son and daughter in their sports and volunteering in various groups and at my church.In my free time, I like to weight train, garden, sip on a good glass of wine and spend time with friends on the lake.
I grew up in the Brainerd Lakes Area where I spent a lot of time on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. I enjoy the outdoors and grew up hunting and fishing! I spend most my time with family, playing sports or board games, crafts, and cooking. I graduated from Herzing University with my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and joined the Northwoods Dental family shortly after!

Negative (-5) Stars!! This review is long overdue for past services. Unnecessary dental work performed by Jack Baldwin and confirmed by other dentist. ATTEMPTED unnecessary work for my cavity free family member suggested by Baldwin was also NOT Needed after second opinion. This whole office has an Aggressive push for EVERYONE to buy a very expensive mouth guard to prevent teeth clenching that is NOT needed or covered by insurance, THEY get full profit. Apparently at Northwoods teeth clenching is an epidemic worse than Covid-19. Be prepared to pay immediately after your dental services for work completed EVEN before Insurance gets submitted to review the billing. They have that process down really good...the Billing process, hmmmm.????? My only advice; always, always, always, get a second opinion. I feel we are facing a Covid backlash on profit loss and ALL companies are trying to make up for it. Its disgusting. But I will NOT have to do anything...God will take care of this for me. God Bless Everyone.

We love Northwoods! I often have to bring all 3 of my kiddos in and every time, all the Northwoods staff are super friendly, personable, and genuinely caring. My kids leave with a smile on their face and I feel so confident in the care we receive. Thank you all for making our visit wonderful!

Northwoods Dental is absolutely the best! We have been going there as a family for 8+ years. Dr. Baldwin and his staff are second to none.They helped our family deal with a complicated case from an injury sustained several years ago. Today, my daughter completed her journey and it wouldn't have been possible without Dr. Baldwin and his incredibly staff who guided us every step of the way!

They never disappoint and have offered exceptional customer service for well over 20 years strong. The dental hygienists are always ready for me when I arrive, are wonderful and do excellent work on my teeth even before the dentist arrives.

My experience at Northwoods Dental has been the best dental experience I have ever had! From the warm and welcoming staff when you arrive- to the amazing guidance of Tatyana for my Zoom treatment and temporary bridge- and the comforting advice of Dr. Scharf... this is my new go to dental office for all my dental needs!! Thank you for making me feel so comfortable and for being as excited as I am for my new smile!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience! I hadn't been to the dentist in two years, and was nervous. Everyone was so kind and helpful, especially my dental hygienist. She answered all of my questions so patiently and had a lot of knowledge. I learned so much about dental hygiene from her! I was also impressed with the quality of service. My teeth look brand new! I didn't realize a dental cleaning could be so effective and get rid of all those coffee stains. My dental hygienist was very intentional and thorough in her cleaning, and explained every step of the way what she was doing and why.

I have been going to Northwoods Dental since before they were at their current location. I believe it has been over 20 years now. It is a long drive for me, and there are many dentistry offices much closer, but I keep making that drive. I have continued seeing them because of the level of care I get, the trust I have in them, and simply how great it is to see all of them.

I am a Northwoods Dental/Dr. Baldwin evangelist after my recent full-mouth x-ray, thorough cleaning, and careful examination that I paid $33 for through Groupon with no dental insurance! I was very skeptical going into the appointment as a Groupon customer but was only asked to provide proof of my Groupon purchase after my appointment, and I could tell I was treated like any other patient regardless of whether I was paying full price or had dental insurance. COVID precautions were A+, all services were excellent, and I never felt at all pressured to have any dental work done (even though I know I have an active cavity, which Dr. Baldwin and his team correctly identified). I got detailed information about the cost of that cavity filling that I already knew I needed and other repairs of botched fillings I suspected I needed as well, but I never felt at all pressured and Dr. Baldwin was very realistic in assessing that I could wait to have all recommended work done until I have dental coverage again. My Groupon excursion to see Dr. Baldwin enabled me to safely keep up on my regular dental cleanings despite COVID and my pandemic-related loss of dental benefits! Lest you think I only had a good experience because I have good teeth, I am a heavy coffee drinker whose teeth are practically brown, and Dr. Baldwin and his crew never once tried to sell me on the idea of whitening! For anyone curious about COVID precautions, I was asked COVID screening question three times from the time I made the appointment to the start of the appointment, everyone uses hand sanitizer upon arrival to the office, and patients all are required to wear masks until they're occupying their sealed-off exam rooms. Seats in the waiting room are arranged for social distancing, and I only had to share the (very spacious) waiting room with one other patient, so they seem to be limiting their occupancy.

My dentist Dr. Baldwin and the staff at Northwoods Dental are all amazing. Everyone is friendly when you walk in there and welcoming, every hygienist and assistant has been kind and caring. Both my son and I go here and I can't recommend them enough. They are also fair and honest and work with you to give you options, not pushing things you don't need. Also answering messages on weekends from a concerned mom. This is a great dental office and I would highly recommend.
